This work presents a modified continuum model to explore and investigate static and vibration behaviors of perforated piezoelectric NEMS structure. The perforated nanostructure is modeled as a thin perforated nanobeam element with Euler-Bernoulli kinematic assumptions. A size scale effect is considered by included a nonlocal constitutive equation of Eringen in differential form. Modifications of geometrical parameters of perforated nanobeams are presented in simplified forms. To satisfy the Maxwell's equation, the distribution of electric potential for the piezoelectric nanobeam model is assumed to be varied as a combination of a cosine and linear functions. Hamilton's principle is exploited to develop mathematical governing equations. Modified numerical finite model is adopted to solve the equation of motion and equilibrium equation. The proposed model is validated with previous respectable work. Numerical investigations are presented to illustrate effects of the number of perforated holes, perforation size, nonlocal parameter, boundary conditions, and external electric voltage on the electro-mechanical behaviors of piezoelectric nanobeams.
The existing code which solves two-dimensional RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) equations and 2-equation turbulence model equations was modified to enable numerical simulation of various supersonic flows. For this, various boundary conditions have been implemented to the code. Bleed boundary condition was incorporated into the code for calculating wall mean flow quantities. Furthermore, the boundary conditions for the turbulence quantities along rough surfaces as well as porous walls were applied to the code. The code was verified and validated by comparing the computational results against the experimental data for the supersonic flows over bleed region on a flat plate. Using the newly modified code, numerical simulations were performed and compared with other computational results as well as the experimental data for the supersonic flows over an oblique shock with a bleed region.
In this study, the vibration of an electrostatically actuated micro cantilever beam is analyzed in which a viscoelastic layer covers a portion of the micro beam length. This proposed model is considered as the main element of mass and pollutant micro sensors. The nonlinear motion equation is extracted by means of Hamilton principle, considering nonlinear shortening effect for Euler-Bernoulli beam. The non-linear effects of electrostatic excitation, geometry and inertia have been taken into account. The viscoelastic model is assumed as Kelvin-Voigt model. The motion equation is discretized by Galerkin approach. The linear free vibration mode shapes of non-uniform micro beam i.e. the linear mode shape of the system by considering the geometric and inertia effects of viscoelastic layer, have been employed as comparison function in the process of the motion equation discretization. The discretized equation of motion is solved by the use of multiple scale method of perturbation theory and the results are compared with the results of numerical Runge-Kutta approach. The frequency response variations for different lengths and thicknesses of the viscoelastic layer have been founded. The results indicate that if a constant volume of viscoelastic layer is to be deposited on the micro beam for mass or gas sensor applications, then a modified configuration may be found by using the analysis of this paper.

Studying unsaturated soil mechanics, determination of soil water characteristic curve and permeability equation is an essential factor but it is not easy. In this research a new testing apparatus was developed to determine soil water characteristic curve and permeability equation. The testing to get saturated permeability coefficients and soil water characteristic curves for two soils was performed by using the developed testing apparatus. First, a saturated permeability testing was performed and then the testing to get soil water characteristic curve of a drying process was performed. Next, the testing to get soil water characteristic curve of a wetting process was performed. Testing results showed hysteresis phenomena between soil water characteristic curve of a drying process and soil water characteristic curve of a wetting process. The permeability equations were determined by a theoretical method where a saturated permeability coefficient and a soil water characteristic curve were used.
The present study addresses the problem of quantitative prediction of effective complex relative permittivity of Barium Titanate/Polyvenylidene Fluoride (PVDF) and $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{0.94}Ba_{0.06}TiO_3$/Poly(VDF-TrFE) biphasic ceramic-polymer composites. Theoretical results for effective relative permittivity derived from several dielectric mixture equations were fitted to the experimental data taken from the works of Prasad et al. (2010), Wang et al. (2004), Takenaka et al. (1991) and Yamada et al. (1982). The study revealed that out of the different test equations, only a few equations like modified Rother-Lichtenecker equation, Dias-Dasgupta equation or Rao equation for the real part and Bruggeman equation for the imaginary part of complex permittivity well fitted the corresponding experimental results. In the present study, some of the equations were used in their original forms, while some others were modified by choosing suitable shape-dependent parameters in order to get reasonably good agreement with experimental results. Besides, the experimental results have been proposed in the form of a mathematical model using first order exponential growth, which provided excellent fits.
The dynamic response of two-dimensional unbounded domain on the rigid bedrock in the time domain is numerically obtained. It is realized by the modified scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM) in which the original scaling center is replaced by a scaling line. The formulation bases on expanding dynamic stiffness by using the continued fraction approach. The solution converges rapidly over the whole time range along with the order of the continued fraction increases. In addition, the method is suitable for large scale systems. The numerical method is employed which is a combination of the time domain SBFEM for far field and the finite element method used for near field. By using the continued fraction solution and introducing auxiliary variables, the equation of motion of unbounded domain is built. Applying the spectral shifting technique, the virtual modes of motion equation are eliminated. Standard procedure in structural dynamic is directly applicable for time domain problem. Since the coefficient matrixes of equation are banded and symmetric, the equation can be solved efficiently by using the direct time domain integration method. Numerical examples demonstrate the increased robustness, accuracy and superiority of the proposed method. The suitability of proposed method for time domain simulations of complex systems is also demonstrated.

For an organization to survive and prosper, it is essential to continuously develop innovative products by proactively anticipating consumers' implicit requirements. The Kano model has become more useful since Sireli et al. (2007) and Tontini (2007) introduced a simple equation for determining the importance of characteristics by using the concept of Kano's Potential Customer Satisfaction Coefficient (PCSC). However, although several studies have utilized the PCSC concept to determine the importance of characteristics, it is surprising that the two equations have been accepted without any validation process. This study aims to propose a modified equation using PCSC and to conduct a validity test of the proposed equation, demonstrating its superiority over the previously suggested two equations, The author analysed 26 Kano related articles (27 cases), and the correlation coefficients were compared with those obtained from direct rating importance, which served as a comparative criterion. The results indicate that the proposed equation is valid for assessing characteristic importance and demonstrates significantly higher correlation coefficients with the direct method than those suggested by Tontini (2007) and Siireli et al. (2007). The proposed method offers advantages in terms of accuracy and survey duration over traditional methods that directly ask for relative importance (e.g., AHP by Saaty (1980)). Furthermore, the integration of the Kano model with IPA or QFD could enhance the accuracy and efficiency of research in determining the importance of characteristics.

In this paper, the bellows problem under axial load were investigated. A modified energy theory, which has the improved strain energy and stress description taken from governing equation of general shells of revolution, were proposed. From the analysis, the results obtained from the modified theory were more accurate and in stable state with varing geometric parameter of bellows than those of other theory.
This article studies a modified BFGS algorithm for solving smooth unconstrained strongly convex minimization problem. The modified BFGS method is based on the new quasi-Newton equation $B_k+1{^s}_k=yk\;where\;y_k^*=yk+A_ks_k\;and\;A_k$ is a matrix. Wei, Li and Qi [WLQ] have proven that the average performance of two of those algorithms is better than that of the classical one. In this paper, we prove the global convergence of these algorithms associated to a general line search rule.
In this article, we discussed semi-analytical approximated methods for solving mixed Volterra-Fredholm integro-differential equations, namely: Adomian decomposition method and modified Adomian decomposition method. Moreover, we prove the uniqueness results and convergence of the techniques. Finally, an example is included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed techniques.
