OTP: An Overlay Transport Protocol for End-to-end Congestion and Flow Control in Overlay Networks

  • The problem of architecting a reliable transport system across an overlay network using split TCP connections as the transport primitive is mainly considered. The considered overlay network uses the application-level switch in each intermediate host. We first argue that natural designs based on store-and-forward principles that are maintained by split TCP connections of hop-by-hop approaches. These approaches in overlay networks do not concern end-to-end TCP semantics. Then, a new transport protocol-Overlay Transport Protocol (OTP)-that manages the end-to-end connection and is responsible for the congestion/flow control between source host and destination host is proposed. The proposed network model for the congestion and flow control mechanisms uses a new window size-Ownd-and a new timer in the source host and destination host. We validate our analytical findings and evaluate the performance of our OTP using a prototype implementation via simulation.

  • 최근 차세대 웹으로 시맨틱 웹 (Semantic Web)이 부각되고 있다. 기존 웹 서비스와는 달리 시맨틱 웹상에서는 정보 리소스들의 의미가 정의되어 있고, 이들간의 의미적 연결을 지원한다. 시맨틱 웹에서는 이런 의미적 연결성을 지원하기 위해 RDF를 사용한다. RDF (Resource Description Framework)는 웹 리소스들의 메타데이타를 표현하기 위한 데이터 모델로서, 개념상 RDF는 웹 서비스 메타데이타인 WSDL (Web Se.vice Desc.iption Language)과 매우 유사하다. 본 논문에서는 RDF 데이터를 WSDL과 통합하여 효율적인 검색 방법과 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 RDF 설계 방법을 제안하고 있다. 제안한 설계 방법은 기존 방법보다 나은 성능을 보여준다.

A Study on Recommendation Method Based on Web 3.0

  • Web 3.0 is the next-generation of the World Wide Web and is included two main platforms, semantic technologies and social computing environment. The basic idea of web 3.0 is to define structure data and link them in order to more effective discovery, automation, integration, and reuse across various applications. The semantic technologies represent open standards that can be applied on the top of the web. The social computing environment allows human-machine co-operations and organizing a large number of the social web communities. In the recent years, recommender systems have been combined with ontologies to further improve the recommendation by adding semantics to the context on the web 3.0. In this paper, we study previous researches about recommendation method and propose a recommendation method based on web 3.0. Our method scores documents based on context tags and social network services. Our social scoring model is computed by both a tagging score of a document and a tagging score of a document that was tagged by a user's friends.

  • UML은 소프트웨어 시스템을 그래픽 모델링하는 객체 지향 방법론이다. UML 그래픽 편집기를 개발하였는데, 소프트웨어 개발 주기 동안에 다양한 설계 객체들이 발생한다. 이는 의미 정보와 뷰에 관한 정보들로 구성되는 설계 객체는 관계형 데이터 베이스 시스템이 관리한다. 기존에 UML을 지원하는 많은 도구들이 존재하는데, 이들은 설계 객체들을 웹 상에서 공유하기 위한 명확한 양식을 가지고 있지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제점을 극복하여 UML설계 객체를 상호 교환하고, 공동으로 공유하기 위한 XML 기반의 UDXF(UML, Design object exchange Format) 교환 양식을 개발하였다. UDXF는 UML 설계 객체들을 단순하고 구조화된 양식으로 변환한다. XML 표준에 의한 모델 정보의 교환에 의하여 공동작업과 설계 객체의 재사용이 가능하다. 또한 UDXF 형식의 설계 객체를 위한 설계 객체 저장소 관리자를 제안한다.

  • 전자 문서로의 XML의 가치는 날로 증대하고 있다. XML 문서는 반구조적인 특징을 가지고 있으며, 객체지향 데이타베이스는 이를 모델링하기에 적합하다. 기존 데이타베이스 시스템에 저장하기 위하여 XML 문서의 DTD 정보를 이용하여 스키마를 생성하는 방법은 많이 연구되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 XML 문서의 의미적인 정보를 보존하는 방법으로 XML 문서를 객체지향 데이타베이스에 저장하였다. 이를 통하여 OQL, C++ 바인딩과 같은 객체지향 데이타베이스의 기능을 활용하여 XML 문서에 대한 검색 등이 가능하게 되었으며, 기존 객체지향 데이타베이스 응용 프로그램을 그대로 사용할 수 있게 하였다.

