  • A Lagrangian approach based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to simulate large and/or sharp deformations and fragmentations of interfaces, including free surfaces, through tracing each particle with physical quantities. According to the concept of the particle-based CFD method, it is possible to apply it to both fluid particles and solid particles such as sand, gravel, and rock. However, the presence of more than two different phases in the same domain can make it complicated to calculate the interaction between different phases. In order to solve multiphase problems, particle interaction models for multiphase problems, including surface tension, buoyancy-correction, and interface boundary condition models, were newly adopted into the moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method. The newly developed MPS method was used to simulate a typical validation problem involving dam breaking. Because the soil and other particles, excluding the water, may have different viscosities, various viscosity coefficients were applied in the simulations for validation. The newly developed and validated MPS method was used to simulate the mobile beds induced by broken dam flows. The effects of the viscosity on soil particles were also investigated.

  • A convenient liquid chromatographic enantiomer separation of several ${\alpha}$-amino acid esters as benzophenone Schiff base derivatives on covalently immobilized chiral stationary phases (CSPs) derived from polysaccharide derivatives was developed. The benzophenone imine derivatives of ${\alpha}$-amino acid esters were readily prepared by stirring benzophenone imine and the ${\alpha}$-amino acid ester hydrochloride salts in 2-propanol. The chromatographic conditions used on all CSPs were 0.5% or 5% 2-propanol/hexane (V/V) as the mobile phases at 1 mL/min of flow rate and UV 254 nm detection. The performance of Chiralpak IC among all CSPs was superior to that of the other CSPs for resolution of benzophenone imine derivatives of ${\alpha}$-amino acid esters. It is expected that the developed analytical method will be useful for enantiomer resolution of other ${\alpha}$-amino acid esters as benzophenone Schiff base derivatives.

  • It is required for correct signal detection to accurately maintain the synchronization of frequency and timing in a TDMA system. In this paper, we consider nondecision-aided estimation of frequency offset for the transmission of QPSK signal in a TDMA-based satellite system. The proposed scheme estimates the phases of two parts in the burst and then estimates the frequency offset based on the difference between the two estimated phases. Thus, it can provides performance comparable to that of conventional schemes, while significantly reducing the implementation complexity, The performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed and verified by computer simulation, when applied to a GSM based geostationary earth orbit mobile radio(GMR) system.

  • Recently, OMIPv6 series, based on public-key cryptography, have been proposed to improve RR protocol. This series no typically composed of the initial and subsequent phases. In the initial phase, the mobile node and its corresponding node build a strong long-term key, by which successive binding updates are optimized in the subsequent phase. In this paper, we compare and analyze the subsequent phases of OMIPv6 series in terms of performance, security and applicability, then presenting an improvement on the subsequent phase. Also, we show that the proposed improvement is reasonable considering performance, security and applicability overall.

  • The effect of strain aging on tensile behavior and properties of API X60, X70, and X80 pipeline steels was investigated in this study. The API X60, X70, and X80 pipeline steels were fabricated by varying alloying elements and thermomechanical processing conditions. Although all the steels exhibited complex microstructure consisting of polygonal ferrite (PF), acicular ferrite, granular bainite (GB), bainitic ferrite (BF), and secondary phases, they had different fractions of microstructures depending on the alloying elements and thermomechanical processing conditions. The tensile test results revealed that yielding behavior steadily changed from continuous-type to discontinuous-type as aging temperature increases after 1% pre-strain. After pre-strain and thermal aging treatment in all the steels, the yield and tensile strengths, and yield ratio were increased, while the uniform elongation and work hardening exponent were decreased. In the case of the X80 steel, particularly, the decrease in uniform elongation was relatively small due to many mobile dislocations in PF, and the increase in yield ratio was the lowest because a large amount of harder microstructures such as GB, BF, and coarse secondary phases effectively enhanced work hardening.

