오토바이 헬멧의 충돌 안정성 검토를 위한 유한요소해석 (Finite element analysis for the impact stability investigation of the motorcycle helmet)

  • A motorcycle helmet is the best means to protect the head of bike's driver and it is directly connected to a driver's life. Prior to producing of the helmet, it has to be passed the process of impact test to evaluate of its safety. This test evaluates peak acceleration and H.I.C (Head Injury Criteria). This paper analyzes impact test with finite element method to find the behavior of helmet during the test. Also, the effect of impact sites on the helmet was evaluated to improve the thickness distribution of the helmet.

  • Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) consists of a driving pulley and a driven pulley joined by rubber V-belt. Each pulley consists of a fixed flange and a movable flange. The main advantages of the U with V-belt, which has been Popular in Asia, are a simple mechanism less maintenance and low cost. One of the important factors which have an influence on the performance of the CVT is change of axial distance. Base on an experiment the effects of transfer torque and speed ratio of both driving pulley and driven pulley during the alteration of axial distance were studied.

  • To analyze the impulsive response of a motorcycle helmet, a simulation is performed using the finite element method. Based upon the simulation result, an equivalent one degree of freedom vibrational system is adapted, and transient impulsive responses are analysed to investigate the influence of engineering parameters such as damping, natural frequency, and impact velocity on the impulsive response of the helmet. Maximum gravitational acceleration reduces as the damping factor value increases. When the damping factor value is around 0.6 or larger, the maximum acceleration does not change. With respect to the natural frequency and the impact velocity, it increases linearly. The relationship between head injury criterion(HIC) and maximum gravitational acceleration is also presented. The scheme of this study is expected to be utilized to economize the design process of high quality motorcycle helmets.

Supplier-assembler Network Structure and Capability Improvement of Suppliers in Newly Emerging Vietnam's Motorcycle Industry

  • By analyzing five in-depth case studies of suppliers in newly emerging Vietnam's motorcycle industry, this paper explores the differences in patterns and processes of capability improvement of suppliers who participate in different kinds of supplier-assembler network with different structures. The paper finds the correlation between the kinds of suppliers' capabilities improved and the structure of networks they participate in. While suppliers in arm-length networks can improve more upstream capabilities (structure design, process desist), suppliers in embedded networks can improve more downstream capabilities (process design, process setup, process maintenance and delivery control). Two capability improvement patterns of firms in newly emerging economy are indicated. The first pattern is asymmetrical improvement, either upstream or downstream capabilities, by participating in either arm-length or embedded networks. This pattern obstructs the suppliers to meet the requirements of new buyers rho come from different kinds of network. The second pattern is symmetrical improvement by joining both arm-length and embedded networks.

  • In this paper, in order to improve the formability and quality of the injection molded parts in the molds for molding the motorcycle rear cowl injection molded parts with different volumes at the same time, the flow of the molded parts is changed through the injection molding CAE analysis by changing the gate position, runner size and position. It is to find the optimum gate position, the diameter of the runner and the position where the balance is equal. The molded article formed by the optimization resulted in the uniformity of the molten resin at the same time at the corner of the product, thereby maintaining the flow balance favorable for mass production at lower injection pressure.
