  • This paper proposes a guideline of choosing the optimum stabilizer input considering the gain margin of power system stabilizer between the optimum stabilizer gain and the allowable maximum stabilizer gain in accordance with the five inputs, such as generator shaft speed, bus frequency, electrical power, accelerating power and bus terminal voltage. The local mode damping and exciter mode damping are considered with increasing the stabilizer gain to determine each gain margin of the inputs.

  • This paper presents an output common mode current compensation method to achieve both constant Gm and constant gain. A conventional rail-to-rail CMOS op-amp with constant Gm was designed by using complementary differential input stage and current compensation skills. But it doesn't operate constant gain, because of output resistance variation. With $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the simulation results show that the differential gain variation can achieve less than 1.3dB. And a 60dB gain, a 13.5MHz unity gain-frequency, and 1mW power consumption, when operating at 1.8V and 10pF load.

Polarization Mode Coupling Constants in Solid-State Lasers

  • We have found that the polarization mode coupling between the orthogonally linearly polarized dual mode laser results from the anisotropy of dipole moments. Rate equation analysis demonstrated that high anisotropy in dipole moment components can give rise to law intrinsic mode coupling constants while isotropic dipole moment components give high intrinsic mode coupling constant. The populations at active ion sites are shown to self-organize the populations such that laser mode gain is constant adove threshold while the gain contributions from the each site adjust themselves with pump power.

WCDMA 베이스밴드단 전류모드 아날로그 필터 설계 (Design of a Current-Mode Analog Filter for WCDMA Baseband Block)

  • In this paper, a current-mode integrator for low-voltage, low-power analog integrated circuits is presented. Using the proposed current-mode integrator, the baseband analog filter is designed for WCDMA wireless communication. To verify the proposed current-mode integrator circuit, Hspice simulation using 1.8V TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS parameter is performed and achieved 44.9dB gain, 15.7MHz unity gain frequency. The described 3rd-order current-mode baseband analog filter is composed of the proposed current-mode integrator, and SFG(Signal Flow Graph) method is used to realize the baseband filter. The simulated results show 2.12MHz cutoff frequency which is suitable for WCDMA baseband block.

무반사 코팅된 DFB 레이저 다이오드에서 발진 모드와 격자 위상 (Oscillation Mode and Grating Phase in DFB Laser Diode with an Anti-reflection Coated Mirror)

  • 본 연구에서는 1.55um의 파장을 갖는 DFB 레이저 다이오드에서 이득 격자와 굴절률 격자가 동시에 존재할 때, 오른쪽 거울면에 무반사 코팅을 하여 ρr=0 이 되도록 하였다. δL<0인 경우일 때, 발진 모드에 대하여, 발진 주파수와 발진 이득의 특성을 해석했다. 좌측 거울면 상에서 격자의 위상이 π에서부터 π/2씩 연속적으로 감소할 때마다, 각 발진 모드의 (αL, δL) 그래프 선들이 좌측으로 δL 값이 약 0.6 정도씩 낮아지고 있음을 볼 수 있다. 문턱이득이 가장 낮은 발진 모드의 경우는 κL=10인 경우이고, 이때 모드 선별성은 다른 κL 값의 경우와 비교할 때 상대적으로 낮다. 모드 선별성이 우수한 경우는 κL=0.1 에서부터 κL=6 정도까지이고, 모드 선별성이 우수할수록 주파수 안정성이 우수하다. 두 개의 벽개면을 갖는 경우와 비교하면, 무반사 코팅을 한 DFB 레이저 다이오드는, 발진 모드의 문턱 이득은 약 2배 정도로 높아지지만 모드 선별성 측면은 2배 정도 더 우수해 진다.

  • Using a sliding mode controller and observer techniques, this paper presents a robust current controller for a DC motor in the presence of parametric uncertainties. One of the most important issues in the practical application of sliding mode schemes is the chattering phenomenon caused by switching actions. This paper presents a novel sliding mode controller that incorporates an integral control with a sliding mode disturbance observer to attenuate the chattering by reducing the controller/observer switching gains. The proposed sliding mode disturbance observer is designed to estimate a relatively slow varying signal in the equivalent lumped disturbance owing to system uncertainties. Combining the estimated uncertainty with the sliding mode control input, the proposed controller can achieve the control objective by using the relatively low gain of the controller. The proposed disturbance observer does not include the switching control input of the baseline sliding mode controller to reduce the observer switching gain. In the proposed approach, the integral sliding mode control is used to improve the steady state control performance. Comparative computer simulations are carried out to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method. Through the simulation results, the proposed controller realizes the robust performance with reduced current ripples.

