Thin films of two kinds of Prussian Blue (PB)-modified, using iron(Ⅲ) complex instead of conventional FeCl3, were prepared on a gold substrate and these films were able to be electrochemically reduced in potassium nitrate solution. In case of PB-modified films prepared from Fe(Ⅲ)-ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic acid (FeEN3+)/K3Fe(CN)6 solution, the mid-peak potential was 0.156 V in 0.1 M KNO3 and it was found that potassium ion migrates into or out of the film during the electrolysis. These films were shown to be electrochromic. These films exhibited smaller peak separation than those formed from Fe(Ⅲ)-tartaric acid (FeTA3+)/K3Fe(CN)6 system. The diffusion coefficient of Fe(CN)63-/4- redox couple, evaluated using the fabricated Au rotating disc electrode(rde) previously reported, was in good agreement with the existing data. Two experimental procedures, including the voltammetry at relatively low scan rates and the rde study, have been used in order to characterize the electrode kinetics. The electrode kinetics of some redox couples (FeEN2+-FeEN3+ and FeTA2+-FeTA3+) on both PB-modified thin films and bare Au electrode were studied using a Au rde. In all cases the rate constants of electron transfer obtained with the PB-modified film electrodes were only slightly less than those obtained for the same reaction on bare Au disc electrodes. The conductivities, as determined from the slopes of the i-V curves for a ca. 1 mm sample for dried PB-modified potassium-rich and deficient bulk samples pressed between graphite electrodes, were 6.21 × 10-7 and 2.03 × 10-7(Ω·cm)-1, respectively.
Determination of cobalt(III) ion with a perfluorinated sulfonated polymer-ethylenediamine (nafion-en) modified glassy carbon electrode is studied. It is based on the chemical reactivity of an immobilized layer, nafion-en, to yield complex $[Co(en)_3]^{3+}$. The reduction peak potential by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) is observed at $-0.437{\pm}0.047$ V (vs. Ag/AgCl). The linear calibration curve is obtained in cobalt(III) ion concentration range $1.0{\times}10^{-8}{\sim}1.0{\times}10^{-3}M$ ($5.893{\times}10^{-12}{\sim}5.893{\times}10^{-5}g/mL$).
Herein, insoluble single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) was successfully dispersed into water in the presence of a special kind of surfactant-dicetyl phosphate (DCP), subsequently, a SWNT-DCP composite film coated glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated. The electrochemical behaviors of 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BAP) at the unmodified GCE and SWNT-DCP modified GCE were examined. It is found that the SWNT-DCP modified GCE remarkably enhances the oxidation peak current of 6-BAP, indicating great potential in the determination of trace level of 6-BAP. Finally, a sensitive and simple voltammetric method with a good linear relationship in the range of ${\times}5.0\;\;10^{-8}\sim 2.5\;{\times}\;10^{-6}$ mol/L, was developed for the determination of 6-BAP. The detection limit is as low as $2.0\;{\times}\;10^{-8}$ mol/L for 3-min accumulation. This newly-proposed method was successfully demonstrated with practical samples.
The effect of polyoxometalate monolayers on the electrodeposition of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) on glassy carbon (GC) surfaces was examined by electrochemical and scanning electron microscope techniques. The presence of $SiMo_{12}O^{4-}_{40}$-layers resulted in average particle sizes of ca. 60 nm, which is larger than AuNPs deposited on bare GC surfaces. AuNPs electrodeposited on $SiMo_{12}O^{4-}_{40}$-modified GC surfaces for 20 s exhibited the best electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction. This system exhibited similar or slightly better efficiency for oxygen reduction than a bare Au electrode. Rotating disk electrode experiments were also performed and revealed that the catalytic reduction of oxygen on AuNPs deposited on $SiMo_{12}O^{4-}_{40}$-modified GC electrodes is a two-electron process.
A glassy carbon electrode(GCE) modified with nafion-DTPA (diethylene triamine-pentaacetic acid)-glycerol is used for the highly selective and sensitive determination of a trace amount of Cu(II). Various experimental parameters, which influenced the response of nafion-DTPA-glycerol modified electrode to Cu(II), are optimized. The Copper(II) is accumulated on the electrode surface by the formation of the complex in an open circuit, and the resulting surface is characterized by medium exchange, electrochemical reduction, and differential pulse voltammetry(DPV). The electrochemical response is evaluated with respect to concentration of modifier, pH and preconcentration time, quiet time, copper(II) concentration, and other variables. A linear range is obtained in the concentration range 1.0${\times}$10$^{-8}$ M-1.0${\times}$10$^{-6}$ MCu(II) with 7 min preconcentration time. The detection limit(3s) is as low as 2.36${\times}$10$^{-8}$ M (1.50 ppb).
