The main focus of this paper is to apply contemporary aesthetics and psychological study with interior design analysis. Up to now, the methodology of interior design analysis has been developed toward a more qualitative way. By the virtue of the perception , congnition , and information theory, which oriented toward a quantitative approach, it became possible to investigate interior space analysis to a more objective and scientific ways. The purpose of this study is to investigate Modern and Post-Modern interior - architectural style with quantitative analytical method. The subjective interior critique studied by intuitive research will be transferred to scientific way by using quantitative formula . Savoye Villa and Guardiola House were selected as study model, because each architectural works ware regarded as masterpieces of Modern and Post-Modern style. These two oppositional style model will be distinguished with mathematical quantity by calculating Iave , Hmax, and Redundancy formula.

Feminist artists are special in Chinese modern art. Sticking to their own artistic ideas, they constantly emphasize women's psychological characteristics and aesthetic values in their works under the background of modern society. Since feminism was introduced into China from western arts in the 1970s, it has greatly inspired Chinese female artists. This study used comparative analysis and correlation analysis to establish the connection between the works of local Chinese female artists and modern women's wear design, this connection is the common language form of Chinese female artists and modern fashion designers when expressing female psychology and aesthetics. This is a way for Chinese female artists to seek dialogue with Western and global female art, and the development characteristics of the localization of feminism in Chinese art and design. The significance of the research is to improve the international artistic atmosphere of Chinese feminist art and instill a new understanding of Chinese feminist art in the world.

The materials on the development of modern architecture in Korea are being collected and organized in a systemic fashion. However, this is not the case with the materials relative to interior design. They are gradually disappearing or being lost. In particular, no serious attempt has yet been made to determine the characteristics and historic value of the interior design of the modern bank buildings. The purpose of this study is to trace the disappearing legacy of the interior design of modern bank buildings by learning the inner space arrangements of these buildings and the characteristics of modern interior design in order to determine the historic significance of modern commercial interior design. Banks of relatively large scale were selected for the purpose of this study. They consisted of: Chosun Bank(1911) and its Andong, Wonsan and Cheongjin branches; Chosun Shiksan Banks and its Busan, Daegu and Pyongyang branches; the Busan branch of the 18 Bank; Dongil Bank, Chosun Savings Bank(1935) and their branches. The study focused on the space arrangements and design characteristics of these banks. Although they aimed at modernization in designingtheir interior spaces, the modern bank buildings were not representative of any particular style of interior design. While western style designs were prevalent, eclectic designs incorporating many different styles existed. The characteristics of the interior design of banks of the time included installation of such decorations and use of high quality construction materials for interior and exterior expressing the wealth as to create an aura of credibility for the banks, while the floor arrangements were relatively stereotyped and simplified.

This study was carried out to review the characteristics of the Swedish modern furniture design and the works of Bruno Mathsson, who is appreciated as one of the most important furniture designers in the history of modern Swedish design. First, the authors examined how the Swedish designers set the value of warm, graceful humanity, practical simplicity, and the traditional craftsmanship in their furniture design with modernist ideology. Second, by examining the range of Bruno Mathsson's works from the 1930s to the 1980s, the authors searched for how these works show the realized models of the ideals of Swedish modern furniture. In this, this article explains that Mathsson's works and the modern Swedish furniture could have been regarded and beloved as being innovative and modern for more than 50 years for their friendliness to human body by the ergonomic structure and to human feeling by the quality of natural materials and finishes. In addition, their consistent effort to adopt traditional craftsmanship into functionalist ideals of modern design shows how these furniture designs could have keep the lasting quality in the life of people in different time frames.

This article aimed at understanding the characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s in the reference to the major paradigm changes in the contemporary design field. For this, the authors examined the theoretical background of modern and post-modern design paradigms to identify today's design tendencies. And we used this frame in the analysis of the latest examples of Swedish furniture design. The main characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s included 'furniture as art object', 'the succession of the Swedish Modern (neo-modernism)', and 'conscious design for sustainable development'. These could be viewed as the consequences of the choices that the Swedish furniture industry and designers made during the last decade, that was to take plurality and contradiction as the accompanying values of the traditional Swedish modern design.