이동위성 통신용 광대역 2단 전력제어 HPA의 구현 및 성능평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fabrication and Performance Evaluation of Wideband 2-Mode HPA for the Satellite Mobile Communications System)

  • 본 논문에서는 INMARSAT-M형 송신기에 사용되는 L-BAND(1626.5-1646.5 MHz)용 2단 가변이득 전력 증폭기를 연구 개발하였다. 2단 가변이득 전력증폭기는 구동증폭단과 전력증폭단에 의해 고출력 모드일 때 +42 dBm, 저출력 모드일 때는 +36 dBm의 전력으로 증폭되며, 각각에 대해 상한 +1 dBm과 하한 -2 dBm의 오차를 허용한다. 제작의 간편성 때문에 전체 2단 가변이득 전력증폭기를 크게 구동증폭단과 전력증폭단 두 부분으로 나누어 구현하였으며, 전력증폭부를 구동하기 위한 구동단은 HP사의 MGA-64135와 Motorola사의 MRF-6401을 사용하였으며, 전력증폭단은 ERICSSON사의 PTE-10114와 PTF-10021을 사용하여 RF부, 온도보상회로 및 출력 조절회로를 함께 집적화 하였다. 이득조절은 구동증폭단의 MGA-64135의 바이어스 전압을 조절하는 방법을 제시하였으며, 실험 결과와 잘 일치하였다. 제작된 2단 가변이득 전력증폭기는 20 MHz대역폭 내에서 소신호 이득이 42 dB와 36 dB 이상, 입ㆍ출력 정재파비는 1.5:1 이하, 5 dBm의 $P_{1dB}$. $P_{ldB}$출력레벨에서 3 dB Back off 시켰을 때 32.5 dBc의 I $M_3$를 얻었다. 1636.5 MHz 주파수에 대해 출력전력은 43 dBm과 37 dBm으로서 설계시 목표로 했던 최대 출력전력 20 Watt를 얻었다.다.다.

  • Variable Structure Controller(VSC) is usually known to have robustness to bounded exogenous disturbances. The robustness is attributed to the discontinuous term in the control input. However, this discontinuous term also causes an undesirable effect called chattering. To alleviate chattering, a hybrid controller consisting of VSC and Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) is proposed, which belongs to the category of Fuzzy Sliding Mode Controller(FSMC). The role of FLC in FSMC is to replace a fixed gain of a discontinuous term with a time-varying one based on a specified rule base. The characteristics of proposed controller are shown to be similar to those of VSC with a saturation function instead of sign function. The only remarkable difference is the nonlinearity whose form can be adjusted by free parameters, normalize gain, denormalize gain, and membership functions. Applied to AC servo motor, the proposed controller is compared with VSC in a regulation problem as well as a speed tracking problem. The simulation results show a substantial chatter reduction.

Improvement on Sensorless Vector Control Performance of PMSM with Sliding Mode Observer

  • This paper proposes improvement on sensorless vector control performance of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with sliding mode observer. An adaptive observer gain and second order cascade low-pass filter (LPF) were used to improve the estimation accuracy of the rotor position and speed. The adaptive observer gain was applied to suppress the chattering intensity and obtained by using the Lyapunov's stability criterion. The second order cascade LPF was designed for the system to escalate the filtering performance of the back-emf estimation. Furthermore, genetic algorithm was used to optimize the system PI controller's performance. Simulation results showed the effectiveness of the suggested improvement strategy. Moreover, the strategy was useful for the sensorless vector control of PMSM to operate on the low-speed area.

볼스크류로 구동되는 유정압테이블의 미소이송특성 향상 (Improvement of Microstep Characteristics in Hydrostatic Table with Ballscrew)

  • Microstep characteristics largely depends on the variation of friction force induced by the geometric accuracy of ballscrew, guide rail and the control characteristics of servo unit. In this paper, for improving the microstep characteristics of hydrostatic table with ballscrew, microstep resolution according to the control mode of servo amplifier and response characteristic by the variation of integral gain are tested and compared. Relationship between micro motion behavior of hydrostatic table and the output torque is also tested for acquiring the effective variables on control characteristics. From the results. it is confirmed that the torque control mode has a advantage in microstep resolution, and more stable than velocity control mode in low feed rate, and by the increase of integral gain in the elastic motion realm, response characteristics can be improved.