  • 기존의 객체지향 통합 모델링 방법은 전쟁게임 모델을 두 계층으로 구분하여 개발할 수 있는데, 상위계층에서는 객체의 추상화된 행위를 모델링하며 하위계층에서는 모델의 세부적인 행위를 표현하게 된다. 이 방법에서는 시뮬레이션 전문가와 군 관련 전문가가 각각의 계층에서 별도로 작업을 할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 통합 모델링을 발전시킨 파라미터 행위 모델링 방법을 이용하여 전쟁 게임 시뮬레이터를 구축할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 제안한 방법에서는 군 관련 전문가 또는 사용자가 모델링 방법에 대하여 별도의 지식이 없이도 새로운 알고리즘이나 전략을 시뮬레이터에 추가하거나 수정할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 제안한 방법의 효용성을 보이기 위해 구현된 해군 군함의 전쟁게임 시뮬레이터를 구체적으로 소개한다.

EDGE: An Enticing Deceptive-content GEnerator as Defensive Deception

  • Cyber deception defense mitigates Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) with deploying deceptive entities, such as the Honeyfile. The Honeyfile distracts attackers from valuable digital documents and attracts unauthorized access by deliberately exposing fake content. The effectiveness of distraction and trap lies in the enticement of fake content. However, existing studies on the Honeyfile focus less on this perspective. In this work, we seek to improve the enticement of fake text content through enhancing its readability, indistinguishability, and believability. Hence, an enticing deceptive-content generator, EDGE, is presented. The EDGE is constructed with three steps: extracting key concepts with a semantics-aware K-means clustering algorithm, searching for candidate deceptive concepts within the Word2Vec model, and generating deceptive text content under the Integrated Readability Index (IR). Furthermore, the readability and believability performance analyses are undertaken. The experimental results show that EDGE generates indistinguishable deceptive text content without decreasing readability. In all, EDGE proves effective to generate enticing deceptive text content as deception defense against APTs.

환경·생태 지식베이스의 국제적 조화를 위한 한국형 표준 식물 온톨로지 개발 (Development of Standardized Korean Plant Ontology for International Harmonization of Environmental and Ecological Knowledge Bases)

  • Background: To describe domain knowledge consistently and precisely, the establishment of a controlled vocabulary, a so-called ontology, is essential. Internationally, the plant ontology (PO) in the ecology field has been developed for the anatomy and developmental stages of plants in English, Spanish, and Japanese, but there is no Korean version of the PO due to a lack of knowledge on standardization for Korean plants. Objectives: We aimed to establish a Korean plant ontology with core PO architectures. Methods: The latest ontology web language (OWL)-formatted raw version of the PO was collected from the PO consortium site. A formal workflow process and OWL file-handing tools for efficient Korean content development were conducted and executed. Results: The macro- and micro-perspective frameworks of the PO were presented by analyzing the upper model and the internal OWL-leveled physical structure, respectively. We developed and validated Korean knowledge content for a total of 1,957 classes included in the PO and transplanted them into an ontology modeling system. Conclusions: A Korean plant ontology was established for international harmonization through improved compatibility and data exchangeability with multilingual environmental and ecological knowledge bases.

Using Syntax and Shallow Semantic Analysis for Vietnamese Question Generation

  • This paper presents a method of using syntax and shallow semantic analysis for Vietnamese question generation (QG). Specifically, our proposed technique concentrates on investigating both the syntactic and shallow semantic structure of each sentence. The main goal of our method is to generate questions from a single sentence. These generated questions are known as factoid questions which require short, fact-based answers. In general, syntax-based analysis is one of the most popular approaches within the QG field, but it requires linguistic expert knowledge as well as a deep understanding of syntax rules in the Vietnamese language. It is thus considered a high-cost and inefficient solution due to the requirement of significant human effort to achieve qualified syntax rules. To deal with this problem, we collected the syntax rules in Vietnamese from a Vietnamese language textbook. Moreover, we also used different natural language processing (NLP) techniques to analyze Vietnamese shallow syntax and semantics for the QG task. These techniques include: sentence segmentation, word segmentation, part of speech, chunking, dependency parsing, and named entity recognition. We used human evaluation to assess the credibility of our model, which means we manually generated questions from the corpus, and then compared them with the generated questions. The empirical evidence demonstrates that our proposed technique has significant performance, in which the generated questions are very similar to those which are created by humans.

  • Aesthetics of use for modern people can be regarded as being weighted toward universal and rational function since it has focused on an 'automation and efficiency' and 'smartness' in terms of technological and human engineering position. Thus, aesthetics of use as an individual agent has remained in minimal level. This study attempts to seek conceptual model of design regarding the behavior of users from the systematization of critical theories about the usability. To do that, 'HERTZAIN TALES' written by Anthony Dune and the concept and system of Droog Design have been used as a core standard. In line with the various experiments by artist groups such as Fluxus, Memphis group and the work of product semantics, and inherent characteristics of Droog design, which has surfaced from the 1990s, concepts that has mentioned in the Hertzain tales have been organized into main texts. By overcoming cognitive bias inherent in the material culture and by overcoming an existing usability based on immateriality and dialectic solution, the autonomy of critical design and instrumentality of Droog design have been systemized.
