  • In this paper, we present a usable method of driving path in automatic guidance vehicle(AGV). The AGV is precisely driving to follow reference route. The Phileas in Netherland and Bi-modal tram in Korea have one wheel for the each side because of all wheels steering. For this reason, the loading area of wheels is very small. It is a disadvantage for asphalt load. The precise route tracking of vehicle can distort the flexible asphalt load. In this paper, we propose a driving method for alleviation of distortion on asphalt load.

객체 추적을 위한 영상 내의 객체 특징점 추출 알고리즘 구현 (Implementation of Object Feature Extraction within Image for Object Tracking)

  • This paper proposes a mobile image search system which uses a sensor information of smart phone, and enables running in a variety of environments, which is implemented on Android platform. The implemented system deals with a new image descriptor using combination of the visual feature (CEDD) with EXIF attributes in the target of JPEG image, and image matching scheme, which is optimized to the mobile platform. Experimental result shows that the proposed method exhibited a significant improved searching results of around 80% in precision in the large image database. Considering the performance such as processing time and precision, we think that the proposed method can be used in other application field.

  • A method of finding the optimal actuator location for efficient control of the modes of interest is presented. The proposed approach relies on certain quantitive measure of degree of controllability based on the controllability grammian. This measure proves to be useful for regulating problem of the undamped system and can be extended to cover the tracking problem of the viscous damped system. The example of the uniform cantilever beam is given to verify the effectiveness of the method.

  • Vibration problems in the Hard Disk Drive which is magnetic recording device have been raised gradually while HDD is required high density and low access time. As a typical thing, lateral bending or sway mode of supension causes tracking error, and therefore it is necessary to identify the accurate vibration characteristics of that mode. In this study, as the solution of vibration problem, decoupling sway mode and vicinity mode is dealt with. Shifting sway mode to high frequency region is studied.

Seismic and vibration tests for assessing the effectiveness of GFRP for retrofitting masonry structures

  • Full-scale shake table seismic experiments and low-amplitude vibration tests on a masonry building are carried out to assess its seismic performance as well as study the effectiveness of a new multifunctional textile material for retrofitting masonry structures against earthquakes. The un-reinforced and the retrofitted with glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) strips masonry building was subjected to a series of earthquake excitations of increasing magnitude in order to progressively induce various small, moderate and severe levels of damage to the masonry walls. The performance of the original and retrofitted building states is evaluated. Changes in the dynamic characteristics (lowest four modal frequencies and damping ratios) of the building are used to assess and quantify the damage states of the masonry walls. For this, the dynamic modal characteristics of the structure states after each earthquake event were estimated by performing low-amplitude impulse hammer and sine-sweep forced vibration tests. Comparisons between the modal results calculated using traditional accelerometers and those using Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors embedded in the reinforcing textile were carried on to investigate the reliability and accuracy of FBG sensors in tracking the dynamic behaviour of the building. The retrofitting actions restored the stiffness characteristics of the reinforced masonry structure to the levels of the original undamaged un-reinforced structure. The results show that despite a similar dynamic behavior identified, corresponding to reduction of the modal frequencies, the un-reinforced masonry building was severely damaged, while the reinforced masonry building was able to withstand, without visual damage, the induced strong seismic excitations. The applied GFRP reinforcement architecture for one storey buildings was experimentally proven reliable for the most severe earthquake accelerations. It was easily placed in a short time and it is a cost effective solution (covering only 20% of the external wall surfaces) when compared to the cost for full wall coverage by GFRPs.

Application of recursive SSA as data pre-processing filter for stochastic subspace identification

  • The objective of this paper is to develop on-line system parameter estimation and damage detection technique from the response measurements through using the Recursive Covariance-Driven Stochastic Subspace identification (RSSI-COV) approach. To reduce the effect of noise on the results of identification, discussion on the pre-processing of data using recursive singular spectrum analysis (rSSA) is presented to remove the noise contaminant measurements so as to enhance the stability of data analysis. Through the application of rSSA-SSI-COV to the vibration measurement of bridge during scouring experiment, the ability of the proposed algorithm was proved to be robust to the noise perturbations and offers a very good online tracking capability. The accuracy and robustness offered by rSSA-SSI-COV provides a key to obtain the evidence of imminent bridge settlement and a very stable modal frequency tracking which makes it possible for early warning. The peak values of the identified $1^{st}$ mode shape slope ratio has shown to be a good indicator for damage location, meanwhile, the drastic movements of the peak of $2^{nd}$ mode slope ratio could be used as another feature to indicate imminent pier settlement.

  • Servo performance of a disk drive is greatly affected by the mechanical resonance frequencies of the head gimbal assembly(HGA). It is important (actor to allow broader bandwidth for servo system in improving overall drive performance. In this paper, an optimal design for ODD suspension is attempted to increase resonance frequencies. It was decided that the first resonant frequency in tracking direction was higher than 5㎑.   • Recently, almost all hard disk drives employ the rotary actuator system. The performance of an HDD depends on the accuracy and speed of tracking motion. We study the dynamics of head-suspension assembly during track seek. We develop the numerical analysis program to study the dynamic characteristics of HDD suspension system considering the air bearing effects. The track seek simulation by using the developed program helps to estimate the effect of the suspension vibration on the air bearing dynamics. We calculate the behaviour of the air bearing for the given track seek profile and calculate the positioning error during track seek process due to the lateral deflection of the suspension.

  • A moving-magnet type pickup actuator is proposed, which has the back-yoke to improve th sensitivity. Through the magnetic path analysis, we can find that the flux density is increased i the air gap by the pole assignment of magnet and the adding of back-yoke can reduce the flu leakage and induce 40% up of flux density. Experimental results show that the sensitivity i improved in the tracking direction, however, the improvement doesn't occur in the focusing direction. Finally, the compensation performance is tested in HD-DVD system. And it is verifie that the actuator can compensate the disc tilt of ${\pm}$0.7$^{\circ}$.
