연탄재를 시멘트로서 경화(硬化)시켰을 때의 강도(强度)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Studies on the Strength of Briquette Ash Hardened by Cement)

  • 본연구(本硏究)는 연탄재를 시멘트로 경화(硬化)시켰을때의 강도(强度)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)를 위하여 시멘트:연탄재, [시멘트(90%)+소석회(消石灰)(10%)]:연탄재, [시멘트(80%)+프라이애쉬(20%)]:연탄재, 시멘트:표준사(標準砂)의 4종(種)을 각각(各各) 배합비(配合比) 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, 1:7, 1:9의 6종(種)으로 분류(分類)하고 압축(壓縮), 인장(引張), 휨강도시험(强度試驗)을 재령(材令) 7일(日) 및 28일(日)로 구분(區分)하여 시험(試驗)하였다. 본시험(本試驗) 이외(以外)에 경제성(經濟性)의 검토(檢討), 내구성시험(耐久性試驗)등 구명(究明)하여야 할 문제(問題)가 남겨져 있으나 본시험(本試驗)에서 얻은 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 압축강도(壓縮强度)는 KS 규격치(規格値)에 대하여 1:2의 재령(材令) 7일(日)에서 시멘트:연탄재는 84%, (시멘트+소석회(消石灰)):연탄재는 90%, (시멘트+프라이애쉬):연탄재는 75%의 강도(强度)를 나타냈고 재령(材令) 28일(日)에서 시멘트:연탄재는 84.9%, (시멘트+소석회(消石灰)):연탄재는 73.5%, (시멘트+프라이애쉬):연탄재는 69.8%의 강도(强度)가 나타났다. 2. 압축강도(壓縮强度)는 표준사(標準砂)를 사용(使用)한 모르터의 강도(强度)를 100%로 했을때 1:2의 재령(材令) 7일(日)에서 시멘트:연탄재는 69.3%, (시멘트+소석회(消石灰)):연탄재는 75.1%, (시멘트+프라이애쉬):연탄재는 41.3%의 강도(强度)가 나타났으며 재령(材令) 28일(日)에서는 전자(前者)와 동일순(同一順)으로 56.4%, 49%, 46.5%의 강도(强度)를 나타냈다. 3. 인장강도(引張强度)는 표준사(標準砂)를 사용(使用)한 모르터의 인장강도(引張强度)를 100%로 했을때 1:2의 재령(材令) 7일(日)에서 시멘트:연탄재는 64.4%, (시멘트+소석회(消石灰)):연탄재는 47.1%, (시멘트+프라이애쉬):연탄재는 35.4%의 강도(强度)를 나타냈으며 재령(材令) 28일(日)에서는 전자(前者)와 동일순(同一順)으로 69.6%, 64.8%, 57.3%의 강도(强度)를 나타냈다. 4. 휨강도(强度)는 표준사(標準砂)를 사용(使用)한 모르터의 강도(强度)를 100%로 했을때 1:2의 재령(材令) 7일(日)에서 시멘트:연탄재는 46.3%, (시멘트+소석회(消石灰)):연탄재는 65.9%, (시멘트+프라이애쉬):연탄재는 39.1%의 강도(强度)를 나타냈으며 재령(材令) 28일(日)에서는 전자(前者)와 동일순(同一順)으로 89.9%, 96.7%, 85.1%의 강도(强度)를 나타냈다. 5. 연탄재를 시멘트로 경화(硬化)시켰을 때의 강도(强度)는 시멘트 모르터에 비(比)해서 저강도(低强度)이지만 시멘트 또는 콘크리트 2차제품(次製品)에 이용(利用)이 가능(可能)하다고 보며 연탄재를 경화(硬化)시켜 건설재료(建設材料)로 이용(利用)하므로서 각종(各種) 공해방지(公害防止)와 폐기물처리(廢棄物處理)의 노력절약(努力節約)과 폐기물(廢棄物)의 유효이용(有效利用)으로 골재자원(骨材資源)의 절약(節約)에 유익(有益)하다고 생각된다.

