Simulation means modeling structures or behaviors of the various objects, and experimenting them on the computer system. And the major approaches are DEVS(Discrete Event Systems Specification). Petri-net or Automata and so on. But, the simulation problems are getting more complex or complicated these days, so that an intelligent agent-based is being studied. In this paper, we are describing an intelligent agent-based simulation tool, which can supports the simulation experiment more efficiently. The significances of our system can be described as follows. First, the system can provide some AI algorithms through the system libraries. Second, the system supports simple method of designing the simulation model, since it's been built under the Finite State Machine (FSM) structure. And finally, the system acts as a simulation framework by supporting user not only the simulation engine, but also user-friendly tools, such as modeler scriptor and simulator. The system mainly consists of main simulation engine, utility tools, and some other assist tools, and it is tested and showed some efficient results in the three different problems.

This study aimed at constructing a draft genome of the adult female worm Toxocara canis using next-generation sequencing (NGS) and de novo assembly, as well as to find new genes after annotation using functional genomics tools. Using an NGS machine, we produced DNA read data of T. canis. The de novo assembly of the read data was performed using SOAPdenovo. RNA read data were assembled using Trinity. Structural annotation, homology search, functional annotation, classification of protein domains, and KEGG pathway analysis were carried out. Besides them, recently developed tools such as MAKER, PASA, Evidence Modeler, and Blast2GO were used. The scaffold DNA was obtained, the N50 was 108,950 bp, and the overall length was 341,776,187 bp. The N50 of the transcriptome was 940 bp, and its length was 53,046,952 bp. The GC content of the entire genome was 39.3%. The total number of genes was 20,178, and the total number of protein sequences was 22,358. Of the 22,358 protein sequences, 4,992 were newly observed in T. canis. Following proteins previously unknown were found: E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase cbl-b and antigen T-cell receptor, zeta chain for T-cell and B-cell regulation; endoprotease bli-4 for cuticle metabolism; mucin 12Ea and polymorphic mucin variant C6/1/40r2.1 for mucin production; tropomodulin-family protein and ryanodine receptor calcium release channels for muscle movement. We were able to find new hypothetical polypeptides sequences unique to T. canis, and the findings of this study are capable of serving as a basis for extending our biological understanding of T. canis.

This paper proposes an efficient CABAC encoder to reduce syntax element storage in H.264/AVC entropy coding. In the proposed architecture, all blocks are designed in dedicated hardware, so it performs fast processing without programmable processors. Context modeler of CABAC encoder requires the neighbor block data. However it requires impractically huge memory size if the neighbor block data is directly stored without proper processing. Therefore, this paper proposes an effective method of storing the neighbor block data to decrease memory size. The proposed CABAC encoder has 35,463 gates in 0.18um standard cell library. It operates at maximum speed of 180MHz and its throughput is about 1 cycle per input symbol.
PURPOSES : Traffic accidents at intersections have been increased annually so that it is required to examine the causations to reduce the accidents. However, the current existing accident models were developed mainly with non-linear regression models such as Poisson methods. These non-linear regression methods lack to reveal complicated causations for traffic accidents, though they are right choices to study randomness and non-linearity of accidents. Therefore, to reveal the complicated causations of traffic accidents, this study used structural equation methods(SEM). METHODS : SEM used in this study is a statistical technique for estimating causal relations using a combination of statistical data and qualitative causal assumptions. SEM allow exploratory modeling, meaning they are suited to theory development. The method is tested against the obtained measurement data to determine how well the model fits the data. Among the strengths of SEM is the ability to construct latent variables: variables which are not measured directly, but are estimated in the model from several measured variables. This allows the modeler to explicitly capture the unreliability of measurement in the model, which allows the structural relations between latent variables to be accurately estimated. RESULTS : The study results showed that causal factors could be grouped into 3. Factor 1 includes traffic variables, and Factor 2 contains turning traffic variables. Factor 3 consists of other road element variables such as speed limits or signal cycles. CONCLUSIONS : Non-linear regression models can be used to develop accident predictions models. However, they lack to estimate causal factors, because they select only few significant variables to raise the accuracy of the model performance. Compared to the regressions, SEM has merits to estimate causal factors affecting accidents, because it allows the structural relations between latent variables. Therefore, this study used SEM to estimate causal factors affecting accident at urban signalized intersections.

