  • In this paper, the analysis of the arc-flow in the GCB is presented by using the modified FLIC method and the arc model. The modified FLIC method adopts the upwind scheme and requires short calculation time. The arc model used in this paper treats the arc as a energy source in the energy equation. The energy source is composed of the ohmic heating and the radiation energy transfer. At each step, the movement of electrode is simulated. From the simulation, reasonable results can be obtained.

  • Fatigue Fracture behaviors of the TIG-welded aluminum alloys, such as Al 2024-T4, A1 5050-0 and Al 7075-T7 were investigated when a crack propagated from tensile residual stress region and compressive residual stress region. The experimental values were compared with the values expected by the Forman equation. The experimental results are summarized as the following: (1) In case of fatigue crack propagation from residual stress region, the values predicted by Forman equation were Found to exactly corresponded to the experimental values. (2) When the stress intensityfactors affected by compressive residual stress, Kres, were greater than the stress intensity factors by minimum applied stresses. Kmin, the Forman equation was found to be improper to be applied directly, but the equation appeared to be proper, if the stress ratio was modified to zero. (3) The experimental results confirmed that residual stress was relaxed by repeated tensile loading and the relaxing trend was greater in case of compressive residual stress than that of tensile residual stress.

  • A second order nonlinear ordinary differential equation is obtained by solving the initial-boundary value problem of a class of elas-todynamics equations, which models the radially symmetric motion of a incompressible hyper-elastic solid sphere under a suddenly applied surface tensile load. Some new conclusions are presented. All existence conditions of nonzero solutions of the ordinary differential equation, which describes cavity formation and motion in the interior of the sphere, are presented. It is proved that the differential equation has singular periodic solutions only when the surface tensile load exceeds a critical value, in this case, a cavity would form in the interior of the sphere and the motion of the cavity with time would present a class of singular periodic oscillations, otherwise, the sphere remains a solid one. To better understand the results obtained in this paper, the modified Varga material is considered simultaneously as an example, and numerical simulations are given.

  • The cavity of mold is exposed to high pressure during injection molding operation. Injection molded articles with deep depth are often demanded as design variety increases. Mold becomes weak and deformation increases as the mold depth increases. Thus the injection molds for deep depth articles should be designed to hold out high pressure or stress and large deformation. Through this study, equation for mold design was examined and suggested novel method to determine equation for mold design with deep depth. Novel equation developed in this study was consisted with cantilever and two points bending while previous equation was modified from just cantilever bending. The validity of novel equation was verified through computer simulation.

  • Many theories have been suggested to obtain an equation of state for polymeric liquids. Most of them are based on the concepts of cell, hole, free volume or lattice etc. One of the most succesful theories is an equation of state theory of Flory and his coworkers based on the concept of free volume. In this work, van der Waals potential used in Flory's theory was modified, giving a new equation of state for polymeric liquids. The calculated results showed that the new equation of state gave better agreement with experimental PVT data than Flory's theory.

  • Double Injection(DI) switching devices consist of p+ and n+ contact separated by a nearly intrinsic semiconductor region containing deep trap. The FEM is chosen as a simulation method for DI switching device, because of the advantage in local mesh refinement and computer memory comparing with other methods. And Scharfetter-Gummel(S-G) scheme is applied, with which an accurate-seven point Gaussian Quadrature rule is combined. The existance of deed trap requires the modification of conventional equation set. So recombination rate equation is modified and a new equation is included in the equation set which conventionally consists of Poisson equation and current continuity equations.

  • Published correlation equations of the enthalpy of vaporization are reviewed and a new four-parameter correlation equation is proposed. Performance of the proposed equation is examined using the ASHRAE data for 22 pure substance refrigerants as reference data. The new equation yields an average absolute deviation of $0.05\%$, which is smaller than those of published equations, such as equations of Guermouche-Vergnaund $(0.08\%)$, Aerebrot $(0.13\%)$, Radoz-Lydersen $(0.08\%)$, and Somayajulu $(0.08\%)$. The three adjustable parameters of the modified correlation are optimized and reported for 22 substances. The equation proposed in this work is valid over the entire temperature range where data points exist.

  • Quantitation of ethenzamide, isopropylantipyrine and caffeine takes about 41 hrs by conventional GC method. Quantitation of allylisoprorylacetylurea takes about 40 hrs by conventional UV method. But quantitation of them takes about 6 hrs by DRIFT developing method. Each standard and sample sieved, powdered and acquired DRIFT spectrum. Out of them peak of each component was selected and ratio of each peak to standard peak was acquired, and then linear stepwise multiple regression was performed with these data and concentration. Reflectance value, Kubelka-Munk equation and Inverse-Kubelka-Munk equation were modified by us. Inverse-Kubelka-Munk equation completed the deficit of Kubelka-Munk equation. Correlation coefficients acquired by conventioanl GC and UV against DRIFT were more than 0.95.

  • This article explains how solitons propagate when there is a detuning factor involved. The explanation is based on the nonlinear complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, and we first consider this equation before systematically deriving its solutions using Jacobian elliptic functions. We illustrate that one specific ellipticity modulus is on the verge of occurring. The findings from this study can contribute to the understanding of previous research on the Ginzburg-Landau equation. Additionally, we utilize Jacobi's elliptic functions to define specific solutions, especially when the ellipticity modulus approaches either unity or zero. These solutions correspond to particular periodic wave solitons, which have been previously discussed in the literature.