The Effects of Phosphorus Fertilization After Incorporation of Green Manure Crops to Jeju Volcanic Ash Soils on Potato Yields, Available Phosphate Contents in Soil, and Phosphorus Balances

  • The volcanic ash soils from the Jeju province have low available phosphate because of the high phosphate fixing power of the soils. Phosphorus fertilizerwas dressed after cultivating green manure crops and before cultivating potatoes in order to investigate potato yields, the available phosphate contents, and phosphorus balance in the soils. Green manure crops cultivated in this study were hairy vetch alone and hairy vetch and rye. During potato cultivation, four treatments were conducted in the experiments; NF (non fertilizer), P fertilizer ($N-P-K=0-25-0kg\;10a^{-1}$), NK fertilizer ($N-P-K=18-0-19kg\;10a^{-1}$), and NPK fertilizer ($N-P-K=18-25-19kg\;10a^{-1}$). There were no differences in the yields of potato stem and tuber from the cultivation plots of different green manure crops. However, in the plots with single-sown hairy vetch and mixed-sown hairy vetch and rye, the yields of potato stem and tuber were higher in the P fertilizer plot than in NF plot. The yield of tuber among the treatments with mixed-sown hairy vetch and rye was the highest in the NPK fertilizer plot. The available phosphate content in soils initially increased with time in all plots, but began to decrease gradually after Oct. 18. The available phosphate contents were high in the plots for phosphate fertilization, and the difference in available phosphate content between non-phosphorus fertilizer plots and phosphorus fertilizer plots increased with time. In the single-sown hairy vetch and mixed-sown hairy vetch and rye plot, the phosphorus balances in NF plot and NK fertilizer plot were very low, while those in the P fertilizer plot and NPK fertilizer plot were high. In conclusion, available phosphate contents in soil and the potato yields were increased by phosphorus fertilization when potatoes planted after cultivating hairy vetch and rye together, compared to hairy vetch alone.

Botanical Composition, Herbage Production and Plant Mineral Contents as Affected by Application of Chemical Fertilizer and Fermented Sawdust Pig Manure on Cheju Brown Volcanic Ash Pasture Soil

  • This experiment was carried out during the period from September, 1997 to October, 1998 to determine the effect of fermented saw-dust pig manure (FSP) application on the herbage production on a mixed pasture in the Cheju brown volcanic ash soil. Split plot design (main plot: 3 nitrogen application levels of 0, 150 and 300 kgiha; sub plot: 4 pig sawdust manure levels of 0, 3, 6 and 12 tonha) was used. Plant height and dry matter yield increased significantly with an increase of nitrogen and FSP level. There was no difference in the botanical composition of grasses as affected by FSP application level, but herbage yields of grass species were increased by nitrogen application compared to that without nitrogen application. Botanical composition of white clover decreased with an increase of nitrogen application, but increased with an increase of FSP application level. Percentages of weeds were not affected by application rates of chemical nitrogen fertilizer and swine manure in the mixed species pasture. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium contents of species in the pasture significantly increased with increasing application rates of nitrogen fertilizer. In conclusion, it would be an optimum to apply 150 kgha of inorganic chemical fertilizer and plus either 3 or 6 toniha of fermented swine manure with sawdust for optimum production of mixed pasture on Cheju Island. 국내 무연탄과 미분을 성형한 무연탄의 순환유동층 연소 (Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion of Korean Anthracite and Fabricated Anthracite Fines)

  • 순환유동층에서 나타나는 국내 무연탄의 낮은 연소성을 극복하고 비산재로 배출되는 미연분의 손실을 극복하기 위하여 분탄과 비산회를 혼합하여 성형한 성형탄과 무연탄의 혼소를 0.1 MW급 순환유동층에서 수행하였다. 비교 시험에서 원탄 연소는 다량의 미분의 비산과 연소로 상부에서의 과열을 일으켰으나 조립탄 연소의 경우 미분을 제거하였으므로 일정한 온도에서 연소되었고 운전이 가장 안정적이었다. 조립탄과 원탄이 혼합된 석탄은 다소 운전이 불안하였으나 원탄만을 연소시킬 때보다는 안정적 연소가 가능하였다. 조립탄에 성형탄을 혼합한 경우 조립탄 연소의 경우와 같이 원활한 운전이 가능하였다. 본 연구는 상용 순환유동층 보일러에서 성형탄 혼소가 국내 무연탄의 연소성 개선에 도움이 됨을 보여 주었다.

