On-Line Monitoring of Low Biochemical Oxygen Demand Through Continuous Operation of a Mediator-Less Microbial Fuel Cell

  • Abstract Oligotrophic microbial fuel cells (MFCs) were tested for the continuous monitoring of low biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) by using artificial wastewater, containing glucose and glutamate, as check solution. Ten times diluted trace mineral solution was used to minimize the background current level, which is generated from the oxidation of nitrilotriacetate used as a chelating agent. The feeding rate of 0.53 ml/min could increase the sensitivity from 0.16 to 0.43 ${\mu}$A/(mg BOD/l) at 0.15 ml/min. The dynamic linear range of the calibration curve was between 2.0 and 10.0 mg BOD/l, and the response time to the change of 2 mg BOD/l was about 60 min. The current signal from an oligotroph-type MFCs increased with the increase in salts concentration, and the salt effect could be eliminated by 50 mM phosphate buffer.

  • In this paper a remote monitoring and control system using SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) for UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems is proposed. The local remote system by RS-232 or RS-485 communication code or the wide remote system by modems is used for conventional remote monitoring & control system for UPSs. But recently because of communication cost and long distance the system is changed to remote control systems through internet and information communication network. And serial communication method by RS-232 or RS-485 is used between agent and UPSs. In this study. we designed and developed the system which is able to control UPSs and to monitor errors. statuses and actual values transmitted from UPS through internet.

  • This paper aims at developing remote control system to control and monitor distribute various devices through internet or information communication network. So far for managing UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) serial communication system has been used. This paper proposes managing method of UPS monitoring using SNMP. It consists of SNMP agent network board SNMP manager PC software serial communication software and UPS. The proposed method can be applied to various devices with communication network remotely.

  • 무선랜 환경에서는 데이터 링크 레이어의 전달 매체와 물리적 계층이 기존의 유선 네트워크와는 근본적으로 다른 특성을 지닌다. 무선랜 환경에서는 공중망을 전달 매체로 하여 통신이 이루어진다. 그리고 무선랜 환경에서는 단말기들의 이동성에 의해 네트워크 상태가 가변적으로 변하기 때문에, 이러한 환경에서 유선과는 또 다른 보안상의 문제점들을 가지게 된다. 본 논문은 무선 구간에서 유동적으로 발생하는 네트워크의 상태와 정보들을 수집하여 무선 구간에서만 이루어질 수 있는 보안상의 문제점들을 파악하고 대처하는 무선랜 환경에서 상태 정보 수집 에이전트를 설계하고 구현한다.

  • 대부분의 전자 상거래 시스템에서는 구매자에게 지불의 편의를 제공하기 위하여 구매한 상품에 대한 가상의 상품 목록인 장바구니 기능을 제공한다. 그러나 사이버 예약 시스템이나 한정된 상품을 판매하는 전자 상거래 시스템의 경우에는 구매자의 장바구니에 유지되는 상품 수량과 데이터베이스의 상품 정보와의 일관성을 유지할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 장바구니를 이용하는 전자 상거래 시스템에서 세션 식별자와 에이전트를 이용하여 장바구니에 유지되는 구매자의 상태 정보와 데이터베이스의 일관성을 유지할 수 있는 에이전트 시스템을 설계 및 구현한다.

  • Objectives: Galatosylated PEI was synthesized and characterized for gene delivery to hepatocytes. It was modified by conjugating with hydrophilic PEG to improve in vivo circulation. And we studied the possibility as an imaging modality for monitoring of gene delivery using gal-PEI derivatives. Methods: The substitution values of galactose in PEI were calculated by resorcinol/sulfuric acid method and quantity of PEG was calculated by comparing NMR peak. Cytotoxicity was determined by MTT. Genotyping of the causative Leptospira in symptomatic dogs in Thailand

  • We investigated the genotypes of Leptospira spp. detected in symptomatic dogs in Thailand. During April to December 2012, 6 out of 41 client-owned dogs were diagnosed with leptospirosis based on polymerase chain reaction tests. All of the infected dogs showed clinical symptoms related to leptospirosis. Direct genotyping of the causative agent of the canine leptospirosis was conducted from the archival DNA samples extracted from urine or blood of those 6 infected dogs. Sequencing of the partial 16S rRNA and lipL32 genes from all samples identified Leptospira (L.) interrogans as the infecting species. Multilocus sequence typing tests were successful for 2 out of 6 samples. The sequence type (ST) was identified as ST50 for both samples where the profile corresponded to L. interrogans species and Bataviae serogroup. The presence of this genotype of Leptospira has never been reported in Thailand. Thus, our findings showed the existence of ST50 L. interrogans serogroup Bataviae and the ability to cause leptospirosis in dogs in Thailand.

Implementation of an Agent-centric Planning of Complex Events as Objects of Pedagogical Experiences in Virtual World

  • An agent-centric event planning method is proposed for providing pedagogical experiences in an immersed environment. Two-level planning is required at in a macro-level (i.e., inter-event level) and an intra-event level to provide realistic experiences with the objective of learning declarative knowledge. The inter-event (horizontal) planning is based on search, while intra-event (vertical) planning is based on hierarchical decomposition. The horizontal search is dictated by several realistic types of association between events besides the conventional causality. The resulting schematic plan is further augmented by conditions associated with those agents cast into the roles of the events identified in the plan. Rather than following a main story plot, all the events potentially relevant to accomplishing an initial goal are derived in the final result of our planning. These derived events may progress concurrently or digress toward a new main goal replacing the current goal or event, and the plan could be merged or fragmented according to their respective lead agents' intentions and other conditions. The macro-level coherence across interconnected events is established via their common background world existing a priori. As the pivotal source of event concurrency and intricacy, agents are modeled to not only be autonomous but also independent, i.e., entities with their own beliefs and goals (and subsequent plans) in their respective parts of the world. Additional problems our method addresses for augmenting pedagogical experiences include casting of agents into roles based on their availability, subcontracting of subsidiary events, and failure of multi-agent event entailing fragmentation of a plan. The described planning method was demonstrated by monitoring implementation.

적응형 교수 학습을 위한 퍼지 집합 기반 에이젼트 시스템 (Fuzzy Set Based Agent System for Adaptive Tutoring)

  • 본 연구에서는 학습자들의 학습 과정을 모니터링하여 분석된 학습 특성에 따라 다르게 학습내용을 동적으로 구성하여 제공하는 에이젼트 기반의 적응적 교수 시스템을 구현하고 있다. 또한 학습자들의 능력을 평가하고 각 수준에 맞는 학습내용을 제공하기 위해 퍼지 개념을 이용하고 있다. 이를 위해, 코스웨어 설계시 학습목표의 중요도, 학습내용의 난이도, 학습목표와 학습내용과의 관련도에 따라 퍼지 수준 집합을 구성하고 이를 기반으로 학습자의 수준에 맞는 내용을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 에이젼트를 이용하여 학습자들의 학습 상태를 지속적으로 모니터링하고, 평가 단계에서 학습자가 오답을 냈을 경우 적절한 힌트를 추론하여 제공하며, 분석된 학습 특성과 평가 결과에 따라 학습 내용을 동적으로 구성하여 줌으로서 적응적 교수 시스템을 효과적으로 구현하고 있다. 또한 퍼지 집합에 의한 수준별 학습 내용의 제공과 평가 결과는 학습과정에 나타나는 여러 가지 다양하고 불확실한 요소들을 고려하여 처리함으로써 보다 융통성 있는 교수 학습 방법을 제공할 수 있도록 한다.
