This study was conducted to investigate the effects of mixed bone and brisket meat on the quality characteristics and nutritional components of shank bone extract and rib extract from Hanwoo. The pH values were influenced by the raw bones, mixed bone, brisket meat and their interactions (p<0.05). The salinity, sugar content, turbidity, and essential amino acid values increased significantly with addition of mixed bone and brisket meat. All attributes of sensory evaluation score were the highest in T6 (Rib 500 g + Mixed bone 500 g + Brisket meat 400 g) (p<0.05). The mixed bone significantly increased the saturated fatty acids of shank bone extract (p<0.001). Thus, the addition of mixed bone and brisket meat had a positive effect on the quality and nutritional components in shank and rib extracts of Hanwoo cattle.
The roughness effects are very important due to the presence of interacting asperities in mixed lubrication regime. An average Reynolds equation using flow factors is useful to determine the effects of surface roughness on mixed lubrication. In this study, the effect of kurtosis on flow factors is investigated using random rough surfaces generated numerically, The results show that flow factors are very sensitive to h/$\sigma$ according to the value of kurtosis in the partial lubrication regime.
In this study, a four-node quadrilateral partial mixed plate element with low degrees of freedom (dofs) is developed for static and free vibration analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) plates rested on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundations. The formulation of the presented finite element model is based on a parametrized mixed variational principle which is developed recently by the first author. The presented finite element model considers the effects of shear deformations and normal flexibility of the FGM plates without using any shear correction factor. It also fulfills the boundary conditions of the transverse shear and normal stresses on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate. Beside these capabilities, the number of unknown field variables of the plate is only six. The presented partial mixed finite element model has been validated through comparison with the results of the three-dimensional (3D) theory of elasticity and the results obtained from the classical and high-order plate theories available in the open literature.
This study was carried out to investigate the optimal mixed extract with Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen in order to strengthen anti-diabetic effects on the hyperglycemia induced by streptozotocin in mice. The original Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen filtered and refined. The effects of Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen and Mixed extracts(Bamboo Juice) with Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen were administered to mice for 4weeks and its anti-diabetic effect examined. Mice used in this experiment were divided into three groups and saline(control), Bamboo Juice mixed with refined Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen(BJ+BCL.D) and distrilled water mixed with refined Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen(DW+BCL.D) were given orally for 28days respectively. And then, experemental groups were observed in terms of blood sugar, creatinine, BUN and GPT. The amount of glucose was significantly decreased in the Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen and Mixed extracts(Bamboo Juice) with Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen-treated groups compared with the control group(P<0.01). The amount of creatinine, BUN and GPT did not show any differences among Control, BJ+BCL.D and DW+BCL.D groups. In conclusion. it was found that Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen and Mixed extracts(Bamboo Juice) with Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen were nontoxic to kidney and liver and also effective on murine hyperglycemia induced with STZ. Mixed extracts(Bamboo Juice) were more effective for decreasing blood glucose than Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen D. BJ+BCL.D can be used as optimal mix material with Bambusae Caulis in Liquamen D for control Diabetes.

A diagnostic tool for testing homogeneity for random effects is proposed in unbalanced linear mixed model based on score statistic. The finite sample behavior of the test statistic is examined using Monte Carlo experiments examine the chi-square approximation of the test statistic under the null hypothesis.
The generalized linear mixed model(GLMM) is widely used in fitting categorical responses of clustered data. In the numerical approximation of likelihood function the normality is assumed for the random effects distribution; subsequently, the commercial statistical packages also routinely fit GLMM under this normality assumption. We may also encounter departures from the distributional assumption on the response variable. It would be interesting to investigate the impact on the estimates of parameters under misspecification of distributions; however, there has been limited researche on these topics. We study the sensitivity or robustness of the maximum likelihood estimators(MLEs) of GLMM for counts data when the true underlying distribution is normal, gamma, exponential, and a mixture of two normal distributions. We also consider the effects on the MLEs when we fit Poisson-normal GLMM whereas the outcomes are generated from the negative binomial distribution with overdispersion. Through a small scale Monte Carlo study we check the empirical coverage probabilities of parameters and biases of MLEs of GLMM.

