  • Permeable polymer concrete can be applied to roads, sidewalks, river embankments, drain pipes, conduits, retaining walls, yards, parking lots, plazas, interlocking blocks, etc. This study was to explore a possibility of using blast furnace slag powder and stone dust of industrial by-products as fillers for Eco-permeable polymer concrete. Different mix proportions were tried to find an optimum mix proportion of the Ecopermeable polymer concrete. The tests were carried out at $20{\pm}1^{circ}C$ and $60{\pm}2\%$ relative humidity. At 7 days of curing, unit weight, coefficient of permeability, dynamic modulus of elasticity, compressive, flexural and splitting tensile strengths ranged between $1,821{\~}1,955 kg/m^{3}$, $0.056{\~}0.081\;cm/s$, $114{\times}0^{2}{\~}157{\times}10^{2}\;MPa,\;17.6{\~}24.7\;MPa,\;5.98{\~}7.94\;MPa\;and\;3.43{\~}4.70\;MPa$, respectively. It was concluded that the blast furnace slag powder and stone dust can be used in the Eco-permeable polymer concrete.

  • The latex modified concrete(LMC) was adds latex in the plain concrete as the latex has increase the durability of concrete. But it is added in LMC manufacture, which is a high price compares with different material and there is a weak point where the construction expense is very high. So, this study are decided mix proportion from the scope where the security strong point of LMC is possible and reduced the material expense by control the latex contents. and these mix proportions are estimated the chloride ion diffusion. The results of study appear that it can reduced the latex content until the $5{\sim}10$% of cements, and these mixtures are very low chloride ion diffusion.

  • The marine industry contributes a large proportion of the air pollutant emissions along coastal regions, and this air pollution has been strongly linked to cardiovascular diseases and other illnesses. To alleviate the problem, many ports have installed alternative maritime power (AMP) facilities that enable onboard marine auxiliary engines with generators (gensets) to be shut down while a ship is at berth. This study compared the emissions from conventional gensets with those from AMP facilities, focusing on four emission types: greenhouse gases (GHG), sulphur oxides (SOX), nitrogen oxides (NOX), and particulate matter (PM). Both direct (combustion / operation) and indirect (upstream) emissions were considered together for the emission comparison. The results showed that AMP has lower emissions than conventional onboard gensets, and this benefit is highly dependent on the electricity generation mix onshore. On average, GHG emissions could be reduced by about 18.3 %, while the other emissions (SOX, NOX, and PM) would decrease more dramatically (88.4 %, 90.1 %, and 91.5 %, respectively). Additionally, future benefits of the AMP would increase due to the expansion of renewable energies. Thus, this study supports the potential of AMP as a promising solution for environmental concerns at ports worldwide.

  • The main purpose of this study is reducing the cost and effort for characterization of tensile strength of fiber reinforced concrete, in order to use in structural design. For this purpose, in this study, test for fiber reinforced concrete was carried out. Because fiber reinforced concrete is consisted of diverse material, it is hard to define the correlation between mix proportions and strength. Therefore, compressive strength test and tensile strength test were carried out for the range of smaller than 100 MPa of compressive strength and 0.25~1% of steel fiber volume fraction. as a results of test, two types of tensile strength were highly affected by compressive strength of concrete. However, increase rate of tensile strength was decreased with increase of compressive strength. Increase rate of tensile strength was decreased with increase of fiber volume fraction. Database was constructed using previous research data. Because estimation equations for tensile strength of fiber reinforced concrete should be multiple variable function, linear regression is hard to apply. Therefore, in this study, we decided to use the ANN(Artificial Neural Network). ANN was constructed using multiple layer perceptron architecture. Sigmoid function was used as transfer function and back propagation training method was used. As a results of prediction using artificial neural network, predicted values of test data and previous research which was randomly selected were well agreed with each other. And the main effective parameters are water-cement ratio and fiber volume fraction.

  • Critical chloride content for corrosion initiation is a crucial parameter in determining the durability and integrity of reinforced concrete structures, however, the value is still ambiguous. Most of the studies reporting critical threshold chloride content have involved the experimental measurement of the average amount of the total chloride content at arbitrary time. The majority of these researches have not dealt with this issue combined with carbonation of concrete, although carbonation can significantly impact on critical threshold chloride content. Furthermore, the studies have tried to define the critical chloride content within the scope of their experimental concrete mix proportion at arbitrary time. However, critical chloride content for corrosion initiation is known to be affected by a lot of factors including cement content, type of binder, chloride binding, concentration of hydroxyl ions, and so on. It is necessary to define the unified formulation to express the critical chloride content for various mix proportions of concrete. The purpose of this study is to establish an analytical formulation of the critical chloride content of concrete. In this formulation, affecting factors, such as mix proportion, environment, chemical evolution of pore solution with elapsed time, carbonation of concrete and so on are taken into account. Based on the Gouda's experimental results, critical chloride content is defined as a function of $[Cl^-]$ vs. $[OH^-]$ in pore solution. This is expressed as free chloride content with mass unit to consider time evolution of $[OH^-]$ content in pore solution using the numerical simulation programme of cementitious materials, HYMOSTRUC. The result was compared with other experimental studies and various codes. It is believed that the approach suggested in this study can provide a good solution to determine the reasonable critical chloride content with original source of chloride ions, for example, marine sand at initial time, and sea water penetration later on.

