아밀로오스 함량에 따른 옥테닐호박산 쌀전분의 제조 및 이화학적 특성 (Preparation and Physicochemical Characteristics of Octenyl Succinated Rice Starches Based on Amylose Content)

  • 쌀 전분의 아밀로오스 함량차이에 따른 옥테닐호박산(OSAn) 변성전분의 제조 특성 및 이화학적 특성을 검토하였다. 아밀로오스의 함량은 Jinsumi가 15.42%, Milyang 261은 34.21%였으며 전분 추출 후의 Jinsumi가 20.31%, Milyang 261은 39.32%였다. 치환도 및 반응효율은 Milyang 261이 각각 0.0137, 89.89%였으며 Jinsumi는 0.0144, 95.92%로 Jinsumi가 Milyang 261보다 높았다. 점도는 Jinsumi와 Milyang 261이 각각 30.1 cP 및 7.8 cP이었으며 옥테닐호박산을 이용한 변성전분의 경우 240.5 cP 및 162.6cP으로 상승하였다. 변성전분의 유화안정성은 두 품종 모두 대체적으로 안정하였으며 특히 Jinsumi는 높은 유화안정성을 보였으며, 변성전분을 부형제로 이용하여 미세캡슐화한 후의 코팅효율은 Jinsumi가 65.70-73.54%, Milyang 261이 29.45-36.98%로 나타나 분무건조를 통한 미세캡슐 효율은 Jinsumi가 높았다. 이러한 결과를 볼 때 분무건조를 통한 미세캡슐화의 피복물질 소재로서 변성을 통한 쌀 전분이 이용가치가 있을 것으로 사료되며 특히 Jinsumi가 Milyang 261에 비하여 높은 활용도를 가질 것이라 판단된다.

  • 화선찰 백미로부터 분리한 찹쌀 녹말을 옥테닐 석시닐 무수물(OSA)로 변성처리 하여 유화제로 사용하기 위해 OSA 1, 2, 3%를 가하여(pH 8.5, 6시간) 변성녹말을 제조하고 이화학 및 호화특성과 유화 안정성을 조사하였다. OSA 1, 2와 3%로 제조한 변성 찹쌀녹말의 치환도는 각각 0.0062, 0.0182 및 0.0214이었다. FT-IR로 분석한 모든 OSA 변성 녹말은 모두 1724와 $1572cm^{-1}$에서 약한 피크를 보였으며 치환도가 클수록 $3300cm^{-1}$의 피크는 감소하였다. X-선 회절도에 의한 결정형은 생 녹말과 같은 A 형이었고 입자 크기는 유사하였다. OSA 변성녹말은 피크 점성이 농도에 따라 증가하였고 초기호화온도와 피크온도 및 엔탈피는 감소하였다. OSA 변성녹말의 크리밍 지수는 OSA농도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 위 결과로부터 OSA변성 찹쌀녹말의 유화 안정성은 OSA 농도에 따라 증가함을 확인하였다.

양생조건 및 보수방법에 따른 폴리머시멘트모르타르의 강도 성상 (Strength Properties of Polymer-Modified Repair Mortars According to Curing Conditions and Repair Methods)

