  • From the results of study on the electrical characteristics of heat-generation mortar used graphite as fine aggregates is summerized as following. The primary purpose of this study is the mixing ratio of graphite (35%, 50%/Sg), curing conditions (autoclave, steam, surface, underwater) and shape change (length, section of the electric heat-generation mortar). In case of the test condition with the steam curing condition appearance to most excellent heat-generation reproducibility. And temperature a coefficient of electric heat-generation mortar change from is in inverse proportion to the temperature a coefficient of direct proportion as the ratio of graphite mixing increased.

  • This research is a study on development of section restoration mortar by multi-functional slag aggregate. Compressive strength, flexural strength and other physical properties on five standards are measured to obtain optimal addition rate (of multi-functional aggregate) and to investigate applicability of multi-functional aggregate in developing repair mortar. As the study result, the properties of repair mortar, such as compressive strength and flexural strength etc. are improved by addition of multi-functional aggregate and confirmed reduction effect of air content.

  • Following previous studies, the current paper describes the results of an experimental program concerning the repair of reinforced concrete columns by thixotropic pseudo plastic mortar, preformed to analyze and quantify the influence of initial construction damage to the behavior of the repaired element. Five columns (section scale 1:2) were designed according to the minimum requirements of reinforcement of ductility orientated codes' design with variables the percentages of initial construction damages. All were tested in axial compression with repeated cycles up to failure. For comparison reasons, another one of the same characteristics, yet healthy, was constructed and tested as a reference specimen. A numerical study (Finite Element Analysis) was conducted for further investigation of the behavior of the thixotropic mortar as repair material. The results indicate that: a) surpassing a specific amount of damage, columns even suitably repaired present lower strain capacity, b) finite element analysis present the same way of deboning of the repaired material taking into consideration the buckling of the reinforcement bars.

  • This study investigated the performance evaluation of polymer cement mortar for repairing concrete structures using calcium nitrite(Ca(NO2)2) and CO2 nano-bubble mixing water to develop section-restoration methods for the repair and reinforcement of cracks. The evaluation items were strength and microstructure analysis at 28 days of age according to the change in the amount of calcium nitrite and the use of CO2 nano-bubble water. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the performance of polymer cement mortar for repairing concrete structures was improved by the generation of nitrite-based hydration products when calcium nitrite and CO2 nano-bubble water were used.

  • High fluidity concrete has excellent workability, and if the cross-section of the building is complicated, it is possible to place good quality concrete and increase the construction speed, so its utility value is very high. However, it is premised on the accuracy of concrete formwork assembly. Concrete leakage through formwork gaps is an important consideration when applying high flow concrete. In order to quickly solve the leak of high fluidity concrete caused by formwork gap occurring at the site by accelerator injection, we proceeded with research to confirm the possibility of reducing the amount of formwork leakage of high fluidity mortar. It was confirmed that the injection of the accelerator could reduce the amount of mortar leakage.

  • Alkali-silica reaction (ASR) is among one of the most important damaging mechanisms in concrete, depending primarily on aggregates which contain reactive minerals. However, expansion in concrete may not directly relate to the reactive minerals. This study aims to investigate the influence of ASR and the expansion of mortar bars depending on aggregate type containing various components such as quartz, clay minerals (montmorillonite and kaolinite) and micas (muscovite and biotite). In this study, the accelerated mortar bar tests (AMBT) were performed in two conditions (mortar bars in the same and sole NaOH solutions). Petrographic thin section studies, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis (Rietveld method), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and chemical analyses were carried out. This study showed that quartzite bars led to increase in expansion values of mortar bars in diabase-1 and andesite when these were in the same NaOH solution. However, three samples (basalt, quartzite and claystone) were found having ASR expansion based on the AMBT when the special molds were used for each sample. SEM study revealed that samples which exhibit highest expansions according to AMBT had a generally rough surface and acicular microstructures in or around the micro-cracks. Basalt and quartzite showed more variable in major oxides than those of other samples based on the chemical analyses, SEM studies and AMBT. This study revealed that the highest expansions were observed to source not only from reactive aggregates but also from alteration products (silicification, chloritization, sericitization and argillisation), phyllosilicates (muscovite, biotite and vermiculite) and clays (montmorillonite and kaolinite).

  • In this study, an experiment was conducted to analyze mortar based rheology for 3D printing method application. The tendency of rheological properties due to the change of W/B, binder type, replacement ratio, and super plasticizer which have a great influence on the flow characteristics of concrete was experimentally analyzed. Experiments were carried out by dividing into paste and mortar. In the paste experiment, rheology was analyzed by setting W/B, binder type, replacement ratio, and super plasticizer dosage as main variables. In the mortar experiment, the rheological properties of W/B and sand ratio were analyzed. As a result, as the W/B was increased, the viscosity decreased and the FA ratio to replace FA increased and the viscosity increased. In order to increase the fluidity, substitution of only 5% of SF reduces the shear stress and the viscosity is reduced by about 83%. Mortar rheological evaluation shows that there is a critical section where a large change occurs in the W/B 30 to 40% section. Also, in the same W/B, it is analyzed that there is a critical section where the shear stress increases more than twice in the sand ratio of 50~60%.

  • This research aimed to conduct an empirical assessment of the penetration of chloride and sulfate ions into mortar sections using an anion exchange membrane(AEM) and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS). The study involved a simultaneous ion chromatography(IC) analysis and LIBS analysis performed on mortars immersed in varying concentrations of chloride and sulfate. The findings revealed that at the wavelengths specific to Chloride(837.59nm) and Sulfur(921.30nm), the LIBS intensity achieved using AEM surpassed that obtained with a paper substrate at equivalent penetration concentrations. A robust correlation was confirmed between LIBS intensity and chloride ion concentration. Furthermore, when juxtaposed with IC analysis concentration outcomes at identical depths, the AEM displayed a higher intensity. The research noted an enhancement in LIBS intensity and a diminution in errors within the low-concentration section when deploying AEM. However, for the Sulfur wavelength of 921.3nm, there remains a need to augment the sensitivity of the LIBS signal within the low-concentration section in future studies. The findings underscore the potential of employing AEM and LIBS for precise analysis of chloride and sulfate ion penetration into mortar sections. This strategy can aid in bolstering assessment precision and mitigating errors, particularly in regions with low concentrations. It is recommended to further research and develop methods to amplify the sensitivity of the LIBS signal for sulfur detection in low-concentration sections. In sum, the study accentuates the significance of employing advanced techniques like AEM and LIBS for efficacious and precise analysis in the domain of mortar section assessment.
