  • The "cognitive warfare," which has emerged as a result of the Ukrainian-Russian war, has already existed in the previous war and is now emerging as a major aspect of the war, its meaning and influence are increasing. Recognizing the emergence and importance of cognitive warfare and understanding the meaning and characteristics of cognitive warfare must be accompanied by victory in the modern war. After Russia's alleged involvement in the U.S. presidential election in 2016 drew attention, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in 2021 confirmed its upward influence. In particular, 'cognitive warfare' using SNS played a major role in leading the war to its advantage and maintaining the initiative by selecting clear purposes and targets such as the international community, the people, and Hamas. This new pattern of war is gradually emerging as the world is hyper connected with the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It is expected that it will play a leading role in the future battle if it clearly recognizes the main contents of the new war, "Injijeon," and has the ability and ability to actively operate it.

  • The paradigm of military operations has evolved from platform-centric warfare to network-centric warfare and further to information-centric warfare, driven by advancements in information technology. In recent years, with the development of cutting-edge technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT), military operations are transitioning towards knowledge-centric warfare (KCW), based on artificial intelligence. Consequently, the military places significant emphasis on integrating advanced information and communication technologies (ICT) to establish reliable C4I (Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence) systems. This research emphasizes the need to apply data mining techniques to analyze and evaluate various aspects of C4I systems, including enhancing combat capabilities, optimizing utilization in network-based environments, efficiently distributing information flow, facilitating smooth communication, and effectively implementing knowledge sharing. Data mining serves as a fundamental technology in modern big data analysis, and this study utilizes it to analyze real-world cases and propose practical strategies to maximize the efficiency of military command and control systems. The research outcomes are expected to provide valuable insights into the performance of C4I systems and reinforce knowledge-centric warfare in contemporary military operations.

  • The study is based on the elaborated normative and legal documentation regulating the national security of modern Ukraine and the normative and legal documents adopted by NATO in the responding policy to the challenges that arose after 2014. The main advantages of cooperation with NATO are ensuring military security, developing army standards, improving the country's investment climate, and reducing expenditures on the army. The disadvantages of cooperation with NATO in hostilities with Russia are not highlighted. Still, defined obstacles show that Ukraine is not ready to realize entry into NATO in the short term. Such factors include weak information support, corruption, and unclear diplomatic decisions.

  • It is essential for the combined military weapon system to be equipped with interoperability for the efficient combat operation in the modern warfare environment. Since most of modern military systems utilize the electromagnetic wave for the radio communication in the network-centric warfare system, they can be vulnerable to the mutual interference among the adjacent combined military systems. In this paper, the typical radio communication systems are modeled with the modulation types of both spread and non-spread spectrum system. The various interference signals were generated for the simulation of the mutual interference influence from the adjacent radar and communication systems. The simulation results show that the detection performance of the victim communication receiver is seriously affected by the various interferences such as the types of modulation and the ratio of the overlapping bandwidth of the adjacent interferers. This result will be useful for defining the criteria of the interference protection in the combined military system for the interoperability in the future.

  • Modern warfare, which adopt an intensive technique of applied sciences, is difficult to predict, and has a high complexity. Thus, it is necessary to build a battle-field environment and simulation-based analysis. Various organizations are participated to build battlefield model for defense M&S according to a scale and format. On the basis of this trend, approaching from various systems is needed to reconfigure battlefield modeling for distributed system. This paper proposes building design for battlefield simulation environment with a sample of one-to-one single unit engagement model. The proposed method can expect to utilize an example of distributed environment for various participants that are involved in battlefield modeling and simulation.

  • NCW which is shaping favorable conditions with obtaining initiative through superiority in C2 and information sharing is critical to the result of the war in a modern warfare. An important requirement to attain superiority through an effective networking in a war-environment is to apply QoS to ensure priority in supporting critical mission and services. In order to obtain an effective NCOE through JCS-led QoS support, standard doucments have been reviewed and analyzed to understand the current level of technology and development. In addition, QoS-related policy documents which is currently being applied by the ROK armed forces have been analyzed to substantiated the JCS-led QoS model and propose the directions of development and enhancement required in the realm of technology, policy and system.

  • In modern war information system development makes battlefield materialize, and combat factors can maximize combat power exhibition as that apply synchronization. Information system is the core of combat power operation under NCW(Network centric Warfare). This paper proposed a new MOE(Measure of Effectiveness) that can assess the combat power synergistic effect of information system at the theater joint fire operation in NCW environment. This methodology applied the rule of Newton's second law $F=(m{\Delta}{\upsilon})/t{\Rightarrow}(M{\upsilon}I)/T$) Details factor in combat power evaluation is as following. (1) M : Network power; (2) v : Movement velocity; (3) I : Information superiority; (4) T : C2(command and control) time. We applied this methodology to the "JFOS-K(Joint Fire Operating System-Korea) in Joint Chief of Staff" in the real military affair section.

  • Recently, several researches are focused on the frequency sharing and the liberalization of frequency use for utilizing the limited frequency resources efficiently. In military, as Network Centric Warfare(NCW), which requires significant mutual operability of battle elements and real-time operation speed, has come to the fore front as an important aspect of modern warfare, the methods to manage limited frequency resources in wireless communications environment efficiently has been studied and utilized. In this paper, we propose a Spectrum COP(Common Operation Picture) design suitable for the battlefields of air force. To construct the Spectrum COP of Air Force, we analyze the requirements and design the frequency management system by using EA(Enterprise Architecture) Framework. The simulation results of the proposed design proved the effectiveness by using EADSIM(Extended Air Defense Simulation) of Air Force.