In the early twentieth century, many architects still practised eclectic design elements. Emergence of new building materials such as steel, concrete and glass were not yet found fresh roles in architectural design. It was Brussels that the use of modern materials gave rise to their new forms and gave influence to not only building skins but also spatial organization. Art Nouveau architecture is often seen as revolutionary and pioneering modern architecture against eclectic classicism prevalent in the 18th and 19th centuries. Despite the fact that some scholars point out that Art Nouveau is more a transient phenomenon than modern architecture proper, no one would deny that Art Nouveau carries a good deal of modern characteristics. This paper intends to show rather ambivalent perspectives upon Art Nouveau architecture. Although it insinuates overly dynamic nature in architectural languages, it does not hamper us from reading Art Nouveau as a vital component of modern architecture. Through a careful analysis of the early domestic designs of Victor Horta, it becomes evident that his work can provide modern architecture a meaningful alibi for its growth. Victor Horta's house design is well known to the public, both for his classical tastes and for its changing implementation. Horta's modern quality is never adequately recognized, partly due to his eye catching modern iron properties and sinuous ornamentation. This paper tries to offer an insight into the complicated stage set of the fin-de-$si{\grave{e}}cle$ through the work of Victor Horta whose influence has been immense in the making of modern architecture.

Street furniture such as benches, streetlamps, and shades which are easily accessible in cities has contributed to the promotion of active, lively environment for people living in cities. Furthermore, they make the characteristics of specific regions and cities, and are valued as a communication interface to restore the relationships between people and cities. The street furniture design with inherent publicness is an essential element for leisurely life and refined image of modern people who have experienced severance and mental poverty in uniform, vertical modern city space with the development of advanced science and technology. The purpose of this study is to analyze the new design approaches to street furniture which plays an important role in the determination of the images of modern city environment and to examine the characteristics and trends of such designs. First, in accordance with the flow of studies from publicness and public space to street furniture, the concept and meaning of publicness which is the basic element of public space were identified through theoretical examination, and the characteristics and roles of modern public space were analyzed through literature review, data review, and international cases. Based on the results of this theoretical analysis, the concept and meaning elements, function elements, and design elements of the street furniture which was planned in accordance with the goal and functions of public space were identified. For the meaning elements of street furniture design, fun, health, culture, sustainability, and vitalization were identified. For the function elements of street furniture design, convenience, safety, and delivery were identified. As the characteristics of modern street furniture design, convergent, green, digilog, functional, and universal designs were analyzed. This study is meaningful in that it recognized the roles of street furniture in modern public space as a concrete, practical environmental design element and estimated the development directions of street furniture design in public space.

The painting style has much influenced on the creativity of design in the developmental process of modern fashion. This fact tells that pure art and fashion design have the same purpose in the end. In this paper. the color Autonomy of Matisse was analyzed and how its result influences on modern fashion design was investigated. Matisse is, in fact. the leader of Fauvism and the painter who brought the Fauvism painting to its perfection in the purest state. Matisse achieved the revolution of new color with only the color in expressing formative factor. Matisse's color autonomy are fusion technique, flatness, decoration, simplicity, etc. To sum up the influence that this autonomy played on modern fashion design, intensive pure color expression, strongly-supplemented color effect among primary colors, decoration of color, simplicity of color, that is to say. he gave rise to the revolution of color, Many modern designers are applying this method to the theme of fashion and motive, color the technique of expression. Thanks to this. the new formative artistic expression could be adapted in fashion, and it also induced the inspiration of original design, with great contribution to bringing the era of its own distinct individualism in modern times.

This study examines the space composition and character of German Modern Theater barre on the theory of typology and interpreter in the european traditional classic theater. Contemporary multi purpose theater and public space is considered as a symbolic representation of the classic theater's organization. In the historical theory, modern theater was a common tool and best systeme in reflecting people's lives. This role of greece-roman theater as life cycle and new style of theater permanent design has get its value with the population increase and the urban centralization of the city and urban common sense. This study attempts to reevaluate the need of space typology in modern society through a critical review of theater and its use as a open space design. Content analysis was used to discuss the topics of this study including the historical background of the theater, the relationship between amphitheater and modern theater design, and the role of scenery, auditorium and its impact on urban environment. The scope of the study is limited to the comparison of classic theater and german modern theater space use program from the space critic and sociologist. Today the concept of theatrical space is altered with the typology of classic and interpreter space. This study provides insights for the future implications of theatrical space in developing public space for its a new definition as cultural representation.
