OPTICAL AND NIR PHOTOMETRY OF OPEN CLUSTER NGC 7790

  • We present BVRI CCD photometry and near-infrared K photometry of the intermediate-aged open cluster NGC 7790. The reddening, E(B - V) = 0.54 $\pm$ 0.05 and the distance modulus, (m - M)o = 12.45 $\pm$ 0.10 for the cluster were determined by zero-age-main-sequence fitting and theoretical isochrone fitting using not only (V, B - V), (V, V - 1), (V, V - R) but also (V, V - K) color-magnitude diagrams. The reddening corresponded approximately to the average value derived from previous studies, while the distance modulus was found to be almost midway between the CCD photometric results of Romeo et al. (1989) and those of Mateo & Madore (1988). We have used four colors to distinguish members from field stars. The expected colors were calculated using the derived distance modulus, and were then were compared with the observed colors (B - V), (V - 1), (V - R), and (V - K). Thus, a color excess E(B - V) for each star was determined which could give the minimum difference between the calculated and observed colors. Single and binary members of the cluster were determined on the basis of the E(B - V) distribution of stars.

마늘 주아 수확기 개발을 위한 마늘종의 역학적 특성 분석 (Mechanical Characteristics of Garlic Scapes for Developing Mechanical Garlic Bulbils Harvester)

  • Mechanical characteristics of flower stalks (scapes) of garlic such as shear forces, cutting forces, and modulus of elasticities were investigated as a preliminary research to develop a mechanical harvester of garlic bulbils. The average shear forces of garlic scapes was 0.642 N and the maximum and minimum shear forces were 1.42 and 0.25 N, respectively. The shear forces generally increased as the diameter of garlic scapes increased. There was no correlation between the modulus of elasticity and the diameter of garlic scapes and the average modulus of elasticity of garlic scapes was around $2.40\times10^7\;N/m^2$ There was also no correlation between the cutting force and the diameter of garlic scapes. As the downward speed of blade increased, the cutting force of garlic scapes decreased and reversed to increase. The cutting forces of the lower part garlic scapes were lower than those of the upper part. The range of cutting forces of the lower and the upper part of garlic scapes were 3.88-4.04 N and 4.29-4.93 N, respectively.

나노인덴터에 의한 ITO / Glass 박막재의 기계적 특성 (Mechanical Properties of ITO / Glass Thin Film by Indentation Method)

  • The thin film of indium tin oxide (ITO) was prepared using the inclination opposite target type DC magnetron sputtering equipment onto the glass substrate at room temperature, using oxidized ITO with In2O3 and SnO2in a weight ratio of 9:1. The elastic modulus and hardness of the ITO thin films, prepared at different deposition conditions, were determined through anano-indentation experiment. The work pressure was varied from $2.6{\times}10-1\;to\;8.3{\times}10-1Pa$. The results show that the variation of work pressure during film deposition could vary significantly, according to the elastic modulus and hardness of the ITO thin films. It also can be seen that a minimum value exists in the film resistivity for the ITO thin films, prepared according to the variation of work pressure. However, the ITO film produced at room temperature had a microstructure in which a X ray diffraction peak is not clear, regardless of the work pressure.

Laboratory evaluation of roller compacted concrete containing RAP

  • This paper investigates mechanical properties of roller compacted concrete (RCC) involving reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). In this way, a set of 276 cylindrical RCC specimens were prepared with different RAP sizes (i.e., fine, coarse & total) at various ratios (i.e., 10%, 20%, and 40%). Results reveal that incorporation of RAP decreases unconfined compressive strength (UCS), modulus of elasticity (E), and indirect tensile (IDT) strength of RCC. For each RAP size, a regression model was used to maximize RAP content while satisfying the UCS lower limit (27.6 Mpa) mentioned by ACI as a minimum requirement for RCC used in pavement construction. Moreover, UCS of RAP incorporated mixes, dissimilar to that of control mixes, was found to be sensitive and insensitive to the testing temperature and curing time after 7 days, respectively. The results also demonstrate that the higher amounts of RAP, the more flexibility in RCC is. This issue was also proved by the results of modulus of elasticity test. In addition, the toughness index (TI) shows that increase in RAP content leads to up to 43% increase in energy absorbance capacity of RCC.

