  • Abstract A regionalized daily streamflow model using a modified retention parameter in the SCS method was developed to predict the daily streamflow of a natural series for Korean watersheds. Model verification showed that it is possible to use the model for extending short period records in a gaged watershed or for predicting daily streamflow in any ungaged watershed, with reasonable accuracy by simply inputing the name of the watershed boundary, the watershed size, the latitude and longitude of the watershed, and the daily areal rainfall.

  • We revisit the study of finding solutions of equations containing a differentiable and a continuous term on a Banach space setting [1]-[5], [9]-[11]. Using more precise majorizing sequences than before [9]-[11], we provide a semilocal convergence analysis for the generalized Newton's method as well the generalized modified Newton's method. It turns out that under the same or even weaker hypotheses: finer error estimates on the distances involved, and an at least as precise information on the location of the solution can be obtained. The above benefits are obtained under the same computational cost.

  • A two-stage procedure is proposed to estimate the population proportion of a sensitive group. The proposed procedure is obtained by combining the direct question method and a modified randomized response technique. It is verified that the proposed procedure is more efficient than existing methods under some mild conditions.

  • An algorithm for generating all hexahedral meshes for three dimensional objects has been presented. This algorithm is based on the sweeping and the grafting method. In sweeping process internal nodes generating method has been modified by employing the distances between nodes on connecting surfaces and on source surfaces. In addition to the sweeping processes grafting algorithm is also modified to obtain more effective meshes by refining elements near grafting surfaces. With this method two and a half dimensional hexahedral meshes for three dimensional objects can be generated effectively. Sample meshes are constructed to demonstrate the mesh generating capability of the proposed algorithm.

  • IIn this paper, we suggest and analyze a modified Mann's algorithm based on the CQ method for pseudo-contractive mappings in Hilbert spaces. Further, we prove a strong convergence theorem according to the proposed algorithm for pseudo-contractive mappings.

  • This paper presents a new method, called a modified economic order quantity method, for determining the optimal inventory policy, which uses the rate of return as its decision criterion. Especially for the simplest possible inventory system with constant demand rate, no backlogging, no lead time, etc., the formula for the optimal order policy is derived. Also mentioned are the relative merits and shortcomings of this method compared to the conventional EOQ model.

  • A high speed digital distance relaying algorithm based on a modified least square error method is proposed. To obtain stable phasor values very Quickly, first, a lowpass filter which has very short transient period and no overshoot is used. Secondly, the conventional least square error method is modified to the one having the data window of 3 samples by applying a FIR filter which removes the DC-offset component in current relaying signals.

  • In this article, a new penalty and different ranking algorithms are used to find the lowest transportation costs for the fuzzy transportation problem. This approach utilises different ranking techniques when dealing with triangular fuzzy numbers. Also, we find that the fuzzy transportation solution of the proposed method is the same as the Fuzzy Modified Distribution Method (FMODI) solution. Finally, examples are used to show how a problem is solved.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study is to present an appropriate sampling method for individual exposure assessment based on a comparison of toluene diisocyanate (TDI) concentrations collected through different sampling methods by work process type. Methods: Two plants handling TDIs in the Incheon area were selected. The samplings were taken during respective processes of spray painting, drying, grinding, and foaming, in which the production of TDIs took on different forms. For the sampling methods for airborne TDIs, open-face cassette holder, modified 2-piece cassette holder, and impinger were used, and the sampling was performed simultaneously at the same locations. Results: The comparison of TDI collection concentrations by each process depending on the sampling method showed high concentrations in the order of the impinger, modified 2-piece cassette holder, and open-face cassette holder for spray painting and foaming. In all processes with the exception of drying, TDI collection concentrations were higher for sampling done with the modified 2-piece cassette holder than with the open-face cassette holder. Conclusions: Based on these results, the modified 2-piece cassette holder was found to be a more appropriate sampling method than the open-face cassette holder when taking individual samples of TDIs from spray painting, grinding, and foaming processes. In particular, for individual exposure assessment of the spray painting process, which features comparatively high collection concentrations compared to the other processes, the use of a modified 2-piece cassette holder is considered appropriate.

  • Objective : High precision and accuracy are expected in gamma knife radiosurgery treatment. Because of the requirement of clinically applying complex radiation and dose gradients together with a rapid radiation decline, a dedicated quality assurance program is required to maintain the radiation dosimetry and geometric accuracy and to reduce all associated risk factors. This study investigates the validity of Leksell Gamma plan (LGP)10.1.1 system of 5th generation Gamma Knife Perfexion as modified variable ellipsoid modeling technique (VEMT) method. Methods : To verify LGP10.1.1 system, we compare the treatment plan program system of the Gamma Knife Perfexion, that is, the LGP, with the calculated value of the proposed modified VEMT program. To verify a modified VEMT method, we compare the distributions of the dose of Gamma Knife Perfexion measured by Gafchromic EBT3 and EBT-XD films. For verification, the center of an 80 mm radius solid water phantom is placed in the center of all sectors positioned at 16 mm, 4 mm and 8 mm; that is, the dose distribution is similar to the method used in the x, y, and z directions by the VEMT. The dose distribution in the axial direction is compared and analyzed based on Full-Width-of-Half-Maximum (FWHM) evaluation. Results : The dose profile distribution was evaluated by FWHM, and it showed an average difference of 0.104 mm for the LGP value and 0.130 mm for the EBT-XD film. Conclusion : The modified VEMT yielded consistent results in the two processes. The use of the modified VEMT as a verification tool can enable the system to stably test and operate the Gamma Knife Perfexion treatment planning system.