  • The systematic investigation of the retention behaviors of 18 monosubstituted benzenes in reversed-phase liquid chromatography(RPLC) was studied in order to predict the separation possibility of their mixtures and study the contribution of substituent group to the retentions of solutes. The columns and mobile phases employed in this study were $\mu$ -Bondapak $C_{18}$, $\mu$-Bondapak phenyl columns and methanol/water, acetonitrile/water, and THF/water, respectively. The polar substituents such as phenol, aniline, acetophenone and benzonitrile have smaller capacity factor(k') values than benzene, while nonpolar ones such as alkylbenzenes and halobenzenes show larger k' value. The capacity factors of all solutes increased on both C18 bonded and phenyl bonded phases as the organic solvent content of three organic solvent-water mixtures decreased. The absolute differences in capacity factor(${\Delta}k$') between substituent and benzene were graphically shown for the prediction of the separation of the mixture and interpretation of the elution behavior of substituent. In addition, the selectivity of solvent system for the separation of the mixture was investigated in both two columns and three mobile phases.

  • We are sure that RFID system should be a widely used automatic identification system because of its various advantages and applications. However, many people know that invasions of privacy in RFID system is still critical problem that makes it difficult to be used. Many works for solving this problem have focused on light-weight cryptographic functioning in the RFID tag. An agent scheme is another approach that an agent device controls communications between the tag and the reader for protecting privacy. Generally an agent device has strong security modules and enough capability to process high-level cryptographic protocols and can guarantees consumer privacy. In this paper, we present an enhanced mobile agent for RFID privacy protection. In enhanced MARP, we modified some phases of the original MARP to reduce the probability of successful eavesdropping and to reduce the number of tag's protocol participation. And back-end server can authenticate mobile agents more easily using public key cryptography in this scheme. It guarantees not only privacy protection but also preventing forgery.

  • The aim of this study was to develop a mobile application 'Beat Processing Device (BPD)' to record and quantify the data for the performance accuracy of rhythm production. BPD has been developed in three phases. First, we reviewed studies that used rhythm as main intervention strategy to improve cognitive functioning of older adults, and derived four basic rhythm idioms. Second, we developed an iOS-based mobile application, optimized the device, the instrument tone, and the measurement variables through preliminary test. Lastly, we tested the mobile application by comparing the performance data obtained from MIDI and BPD from 60 older adults. The device was shown to be reliable and consistent with other mode of measurement and analysis. Conclusively, BPD can be a useful tool for assessing rhythm production ability in the course of cognitive skills training.

  • To prove the integrity of digital evidence on the investigation procedure, the data which is using the MD 5(Message Digest 5) hash-function algorithm has to be discarded, if the integrity was damaged on the investigation. Even though a proof restoration of the deleted area is essential for securing the proof regarding a main phase of a case, it was difficult to secure the decisive evidence because of the damaged evidence data due to the difference between the overall hash value and the first value. From this viewpoint, this paper proposes the novel model for the mobile forensic procedure, named as "E-Finder(Evidence Finder)", to ,solve the existing problem. The E-Finder has 5 main phases and 15 procedures. We compared E-Finder with NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology) and Tata Elxsi Security Group. This paper thus achieved the development and standardization of the investigation methodology for the mobile forensics.

  • When the mobile device moves from the coverage of one access point to the radio coverage of another access point it needs to maintain its connection with the current access point before it successfully discovers the new access point, this process is known as handoff. During handoff the acceptable delay a voice over IP application can bear is of 50ms whereas the delay on medium access control layer is high enough that goes up to 350-500ms. This research provides a suitable methodology on medium access control layer of the IEEE 802.11 network. The medium access control layer comprises of three phases, namely discovery, reauthentication and re-association. The discovery phase on medium access control layer takes up to 90% of the total handoff latency. The objective is to effectively reduce the delay for discovery phase to ensure a seamless handoff. The research proposes a scheme that reduces the handoff latency effectively by scanning channels prior to the actual handoff process starts and scans only the neighboring access points. Further, the proposed scheme enables the mobile device to scan first the channel on which it is currently operating so that the mobile device has to perform minimum number of channel switches. The results show that the mobile device finds out the new potential access point prior to the handoff execution hence the delay during discovery of a new access point is minimized effectively.