고정상태에서 신체 형태변화에 따른 떨림 판별의 예측시스템 연구 (A Study on Anticipation System of Shudder Distinction by the Physical Shape Alteration in Static Condition)

  • 생체의 움직임을 판별을 예측하는 기술은 흐름판별율과 스트림판별율로 변화의 형태를 구성하여 진행한다. 떨림의 움직이는 형태는 판별율의 조건에 따라 움직임의 유동시스템으로 구성한다. 흐름판별율은 생체 내 물질에서 특별한 부위의 신호를 대상으로 생체의 움직임을 정의하고 그 주변에 형태에 따라 흐름을 판별하여 떨림을 비교하여 신호값으로 선정한다. 스트림판별율은 스트림상태의 기준값을 설정하고 측정된 값과 비교하여 신호값으로 선정한다. 대상조건에 따라 판별은 특정부위의 상-아래-주변-중앙을 대상으로 최대치와 최소치 및 평균값으로 변수를 측정하였다. 떨림의 변화에 따라 상 $(-0.817){\pm}0.15$, 주변 $(-2.53){\pm}(-0.11)$, 아래 $(-0.29){\pm}0.03$, 중앙 $(-0.09){\pm}(-0.01)$ 의 최대치-최소치-평균값이 나타났다. 형태의 변화에 따른 현상을 통하여 생체의 움직임의 범위가 어떠한 형태의 유동현상을 갖고 있는지 예측할 수 있고, 특정부위의 상-아래-주변-중앙의 움직임으로 데이터를 구성하면 앞으로 특정부위의 여러 변화를 주었을 때 신체의 다양한 변화를 판별하는 예측기술이 진행될 것으로 판단된다.

압입속도의 변화에 따른 탄성계수와 경도의 오차 연구 (The Measurement Errors of Elastic Modulus and Hardness due to the Different Indentation Speed)

  • 나노 소재의 물성을 측정하기 위하여 대부분의 연구 그룹에서는 크게 두 가지 분석 기법인 분광학을 이용한 분석과 나노트라이볼로지를 이용한 분석을 사용하고 있다. 분광학을 이용한 분석에는 NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), IR (Infrared Spectroscopy), Raman 등이 대표적이라 할 수 있고, 나노트라이볼로지를 이용한 분석에는 AFM (Atomic Force Micro-Scope), EFM (Electrostatic Force Microscope), KFM (Kelvin Force Microscope), Nanoindenter 등의 탐침을 이용한 측정 기법이 대표적이다. Nanoindenter는 물질의 탄성 및 경도를 측정 할 수 있으며 이를 통해 물질의 특성을 연구 하는 데에 사용된다. 그러나 이런 Nanoindenter의 압입 실험에서 압입 조건 등의 통제 변수가 다르면 그 결과 값도 바뀌는 것을 볼 수 있는데 본 실험에서는 이런 압입 조건 중 Load - Hold - Unload force의 속도 및 시간을 변화시켜 물질의 탄성계수와 경도가 어떠한 차이를 가지는지 연구하였다.

목질폐잔재를 재활용한 목질보도블록 제조기술 개발 (A Development of Manufacturing Process of Wooden Footpath Block to Reuse of Wood Waste)

  • The objective of this research project was to develop the wooden footpath block to reuse of wood waste. Some physical and mechanical properties of the wooden block such as water absorption, thickness swelling, modulus of rupture, internal bond, density profile and impact resistance were studied. Water absorption and thickness swelling of the wooden block were greatly reduced when the wooden block was pressed inside the forming device than by conventional hot pressing. Also, Modulus of rupture and internal bond of the wooden block were increased greatly when the pressing was completed inside the forming device. The density profile of the wooden block was improved up to 93.5%, minimum to average density ratio. The wooden block manufactured in this study have excellent physical and mechanical prperties in comparison with existing wood based materials. So, these wooden blocks are applicable to footpth block or other exterior members.

Mechanistic representation of the grading-dependent aggregates resiliency using stress transmission column

  • A significant influence of the particle size distribution on the resilient behaviour of granular aggregates was usually observed in laboratory tests. However, the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon were rarely reached. In this study, a mechanistic model considering particle breakage is proposed. It is found to be the combined effects of the coefficient of uniformity and the size range between maximum and minimum particle sizes that influences the resilient modulus of granular aggregates. The resilient modulus is found to undergo reduction with evolution of particle breakage by shifting the initial particle size distribution to a broader one.

  • The effects of binder content and silica sand content on the freezing and thawing resistance of lightweight polymer concrete are examined. As a result, the mass loss and pulse velocity of lightweight polymer concrete decrease with increasing binder content and silica sand content. The relative dynamic modulus and durability factor of lightweight polymer concrete reaches minimum at a silica sand content of 50% and a binder content of 28%, and is inclined to increase with increasing binder content and silica sand content.