  • 본 연구는 3종류의 시멘트 혼화용 폴리머 (SBR, PA, St/BA)를 이용하여 폴리머시멘트계 보수재의 개발을 목적으로 공시체의 제작 방법을 6가지 형태로 하여 제작한 폴리머시멘트모르타르 보수재에 대하여, 기중양생, 수중양생, 기중양생 후 동결융해 작용 및 수중양생 후 동결융해 작용을 받는 4가지 양생방법을 적용하였다. 그리고 폴리머의 종류, 양생조건, 폴리머시멘트비에 따른 폴리머시멘트모르타르 보수재의 강도 성상을 파악하고, 휨강도 시험 후의 계면 접착 파괴 유형을 검토하였다. 그 결과, 일부의 모르타르를 제외하면, 폴리머의 종류에 따른 폴리머시멘트모르타르 보수재의 압축강도 및 휨강도는 양생조건에 관계없이 St/BA를 혼입한 폴리머시멘트모르타르 보수재가 SBR 또는 PA를 이용한 것보다 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 폴리머시멘트모르타르 보수재의 휨강도 시험 후 파괴 유형은 공시체의 형상과 폴리머시멘트비에 관계없이 모든 공시체에서 계면 접착 파괴는 발생하지 않았다. 이는 폴리머 혼입에 의한 접착성 개선에 의한 것으로 판단된다. 보통시멘트모르타르에 폴리머시멘트모르타르 보수재를 적용함으로써 기중양생 또는 수중양생 후 동결융해의 반복 작용을 받는 열악한 환경하에서도 보통시멘트모르타르보다 강도 저하가 작게 나타나 폴리머 혼입에 의한 동결융해저항성능을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 폴리머시멘트모르타르를 다양한 양생조건과 보수방법에서 사용할 때 나타나는 강도 특성, 내동결융해성능 및 휨 접착 파괴 유형을 알 수 있었다.

The Quality Improvement of Emulsion-type Pork Sausages Formulated by Substituting Pork Back fat with Rice Bran Oil

  • The effects of pork back fat (PBF) substitution with various concentrations of rice bran oil (RBO) (50%, 45%, 40% and 35%) on the physicochemical characteristics and sensory attributes of emulsion-type pork sausages were studied. The modified pork sausages were compared with control sausages produced using PBF only. The sausages with RBO had significantly lower (p<0.05) moisture content than the control sausages. Sausages made from PBF substituted with 40% RBO showed the lowest cooking loss. Substitution of PBF with RBO had no significant effect on the emulsion stability of pork sausages. All sausages with RBO showed significantly lower (p<0.05) hardness values than control sausages. Sausages with RBO also had significantly higher values (p<0.05) of unsaturated fatty acid and polyunsaturated to saturated fatty acid contents than the controls. RBO substitution had no effect on the flavor intensity of sausages, but it improved the tenderness and produced a softer texture.

Emulsion Polymerization of Co-polymers Having Both Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic Side Chains and Their Adhesion Properties

  • We have studied on the surface and adhesion properties for acrylic terpolymers, having both hydrophobic and hydrophilic side chains, synthesized via solution polymerization. In order to develop a waterborne material. we tried to synthesize these terpolymers via emulsion polymerization. The polymeric emulsion synthesized was mainly composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA), methoxy-polyethyleneglycol methacrylate (MPEGMA) having hydrophilic side chains and methoxypolypropyleneglycol methacrylate (MPEGMA) having hydrophobic side chains. The viscosities of this series increased with an increase in the content of the co-monomer such as MPEGMA and (MPEGMA). This behavior resulted in the increase in the diameter and heterogeneity of the emulsion particle via AFM observation. Furthermore. the tensile adhesion strength and 90-degree peel strength of the adhesive of these polymeric emulsions were measured. In the case of polymeric emulsion composed of the same content of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic component, the adhesion property showed the highest value. However, since the adhesion properties as a practical applicable adhesive were poor, some improvements were required. When the composition above was modified with butyl acrylate (BA), the improvement effect on adhesion strength was accepted. In particular, 90-degree peel strength increased up to a maximum of 400% of the original value.

  • Modified polycrylonitrile(PAN) membranes were prepared by emulsion or emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization technique. Separation capacity was determined at several operating temperatures(25, 40, 55 and 70 $^{\circ}$C) to dehydrate 56wt% pyridine aqueous solution through modified PAN membranes having different functional groups. All these PAN-based membranes were selective toward water to different degrees depending on the nature of functional groups present in the membranes. Pervaporation characteristics of PAN-based membranes are so different and classified into three categories depending on the type of the functional groups in PAN copolymers. Among PAN-based membranes, the in-situ complex membranes show the best separation capacity over the operating temperatures.