  • In this research, the mix proportion of the antiwashout underwater concrete with the mineral admixture was evaluated. It can reduce the amount used of the antiwashout admixture (hereinafter referred to as "AWA") and satisfy the properties of concrete. In addition, the review for the difference of the test and practical affairs were conducted. Optimized unit quantity of water of antiwashout underwater concrete and the amount used of AWA was revealed by $190kg/m^3$, 0.9%/W, respectively. In particularly, the mix design is reduced by 5% than the W/B of target strength even though the W and AWA reduced. Therefore, it will have the economical feasibility and qualities including the material separation, resistance characteristic and compressive strength, and etc. The stable value was shown in 1 point of minute passed in the measurement of the turbidity amounts using the turbidimeter after the checker insertion. However, it needs to be reviewed for the interrelationship between turbidity measuring machine and KCI-AD102 standard method. There were no significant differences of compressive strength of specimens in the water depending on the production methods.

  • In the present study is focused on the evaluation of the shrinkage characteristics of mix proportion using viscosity agent for printing. Also, another purpose is to compare the shrinkage properties of the mold cast specimen with the additive manufactured specimen using 3D printing techniques. Viscosity agent makes the shrinkage was reduced by an average of 25% (as of 56 days) compared to the reference mix. The effects of reduced shrinkage were also founded, with a reduction of about 15% (as of 28 days). As a result of evaluating the shrinkage using the additive manufactured specimen and the mold cast specimen prepared by the printing mix, the shrinkage of the additive manufactured specimen was reduced by about 25% (based on 28 days). Based on the results of this study, it is possible to predict the shrinkage rate and the occurrence of cracks due to shrinkage on the printing of cement-based composite materials using 3D printing.

  • Setting time of cement-based materials can represent a developing strength in early-age mixture, and it can be used a significant parameter of high-performance concrete having various mix-proportions. Generally, initial and final setting time of concrete is measured by penetration resistance method that used a wet-sieving mortar mixture, therefore, it hardly represents the setting time of sound concrete including coarse aggregate. Recently, several nondestructive methods, such as ultrasonic velocity and impendence measurement, are proposed to evaluate the setting time of fresh concrete. This study attempts to measure an electrical resistivity using four-electrode method for evaluation of setting time in early-age cement-based materials. For this purpose, total 10 mixtures are prepared as different mix-proportions including chemical admixture. Based on the experimental results, two electrical parameters, such as initial electrical resistivity and rising time, are proposed to reflect a microstructure development by hydration of cement-based materials. As a result, proposed parameter is also discussed with the measured setting time by penetration resistance method.

  • The industrial by-product market has increased at a geometric rate worldwide with the rapid economic growth. At present time, conventional disposal methods of industrial by-products in Korea including landfill, incineration and storage already have reached their limits. In this study, the industrial by-products such as fly ash and silicafume were used as mineral admixtures, which are commonly added to concrete mix to inhance the economic efficiency, long-term strength and durability of concrete, to determine the optimized mix proportion of high performance shotcrete. Through the series of tests (compressive strength test, accelerated chloride ion penetration test, measurement of chloride diffusion coefficient). The results of the study showed that the proposed mix proportions satisfied the requirements of domestic as well as international guidelines for shotcrete, with a higher durability than the existing shotcrete.

  • Recently, the mortar crack on floor is very serious in construction field, e.g. the crack due to plastic shrinkage and the crack due to drying shrinkage. To prevent this kind of crack, optimum mix proportions not only satisfying the required workability but also minimizing the unit water content were selected. And the expansion admixtures were used to compensate shrmkage of mortar. The water /cement ratio used in construction field is about 64% by the investigation. Even if the water /cement ratio of mortar is reduced, floor mortar is still able to have the required workability by the appropriate use of the fine aggregate with high fineness mo'dulus and superplastizer. The equations hetween mortar flow and water /cement ratio, sand /cement ratio, fineness modulus of fine aggregate were proposed in this study. And the proposed equation may provide available mix proportions of floor mortar.