내열강의 고온부식특성에 대한 크롬함량의 영향 (Hot Corrosion Properties of Heat Resistant Chrome Steels)

  • The hot corrosion properties of heat-resistant steels were investigated in an oxidation atmosphere including artificial ash and sulfur dioxide. The heat-resistant steels of T22, T92, T122, T347HFG, Super304H and HR3C were evaluated at 620, 670 and $720^{\circ}C$ for 400 hours. The relationship between the corrosion rate and the temperature followed a bell-shaped curve with a peak rate at around $670^{\circ}C$. The corrosion rates showed a decreasing tendency as the chrome contents of these steels increased from 2.15 wt.% to 24.5 wt.%, and austenitic steels had a lower corrosion rate than ferritic steels. Sulfidation by $SO_2$ as well as molten salt corrosion also had an effect on the total corrosion rate, especially showing an increase in the corrosion rate in ferritic steels. Regardless of the chrome content in the steels and irrespective of the test temperature, the corrosion scale was composed of an outer oxide and an artificial ash mixed layer, a middle oxide layer and inner sulfide, and a mixed oxide layer. As the chrome content increased, the proportion of chrome oxide in the corrosion scale increased. Before spalling of the corrosion scale, voids and cracks were initiated in the sulfide and the mixed oxide layer or at the interface with the substrate.

유동성 뒷채움재로 사용하기 위한 플라이에쉬-폐주물사 혼합재료의 특성 연구 (Engineering Properties of Fly Ash-WFS Mixed Materials as a Flow able Backfill)

  • The objective of this study is to present engineering properties required in use of co-mixtures of fly ash and WFS(Waste Foundry Sand)'s, which are Presently used as fill or (lovable backfill. The fly ash, generated at the Tae-An thermoelectric power plant was used in this research and was classified as Class F. Green Sand, Furane Sand, and Coated Sand, which had been used at a foundry located in Pusan, were used. Laboratory experiments were peformed to obtain the physical properties of the co-mixture of fly ash and WFS. The range of permeability for all the co-mixtures was from 3.0×10/sup -3/㎝/s to 6.0×10/sup -5/㎝/s. The unconfined strength of the 7-day cured specimens composed of Green Sand reached 94% of that of 28-day cured specimens but for the 7-day cured specimens composed of, respectively, Furnace Sand and Coated Sand, only 64% and 66% of the strength of the 28-day cured specimens were reached. Results of the consolidated-untrained triaxial test showed that the specimens composed of Furnace Sand showed a distinct increase of the internal friction angle, while the other specimens showed negligible increase. In the case of 28-day cured specimens, specimens composed of Furnace Sand showed an internal friction angle of 41.8°, while specimens of Green and Coated Sand showed those of 33.5° and 35.0°, respectively. From the shrinkage test, the shrinkage ratios of all specimens did not exceed 0.25%.

Coal Bottom Ash Application on Park Site Soil and Its Impacts on Turfgrass Growth and Soil Quality

  • Bottom ash (BA) has different macro- and micronutrients such as B, Mo, Fe, Ca, and Mg, providing useful resources for plant growth and soil quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the applicability of artificial top-soil treated with BA in park area as a vegetation base material, especially for turfgrass growth. Collected BA was mixed with peat moss and clay at the ratio of 70:10:20 (w/w). In order to evaluate the park quality and turfgrass growth in park area, the artificial soil was applied with BA along with the control or without BA. Result showed that exchangeable K and P were increased by $11.4mg\;kg^{-1}$ and $163mg\;kg^{-1}$, respectively, compared to the control soil when the artificial soil was treated with BA. Microbial population and enzyme activity (Acid-phosphatase, APA) in artificial soil having BA also increased as 2 times and 10%, respectively, compared to the control soil. Comparing turfgrass growth and yield between general soil and artificial soil, about 2 times higher plant yield (fresh weight) was observed as artificial soil was applied comparing to general soil. Furthermore, nutrient concentration in turfgrass was averaged as 0.440% for $P_2O_5$, 0.456% for CaO, 1.198% for $K_2O$ and 0.188% for MgO that all values are higher than general soil (0.323% for $P_2O_5$, 0.416% for CaO, 0.610% for $K_2O$ and 0.173% for MgO). Application of BA can be useful for vegetation base material in park site.