  • The work was initiated to investigate the electrokinetic properties of a MF membrane using streaming potential measurement when oil emulsion was separated. The original and the surface modified PP membrane were examined by using flux and streaming potentials for the characterization of fouling phenomena of the PP membrane. The membrane surface was modified by a radiation grafting technique. The streaming potentials of the PP membranes were varied the charge distribution modifying by changing the pH, ionic strength, and concentrations the surfactants in oil emulsion. The shiftness to the more positive values of isoelectric point of the PP membrane was significant especially in the presence of surfactants or the surface modification.

Preparation and Characterization of Coating Solution Based on Waterborne Polyurethane Dispersion containing Fluorine for Primer on Electro Galvanized Steel Sheet

  • The purpose of this research was to synthesize fluorine modified waterborne polyurethane dispersion (F-WPU) by soap-free (internal emulsifier) emulsion polymerization techniques, to prepare coating solution based on fluorine modified waterborne polyurethane dispersion (F-WPU) and to compare the chemical and thermo-mechanical properties on the electrogalvanized steel sheet. Environmentally friendly F-WPU was prepared with a fluorinated polyol containing 60 wt% of fluorine. There are various ways of combining a wide variety of fluorinated polyols and diisocyanate to exhibit novel properties of waterborne polyurethane dispersion. Components of coating solution were largely divided into 4 kinds i.e., F-WPU, acrylic emulsion, silane coupling agent, and colloidal silicate. F-WPU coating solution on the electro-galvanized steel sheet showed excellent properties of corrosion resistance, alkali resistance and heat resistance, as compared to other coating solutions using a general waterborne resin. The F-WPU coating solution's reliable effects are possibly due to the fluorine atoms incorporated even in a small amount of F-WPU.

Development of new food protein through chemical modification of rice bran proteins

  • Protein concentrate was produced and succinylated from rice bran to assess and improve its functional properties for the purpose of expanding the uses of rice bran proteins. The most effective solvent for the extraction of rice bran proteins was 20% aqueous ethanol at pH 9. The protein content of rice bran protein concentrate produced was 70.0% and the total protein yield was 64.3%. The extent of succinylation of free amino groups in the modified products was 72.8%. Though the modified protein products showed good functional properties including solubility, emulsion properties, and oil absorption capacity, it did not form gel. Succinylation improved solubility and emulsion and gelling properties. These improvements in functionality will enhance the value of rice bran proteins, thus enabling them to be more competitive with other food proteins.

스프레이 패칭 긴급보수용 개질 유화 아스팔트와 100% 순환골재를 사용한 상온 아스팔트 혼합물의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of 100% RAP Asphalt Mixtures using Rapid-Setting Polymer-Modified Asphalt Emulsion for Spray Injection Application)

  • PURPOSES: The objective of this study was to determine the optimum ratio of mix design, for a reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) content of 100%, for spray injection application. METHODS: A literature review revealed that spray injection is an efficient and cost-effective application for fixing small defective regions of an asphalt pavement. Rapid-setting polymer-modified asphalt mixtures prepared from two types of rapid-setting polymer asphalt emulsion were subjected to Marshall stability and wet track abrasion tests, in order to identify the optimum mix designs. RESULTS and CONCLUSIONS : Different mix designs of type A and type B emulsions were prepared using RAP and virgin aggregates, in order to compare the performance and determine the optimum mix design. The performance of mixtures prepared with RAP was superior to that of mixtures containing virgin aggregates. Moreover, for optimum ratio of the design, the binder content prepared from RAP was set to 1~2% lower than that consisting of virgin aggregates. Compared to their Type A counterparts, type B mixtures consisting of a reactive emulsion performed better in the Marshall stability and wet track abrasion tests. The initial results confirmed the advantages associated with using RAP for spray injection applications. Further studies will be performed to verify the difference in the optimum mix design and performance obtained in the lab-scale test and tests conducted at the job site by using the spray injection machine.