Quantitative high throughput screening (qHTS) assays are used to assess toxicity for many chemicals in a short period by collectively analyzing them at several concentrations. Data are routinely analyzed using nonlinear regression models; however, we propose a new method to analyze qHTS data using a nonlinear mixed effects model. qHTS data are generated by repeating the same experiment several times for each chemical; therefor, they can be viewed as if they are repeated measures data and hence analyzed using a nonlinear mixed effects model which accounts for both intra- and inter-individual variabilities. Furthermore, we apply a one-step approach incorporating robust estimation methods to estimate fixed effect parameters and the variance-covariance structure since outliers or influential observations are not uncommon in qHTS data. The toxicity of chemicals from a qHTS assay is classified based on the significance of a parameter related to the efficacy of the chemicals using the proposed method. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method in terms of power and false discovery rate using simulation studies comparing with one existing method. The proposed method is illustrated using a dataset obtained from the National Toxicology Program.
Objective : Polycan, exopolymers purified from Aureobasidium pullulans SM-2001 and calcium gluconate have been showed favorable inhibitory effects on the periodontitis and related alveolar bone losses through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, respectively. In the present study, we intended to observe the possible synergic effects of mixed formula consisted of Polycan and calcium gluconate on ligation-induced experimental periodontitis and related alveolar bone losses in rats, and to select the fittest compositions for further developing as effective agents to ameliorate periodontal diseases. Method : Experiments were conducted as two separated two tests - first is synergic effects of Polycan and calcium gluconate 1:1, 1:9 and 9:1 mixtures, and second is 1:99, 2:98, 4:96, 8:92 and 1:9 mixtures. Experimental periodontal diseases were induced by ligature placed around the cervix of upper left incisior teeth of rats. One day after ligation placements, 200mg/kg of each single or mixed formulas of Polycan or/and calcium gluconate were orally administered for 10 days. The changes on the alveolar bone loss index and maxillary bone mineral density (BMD) were observed for detecting alveolar bone losses, and for anti-inflammatory effects, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activities and proinflammatory cytokine (tumor necrosis factor; TNF-${\alpha}$) contents were also evaluated in gingival tissues around ligature placed incisior teeth. The results of mixtures were compared with those of singe Polycan and calcium gluconate treated rat. Results : Each single or mixed formulas of Polycan or/and calcium gluconate favorably and significantly inhibited the inflammatory changes. The inhibitory effects of mixed formula consisted of Polycan and calcium gluconate 1:9 showed against periodontitis and related alveolar bone losses as compared with those of each Polycan and calcium gluconate single formula (p<0.05). In second experiment, Polycan and calcium gluconate 2:98, 4:96, 8:92 and 1:9 mixed formulas also showed significant increased anti-inflammatory and inhibitory effects against alveolar bone losses as compared with those of each single formula. Among them, Polycan and calcium gluconate 2:98 showed the highest efficacy against to ligation-induced experimental periodontitis and related alveolar bone losses. Conclusion : The results obtained in this study suggest that appropriated mixtures of Polycan and calcium gluconate showed synergic inhibitory effects against ligation-induced experimental periodontitis and related alveolar bone losses in rats. Moreover, Polycan and calcium gluconate 2:98 showed the highest efficacies in this experiment, suggesting the fittest composition for further developing as effective agents to ameliorate periodontal diseases.

Purpose: To assess the role of two adjuvant chemotherapy regimens, anthracycline-based and CMF on disease free survival and overall survival breast cancer patients by meta-analysis approach in Eastern Mediterranean and Asian countries to determine which is more effective and evaluate the appropriateness and efficiency of two different proposed statistical models. Materials and Methods: Survival curves were digitized and the survival proportions and times were extracted and modeled to appropriate covariates by two multivariate mixed effects models. Studies which reported disease free survival and overall survival curves for anthracycline-based or CMF as adjuvant chemotherapy that were published in English in the Eastern Mediterranean region and Asia were included in this systematic review. The two transformations of survival probabilities (Ln (-Ln(S)) and Ln(S/ (1-S))) as dependent variables were modeled by a multivariate mixed model to same covariates in order to have precise estimations with high power and appropriate interpretation of covariate effects. The analysis was carried out with SAS Proc MIXED and STATA software. Results: A total of 32 studies from the published literature were analysed, covering 4,092 patients who received anthracycline-based and 2,501 treated with CMF for the disease free survival and in order to analyze the overall survival, 13 studies reported the overall survival curves in which 2,050 cases were treated with anthracycline-based and 1,282 with CMF regimens. Conclusions: The findings illustrated that the model with dependent variable Ln (-Ln(S)) had more precise estimations of the covariate effects and showed significant difference between the effects of two adjuvant chemotherapy regimens. Anthracycline-based treatment gave better disease free survival and overall survival. As an IPD meta-analysis in the Italy the results of Angelo et al in 2011 also confirmed that anthracycline-based regimens were more effective for survival of breast cancer patients. The findings of Zare et al 2012 on disease free survival curves in Asia also provided similar evidence.
Effects of Doenjang and Chunggukjang on rheological properties of bread flour were investigated based on falling number, RVA, farinogram, colorimeter, rheofermentometer and SEM. The falling number of bread flour was highest among all samples, and mixed flours containing Chunggukjang showed lower falling number than Doenjang. RVA showed that initial pasting temperatures of the control mixed flour of Doenjang and Chunggukjang increased sequentially, whereas peak viscosities were reversed and final viscosities showed similar results. In the farinogram, consistencies and water absorptions decreased with increasing quantity of Doenjang and Chunggukjang. Developments, stabilities, time to breakdowns and farinogram quality numbers of the mixed flour containing Doenjang were higher than those of Chunggukjang and greater addition decreased values. In the rheofermentometer test, height of maximum dough development of mixed flours containing Chunggukjang were lower than that of flours containing Doenjang. Total volumes, retention volumes and retention coefficients of mixed flours containing Doenjang and Chunggukjang were lower compared to the control. For features, SEM showed that mixed flour containing Chunggukjang showed a faded boundary compared to flour containing Doenjang. All of results showed that the various activities of Chunggukjang were more potent than those of Doenjang.