Prediction of UCS and STS of Kaolin clay stabilized with supplementary cementitious material using ANN and MLR

  • The present study focuses on the application of artificial neural network (ANN) and Multiple linear Regression (MLR) analysis for developing a model to predict the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and split tensile strength (STS) of the fiber reinforced clay stabilized with grass ash, fly ash and lime. Unconfined compressive strength and Split tensile strength are the nonlinear functions and becomes difficult for developing a predicting model. Artificial neural networks are the efficient tools for predicting models possessing non linearity and are used in the present study along with regression analysis for predicting both UCS and STS. The data required for the model was obtained by systematic experiments performed on only Kaolin clay, clay mixed with varying percentages of fly ash, grass ash, polypropylene fibers and lime as between 10-20%, 1-4%, 0-1.5% and 0-8% respectively. Further, the optimum values of the various stabilizing materials were determined from the experiments. The effect of stabilization is observed by performing compaction tests, split tensile tests and unconfined compression tests. ANN models are trained using the inputs and targets obtained from the experiments. Performance of ANN and Regression analysis is checked with statistical error of correlation coefficient (R) and both the methods predict the UCS and STS values quite well; but it is observed that ANN can predict both the values of UCS as well as STS simultaneously whereas MLR predicts the values separately. It is also observed that only STS values can be predicted efficiently by MLR.

석탄 저회-규사 필터의 입자상물질 여과 성능 실험적 평가 (Experimental Evaluation of Particulate-matter Filtration Performance of a Bottom Ash-Silica Sand Mixture)

  • 투수성 포장은 강우를 노반으로 침투시켜 지표면 유출량 감소와 수질 개선을 기대하기 위한 기술이다. 수질 개선효과의 증대를 위해 투수성 포장 내에는 필터층을 추가하기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 투수성 포장의 구성 요소인 여재 필터의 성능을 알아보기 위해 석탄 저회-규사 여재에 대한 투수성능과 입자상 물질 제거 효율을 분석하였으며, 석탄저회와 규사를 기본 재료로 하는 5개의 여재를 대상으로 하였고, 입자상 물질로는 60㎛ 이하의 입자를 사용하였다. 순수 규사 시료 혹은 순수 석탄저회 시료는 평균적으로 약 70%의 입자상 물질 제거효율을 보였으나, 혼합 시료의 경우 제거 효율이 약 90%로서, 비점오염 저감시설에 대한 저감율 권고치인 80%를 상회하는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 현장 검증을 통한 투수성 포장 내 여재 필터 성능에 대한 검증 후 도로 시설 혹은 독립적인 여과 장치로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 판단한다.

Feeding broiler chicks with Schizosaccharomyces pombe-expressed phytase-containing diet improves growth performance, phosphorus digestibility, toe ash, and footpad lesions

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of Schizosaccharomyces pombe (S. pombe) -expressed phytase on growth performance, apparent ileal digestibility, organ indexes, meat quality, toe ash, and footpad lesions score in broiler chicks. Methods: A total of 390 one-day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to 5 groups based on the initial body weight (42.15±0.17 g), there were 6 replicate cages per treatment and 13 birds (mixed sex) per cage. The experimental period was 45 days, including 4 periods (starter, days 1 to 10; grower, days 11 to 24; finisher 1, days 25 to 38; finisher 2, days 39 to 45). Dietary treatments were based on a corn-soybean meal-basal diet and supplemented with 500, 750, 1,000, and 1,500 FTU/kg S. pombe-expressed phytase. One phytase unit (FTU) was defined as the amount of enzyme that catalyzes the release of one micromole phosphate from phytate per minute at 37℃ and pH 5.5. Results: The inclusion of increasing levels of phytase in the diet linearly increased the body weight gain during days 1 to 10 (p = 0.001), 25 to 38 (p = 0.016), 39 to 45 (p = 0.018), and 1 to 45 (p = 0.004), feed intake during days 25 to 38 (p = 0.032), feed conversion ratio during days 1 to 10 (p = 0.001), 39 to 45 (p = 0.038), and 1 to 45 (p = 0.012), carcass weight (p = 0.035), toe ash (p<0.001), and apparent ileal phosphorus digestibility (p = 0.049). However, the footpad lesions score (p = 0.040) decreased linearly with the increase in phytase levels in the diet. Conclusion: Dietary supplementation of S. pombe-expressed phytase was beneficial to the growth performance, toe ash, apparent ileal phosphorus digestibility, and footpad lesions of broiler chicks in a dose-dependent manner.
