  • This paper deals with constructing a scheduling system for a mold manufacturing factory. The scheduling system is composed of 4 submodules such as pre-processor, neural network training, neural networks and simulation. Pre-processor analyzes the condition of workshop and generates input data to neural networks. Network training module is performed by using the condition of workshop, performance measures, and dispatching rules. Neural networks module presents the most optimized dispatching rule, based on previous training data according to the current condition of workshop. Simulation module predicts the earliest completion date of a mold by forward scheduling with the presented dispatching rules, and suggests a possible issue date of a material by backward tracking. The system developed shows a great potential when applied in real mold factory for automotive parts.

  • In this study, a study was carried out that could effectively produce a heat dissipation effect on plastic materials. Using carbon nanotube (CNT), aluminum powder and plastic, the material properties were tested in 2 cases of compounding ratio. The test sample mold was designed and constructed prior to the experiment. The experiments include tensile strength, elongation rate, flexural strength, flexural elasticity rate, eye-jaw impact strength, gravity and thermal conductivity. Results from 60% and 70% mixture of aluminium to plastic were tested, and a 10% less combined result was a relatively good property. For research purposes, the heat dissipation effect and light weighting obtained a good measure when the combined amount of Al was 60%.

  • Cellulose is a beneficial material that has low cost, lightweight, high compatibility and biodegradability. Recently electroactive paper (EAPap) on cellulose base was discovered as a smart material and actuator through ion migration and piezoelectric effect. Furthermore cellulose has a potentiality to apply the display material, because of its high reflectivity, flexibility and high transmittance. The various shapes and height patterns of the Cellulose acetate (CA) solution, such as circle and honeycomb patterns, were fabricated and observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM, S4300 Hitachi). The resulting pattern showed uniform size in the large area without defect. After stretching the CA film with saponification process in the sodium methoxide in methanol solution, Most of the compositions become one directional ordered nanofibers below 50nm.

  • The design of injection molded prlymeric parts has been done empirically, since it requires profound knowledge about the moldability and causal effects on the properties of the parts. This study shows CAE approach for the design of the seat frame of fiber-reinforced composite material in order to realize the concept os rationsl design for the productivity and quality of mold making. The knowledge-based CAE system is constructed by adding the knowledge-basw module for the design evaluation and appropriate CAE programs for mold design analysis in order to provied designers, at the initial design stage, with comprehensive process knowledge for the performance analysis and the design evaluation. A knowledge-based CAE system is a new tool which enables the concurrent design with integrated and balanced design decisions at the initial design stage of injection molding.

  • Recently, lightweight material is attracting attention as a solution to the problem of fuel efficiency and increasing the need for development. CFRP has been attracting attention as lightweight materials for automobile because it has a high specific stiffness and specific strength compared to steel material. CFRP have a wide range of mechanical properties depending on the laminate condition. In this paper, study on the forming analysis of double-dome model was performed considering CFRP prepreg laminate condition and coefficient of friction. After forming analysis, the result has compared with wrinkling area and vertical strain of fiber to the laminated condition. And then compared with inflow of blank to the laminate condition. Through this paper, we propose the forming analysis methods of CFRP material.

  • Nucleate boiling heat transfer is one of the most important phenomenon in the various industries. Especially, critical heat flux (CHF) refers to the upper limit of the pool boiling heat transfer region. Therefore, many researchers have found that CHF can be significantly increased by adding very small amounts of nanoparticles. In this study, the CHF and heat transfer coefficient were tested under the pool boiling state using copper and multi wall carbon nanotube nanoparticles. The results showed that two different types of nanoparticles deposited on the surface of two specimens made of the same material increased the heat flux in the nanoparticles with high conductivity, and there was no difference in the critical heat flux when the same material nanoparticles were deposited on the two different specimen surfaces.

  • In plate forming technology, cylindrical drawing process is widely used in industry due to technological development. In this study, we used stainless steel 3042B and stainless steel 304J1, which are the most commonly used materials in the production of cold and hot water tanks for water purifiers, among cylindrical drawing products. Under the same conditions, the thickness of the sidewall of the product formed by drawn experiment was studied. As a result of the experiment, the bottom thickness of stainless steel 304J1 was considered to be thick. It is judged that the defect rate can be reduced by changing the breaking phenomenon of the floor surface of the cold and hot water bottles to the material of stainless steel 304j1. Stainless steel 304 2B material shows a sharp change in thickness from punch corner R to sidewall position, while stainless steel 304J1 material showed a uniform change from punch corner R to sidewall position. Stainless steel 304J1 material is considered to improve the clamping of the product in the process of extracting the product after hand drawing. The appearance of stainless steel 3042B products is considered to produce more wrinkles in the flange, which exerts greater tensile force on the sidewall during molding, resulting in uneven sidewall thickness.

  • The life of conventional steel plastic injection molds is long but manufacturing cost and time are prohibitive for using these molds for producing prototypes of products in limited numbers. Commonly used 3D printers and rapid prototyping methods are capable of directly converting the digital models of three-dimensional solid objects into solid physical parts. Depending on the 3D printer, the final product can be made from different material, such as polymer or metal. Rapid prototyping of parts with the polymeric material is typically cheaper, faster and convenient. However, the life of a polymer mold can be less than a hundred parts. Failure of a polymeric mold during the injection molding process can result in serious safety issues considering very large forces and temperatures are involved. In this study, the feasibility of the inspection of 3D printed molds with the surface response to excitation (SuRE) method was investigated. The SuRE method was originally developed for structural health monitoring and load monitoring in thin-walled plate-like structures. In this study, first, the SuRE method was used to evaluate if the variation of the strain could be monitored when loads were applied to the center of the 3D printed molds. After the successful results were obtained, the SuRE method was used to monitor the artifact (artificial damage) created at the 3D printed mold. The results showed that the SuRE method is a cost effective and robust approach for monitoring the condition of the 3D printed molds.