In this paper, dynamic GTS scheduling method based on IEEE 802.15.4 is proposed for wireless control system considering reliability and real-time property. The proposed methods can guarantee a transmission of real-time periodic and sporadic data within the limited time frame in factory environment. The superframe of IEEE 802.15.4 is used for the dynamic transmission method of real-time mixed traffic (periodic data, sporadic data, and non real-time message). By separating CFP and CAP properly, the periodic, sporadic, and non real-time messages are transmitted effectively and guarantee real-time transmission within a deadline. The simulation results show the improvement of real-time performance of periodic and sporadic data at the same time.
This paper proposes an image-based modeling method which recovers 3D models using projected line segments in multiple images. Using the method, a user obtains accurate 3D model data via several steps of simple manual works. The embedded nonlinear minimization technique in the model parameter estimation stage is based on the distances between the user provided image line segments and the projected line segments of primitives. We define an error using a finite line segment and thus increase accuracy in the model parameter estimation. The error is defined as the sum of differences between the observed image line segments provided by the user and the predicted image line segments which are computed using the current model parameters and camera parameters. The method is robust in a sense that it recovers 3D structures even from partially occluded objects and it does not be seriously affected by small measurement errors in the reconstruction process. This paper also describesexperimental results from real images and difficulties and tricks that are found while implementing the image-based modeler.
One of the widely used applications of remote sensing studies is environmental change detection and biodiversity conservation. The study area Hustai Mountain is situated in the transition zone between the Siberian taiga forest and Central Mongolian arid steppe. Hustai National Park carries out one of several reintroduction programs of takhi (wild horse or Equus ferus przewalskii) from various zoos in the world and it represents one of a few textbook examples of successful reintroduction of an animal extinct in the wild. In this paper we describe the results of an analysis on the change of remaining forest area over the 7-year period since Hustai Mountain was designated as a protected area for reintroduction to wild horses. Today the forested area covers approximately 5% of the Hustai National Park, mostly the north-facing slopes above 1400 m altitude. Birch (Betula platyphylla) and aspen (Populus tremula) trees are predominant in the forest. We used Landsat ETM+ images from two different years and multi temporal MODIS NDVI data. Land types were determined by supervised classification methods (Maximum Likelihood algorithm) verified with ground-truthing data and the Land Change Modeler (LCM) which was developed by Clark Labs. Forested area was classified into three different land types, namely the forest land, mountain meadow and mountain steppe. The study results illustrate that the remaining birch forest has rapidly changed to fragmented forest land and to open areas. Underlying causes for such a rapid change during the 15-year period may be manifold. However, the responsible factors appear to be the drying off and outbreak of forest pest species (such as gypsy moth or Lymantria dispar) in the area.
The feature models are widely used to model the commonalities and variabilities among the products in the domain engineering phase of software product line developments. The findings and corrections of the errors or consistencies in the feature models are essential to the successful software product line engineering. The aids of the automated tools are needed to perform the validation of the feature models effectively. This paper describes the approach based on JESS rule-base system to validate the feature models and proposes the feature model validation tool using this approach. The tool of this paper validates the feature models in real-time when modeling the feature models. Then it provides the information on existence of errors and the explanations on causes of those errors, which allows the feature modeler to create the error-free feature models. This attempt to validate the feature model using the rule-based system is supposed to be the first time in this research field.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the bump crossing and loading stability of a proto-type mini-forwarder under development. The evaluation was performed by computer simulation using a multi-body dynamic analysis program, Recur- Dyn 5.21. The proto-type was modeled and its properties such as mass, mass center, and mass moment of inertia were determined using 3D CAD modeler, Solid Edge 8.0. The $\%$ errors of masses, mass center, mass moment of inertia, and vertical motion of the model were within less than $10\%$ and the model's behavior agreed relatively well with those of the proto-type when traversing over a rectangular bump. Using the validated model, bump crossing of the proto-type was simulated and the loading limit was determined. It was found that effects of the shapes of bump on the bump crossing performance was insignificant within the practical heights of bumps. Stability of bump crossing increased with loading. However, loading of longer logs than 2.7 m made the crossing unstable because the ends of logs contacted ground when traversing over the bump. The maximum loading capacity of the proto-type was estimated to be 7.8 kN of 2.7 m long logs.

Recently, much attention to a self-organizing mobile ad-hoc network is escalating along with progressive deployment of wireless networks in our everyday life. Being readily deployable, the MANET (mobile ad hoc network) can find its applications to emergency medical service, customized calling service, group-based communications, and military purposes. In this paper we investigate a time slot exchange problem found in the time slot based MAC, that is designed for IEEE 802.11b interfaces composing a MANET. The paper provides a method to maintain the quality of voice call by providing a new time slot when the channel assigned for that time slot gets noisy with interferences induced from other nodes, which belong to the same and/or other subgroups. In order to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm, a set of simulations using the OPNET modeler has been performed assuming that the IEEE 802.11b interfaces are operating under a modified MAC, which is a time slot based reservation MAC implemented in the PCF part of the superframe. In a real-time voice call service over a MANET of a size 500 ${\times}$ 500 meter squares with the number of nodes up to 100, the simulation results are collected and analyzed with respect to the packet loss rate and packet delay. The results show us that the proposed time slot exchange protocol improves the quality of voice call over that of plain DCF.