This paper describes the simple fabrication of an electrode modified with electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) for the simultaneous electrocatalytic detection of dopamine (DA), ascorbic acid (AA), and uric acid (UA). ERGO was formed on a glassy carbon (GC) electrode by the reduction of graphene oxide (GO) using linear sweep voltammetry. The ERGO/GC electrode was formed by subjecting a GO solution ($1mg\;mL^{-1}$ in 0.25 M NaCl) to a linear scan from 0 V to -1.4 V at a scan rate of $20mVs^{-1}$. The ERGO/GC electrode was characterized by Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, contact angle measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical performance of the ERGO/GC electrode with respect to the detection of DA, AA, and UA in 0.1 M PBS (pH 7.4) was investigated by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and amperometry. The ERGO/GC electrode exhibited three well-separated voltammetric peaks and increased oxidation currents during the DPV measurements, thus allowing for the simultaneous and individual detection of DA, AA, and UA. The detection limits for DA, AA, and UA were found to be 0.46, 77, and $0.31{\mu}M$ respectively, using the amperometric i-t curve technique, with the S/N ratio being 3.
Levodopa or L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) is the direct precursor of the neurotransmitter dopamine. L-DOPA is a well-known neuroprotective agent for the treatment of Parkinson's disease symptoms. L-DOPA was synthesized using the enzyme, tyrosinase, as a biocatalyst for the conversion of L-tyrosine to L-DOPA and an electrochemical method for reducing L-DOPAquinone, the product resulting from enzymatic synthesis, to L-DOPA. In this study, three electrode systems were used: A glassy carbon electrode (GCE) as working electrode, a platinum, and a Ag/AgCl electrode as auxiliary and reference electrodes, respectively. GCE has been modified using electropolymerization of pyrrole to facilitate the electron transfer process and immobilize tyrosinase. Optimum conditions for the electropolymerization modified electrode were a temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ and a pH of 7 producing L-DOPA concentration 0.315 mM. After 40 days, the relative activity of an enzyme for electropolymerization remained 38.6%, respectively.
In this paper, we have investigated the characteristics of cyclic voltammetry of a self-assembled mono-layer(SAM) electrode which was modified by 3-Mercaptopropionic acid (3-MPA) on gold nanoparticle(AuNP)-deposited electrode. Also, the transport phenomena of electrons and ions around the electrode have been analyzed. The governing equation and its boundary conditions by adopting the semi-infinite diffusion model were formulated for the mass-transfer dominant system. In order to obtain the numerical solutions of cyclic voltammetry(CV) on SAM electrodes, MATLAB program was implemented by applying the explicit finite difference method. Resulting CV program for the SAM-modified electrode was verified in good agreements with the experimental CV results for the 3-MPA on AuNP electrode.
A Polythiophene-quinoline/glassy carbon (PTQ/GC) modified electrode was developed for the determination of trace mercury in industrial waste water, natural water, soil, and other media. The electrode was prepared by the cyclic voltammetric polymerization of thiophene and quinoline on glassy carbon (GC) electrode by the potential application from -0.6 V to +2.0 V (50 mV/sec) in a solution of 0.1 M thiophene, quinoline and tetrabutyl ammonium perchlorate (TBAP) in acetonitrile. Optimum thickness of the polymer membrane on the GC electrode was obtained with 20 repeated potential cyclings. The redox behavior of Cu(Ⅱ) and Hg(Ⅱ) were almost identical on this electrode. The addition of 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) to the solution containing Cu(Ⅱ) and Hg(Ⅱ) allowed the separation of the components due to the formation of the Cu(Ⅱ)-PAR complex reduced at -0.8V, which was different from the Hg(Ⅱ) reduced at -0.5 V on a saturated calomel electrode (SCE). The calibration graph of Hg(Ⅱ) shows good linear relationship with the correlation factor of 0.9995 and the concentration gradient of 0.33 ㎂/㎠/ppb down to 0.4 ppb Hg. The method developed was successfully applied to the determination of mercury in samples such as river, waste water, and sea water.

In this study, modified PbTi $O_3$ ceramics was manufactured to apply for 30MHz SMD type ceramic resonator with the variations of electrode weight. To investigate the effects of electrode weight on resonant characteristics of ceramic resonator using 3$^{rd}$ overtone thickness vibration mode, ceramic wafers for resonator were fabricated by evaporating electrode weights of 0.66, 1.765, 2.32, 3.87$\times$ 10$^{-4}$ g/c $m^2$ with silver, respectively. And then, SMD type ceramic resonators were fabricated with the size of 3.7$\times$3.1mm and electrode radius size of 0.77mm. With increasing electrode weight, resonant resistance was gradually decreased. At the electrode weight of 2.32$\times$10$_{-4}$ g/c $m^2$, mechanical quality factor( $Q_{mt3}$) and dynamic range(D.R) showed the maximum value of 2,152 and 49dB, respectively.
