  • Increasing interest of human health, building bio-database (Bio DB) has been become a hot issue in life science. Consequently, Single Cell Analysis (SCA) which can explain biodiversity of lives has been a significant factor for building Bio DB. In numerous studies from these analyses, they have been showed that mechanical properties of cells can serve explanation of biological heterogeneity and criterion of disease states. Therefore, measuring mechanical properties of cells have great potential to be used in bio-medical applications. However, traditionally, many researchers have undergone difficult and time consuming work because handling small sized cells usually requires high-skilled technique. Thus, this paper shows robotized stiffness measurement technique using fixed ended beam sensor, precision motorized stage and substrate which have wall structure.

  • One of main functions of the firing control system applied to a rocket propulsion test has been to provide electric current for ignition of a solid rocket motor. This paper describes the design and implementation of an enhanced firing control system for ground propulsion test that can also control and verify various types of squib events and flight sequences.

  • Vehicle stability is a very important subject in vehicle design and control, because vehicle safety is closely dependent upon its dynamic stability. The control logic for four-wheel steering(4WS) systems, in which maintaining at least the specified stability region is the control objective, was constructed using the simplified vehicle model of 3 degree-of-freedoms. The improvement of vehicle stability was verified through computer simulations for the slalom and the double lane change maneuver using the multi-body dynamic model in MSC.ADAMS.

  • A dual-stage positioner for fast and fine robotic manipulations is presented. By adopting the merits of both coarse and fine actuator, a desirable system having the capacity of large workspace with high resolution of motion is enabled. We have constructed an ultra precision XY positioner with dual-stage mechanism where the PZT driven fine stage is mounted on the motor driven XY positioner and applied it to fine tracking controls and micro-tele operations as a slave manipulator. We describe essential merits of the compound actuation mechanism and some control strategies to successfully utilize it with proper servo system design. Through experimental results, the effectiveness of the coarse/fine manipulation by the dual-stage positioner will be shown.

  • Conventional gain-tuning methods such as Ziegler-Nickels methods, have many disadvantages that optimal control ler gain should be tuned manually. In this paper, modified PID controllers which include self-tuning characteristics are proposed. Proposed controllers automatically tune the PID gains in on-1ine using neural networks. A new learning scheme was proposed for improving learning speed in neural networks and satisfying the real time condition. In this paper, using a nonlinear mapping capability of neural networks, we derive a tuning method of PID controller based on a Back propagation(BP)method of multilayered neural networks. Simulated and experimental results show that the proposed method can give the appropriate parameters of PID controller when it is implemented to DC Motor.

  • This article proposes a design guideline to reduce squeal noise generated by an automobile wiper blade. In order to explain the squeal noise phenomenon, a source of squeal noise is experimentally investigated using a rotating disk equipment, and then a single-degree-of-freedom stick-slip vibration model is established for a blade tip. Based on analytical results, we discuss a tendency of the squeal noise for various physical parameters.

  • In this paper, automatic sunvisor system is introduced for driver's safety and convenience. This system has the mechanism which keeps the sun off without obstruction of driver's sight. The mechanism can make the sunvisor move forward or rotate left while remaining inside inner roof. The control system consists of a CPU, a motor driver, light sensors, and the algorithm that can control the movement of sunvisor efficiently. When the light sensors take the sun light, they give the signal to the CPU and the CPU calculates the best position of the sunvisor with the information of driver's eyes height. Then, the CPU gives the signal to motors that can move the sunvisor.

  • In this paper, design modification was performed to improve the structure of ex-developed 12 D.O.F Biped walking robot, KUBIR-1 similar with human beings. The motion of KUBIR-1 was slow and had a limited walking space. Hence I designed an improved BWR named KUBIR-2 with 12 degree of freedom. KUBIR-2 was designed to solve the following problems of KUBIR-1. First, KUBIR-2 was more simply designed in the four-bar-link mechanism, and its weight was reduced. Second, it had the built-in controller and motor driver. Third, walking velocity of KUBIR-2 was increased by improvement of speed and motion joint angle range. In addition to these, we modified the structure of the foot for more stable walking.

  • This paper presents a dynamic modeling and a sliding mode controller for the high-speed / high-accuracy position control system. Selected target system is the wire bonder head assembly which is used in semiconductor assembly process. This system is a reciprocating one around the pivot point that consists of VCM(voice coil motor) as a actuator and transducer horn as a bonding tool. For the modeling elements, the system is divided into electrical circuit, magnetic circuit and mechanical system. Each system is modeled by using the bond graph method and united into the full system. Two major aims are considered in the design of the controller. The first one is that the horn must track the given reference trajectory. The second one is that the controller must be realizable by using the DSP board. Computer simulation and experimental results show that the designed sliding mode controller provides better performance than the PID controller.

  • In this paper an assessment has been proceeded about component technology that stamping car panel can be designed and manufactured efficiently. Also this study investigate standard model of CAD/CAM system in production process of automobile dies, Recently, motor companies are doing their best to increase productivity and to reduce production time. So to develop user-friendly and effective standard model of CAD/CAM system is very important. The cbtained results will lead to the reductions in lead time and man-hour required for the design and manufacture of the automobile dies.
