  • In this paper, a mechanism that produces an approximation edges minimum spanning tree swiftly using virtual nodes called portals dividing given edges into same distance sub-edges. The approximation edges minimum spanning tree can be used in many useful areas as connecting communication lines, road networks and railroad systems. For 3000 random input edges, when portal distance is 0.3, tree building time decreased 29.74% while the length of the produced tree increased 1.8% comparing with optimal edge minimum spanning tree in our experiment. When portal distance is 0.75, tree building time decreased 39.96% while the tree length increased 2.96%. The result shows this mechanism might be well applied to the applications that may allow a little length overhead, but should produce an edge connecting tree in short time. And the proposed mechanism can produce an approximation edge minimum spanning tree focusing on tree length or on building time to meet user requests by adjusting portal distance or portal discard ratio as parameter.

  • Cluster sensor network is a sensor network where input nodes crowd densely around some nuclei. Steiner minimum tree is a tree connecting all input nodes with introducing some additional nodes called Steiner points. This paper proposes a mechanism for efficient construction of a cluster sensor network connecting all sensor nodes and base stations using connections between nodes in each belonged cluster and between every cluster, and using repetitive constructions of approximate Steiner minimum trees. In experiments, while taking 1170.5% percentages more time to build cluster sensor network than the method of Euclidian minimum spanning tree, the proposed mechanism whose time complexity is O($N^2$) could spend only 20.3 percentages more time for building 0.1% added length network in comparison with the method of Euclidian minimum spanning tree. The mechanism could curtail the built trees' average length by maximum 3.7 percentages and by average 1.9 percentages, compared with the average length of trees built by Euclidian minimum spanning tree method.

However, the study of morphologic characteristics on the face is applied for the first time. For quantitative analysis of the correlation between the sasang constitution and the shape of the face, the head-facial part of 170 cases were measured by Martin's measurement and analysis of a) the measurement value of height and the component ratio from the Gnathion to each part of face by constitution. b) the measurement value of depth and the component ratio from T-projected to each part of the face by constitution. c) the measurement value of breadth and component ratio between each parts of the facial breadth by constitution. d) the ratio of square on every part of face by constitution. e) the characteristics on each part of the face by constitution. f) the contour line of the forehead. g) the result of discriminant analysis about the constitution. Authors obtained the results from the study as follows; 1. The characteristics of Taeum-IN (1) The measurement value of Height, Breadth, T-Projected had a tendency to maximum value in general. (2) The value of lower opthal height and the square of lower opthal part was maximum. (3) The value of Pronasal T-projected length and Subnasal T-projected length was minimum, so Taeum-In has characteristics of depression in middle face, nasal part. (6) The projection of mouth was minimum. (7) The jaw was flat. (8) The breadth of eye was maximum. (9) There was a tendency that the projection of the forehead to the left in general. 3. The characteristics of Soyang-In. (1) In most cases of 고경 length the measurement value was minimum. (2) By the Pupulare T-projected length, each ratio of projected length was maximum, so the Soyang-In's face shape has many protrusions (3) In the ratio of Breadth, T-Projected, T-Projected was maximum. (4) The square of mouth was minimum. (5) The inclination of the forehead was minimum. (6) The projection of mouth was maximum. (7) The breadth of eye was minimum. (8) There was a tendency that the projection of the forehead to the left in general. (9) The middle face was protruded. 4. Discriminant about the constitution. According to the result of discriminant, the accuracy probability of discriminant was 85.58% in total and Taeum-In was 90.5%, Soeum-In was 70.8%, Soyang-In was 89.5%. The accuracy probability of discriminant about 3 constitutional group increased by 49.03% than the accident probility 36.55% 5. Suggestion (1) The study which gather and analysis the data should be continued. (2) The study which subdivide the characteristics of each part of the face by the constitution should be continued. (3) The analysis method about Moire should be supplement. (4) The study about the morphologic characteristics of the whole body should be continued. (5) Computer program of constitution diagnosis should be developed. (6) To increase utility of this method, the measurement should be automation.

  • Due to the recent rapid industrialization worldwide, the number of pediatric asthma patients is increasing. And the fine dust containing heavy metals is linked to the characteristics of high toxic lead due to the increase heating in factory operation and automobile driving. It is the reason of arsenic increasing. In the treatment of pediatric asthma patients, drug administration, oral drug entry, and HMPC (Home Management Plan of Care) are used. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between the onset of asthma and the method of prescription for specific childhood asthma in the United States using EM (Expectation Maximization) and MDL (Minimum Description Length) algorithms. And the association is also analyzed by comparing the nature of specific congestion between the past prevalence of digestive asthma and the recent prevalence of environmental pollution.

  • For $q^5-q^3-q^2-q+1{\leq}d{\leq}q^5-q^3-q^2$, we prove the non-existence of a $[g_q(6,d),6,d]_q$ code and we give a $[g_q(6,d)+1,6,d]_q$ code by constructing appropriate 0-cycle in the projective space, where $g_q (k,d)={{\sum}^{k-1}_{i=0}}{\lceil}\frac{d}{q^i}{\rceil}$. Consequently, we have the minimum length $n_q(6,d)=g_q(6,d)+1\;for\;q^5-q^3-q^2-q+1{\leq}d{\leq}q^5-q^3-q^2\;and\;q{\geq}3$.

  • In order to tolerate faults which may occur during the execution of distributed tasks in high-performance parallel computer systems, tasks are duplicated on different processors. In this paper, by utilizing the task duplication based scheduling algorithm, a new task scheduling algorithm which duplicates each task on more than two different processors with the minimum schedule length is presented, and the number of processors required for the duplication is analyzed with the ratio of communication cost to computation time and the workload of the system. A simulation with various task graphs reveals that the number of processors required for the full-duplex fault-tolerant task scheduling with the obtainable minimum schedule length increases about 30% to 75% when compared with that of the task duplication based scheduling algorithm.

  • When the stagnation temperature of a perfect gas increases, the specific heats and their ratio do not remain constant any more and start to vary with this temperature. The gas remains perfect; its state equation remains always valid, except, it is named in more by calorically imperfect gas. The aim of this work is to trace the profiles of the supersonic axisymmetric Minimum Length Nozzle to have a uniform and parallel flow at the exit section, when the stagnation temperature is taken into account, lower than the dissociation threshold of the molecules, and to have for each exit Mach number and stagnation temperature shape of nozzle. The method of characteristics is used with the algorithm of the second order finite differences method. The form of the nozzle has a point of deflection and an initial angle of expansion. The comparison is made with the calorically perfect gas. The application is for air.

  • The forward voltage drop of IGBT is studied numerically and analytically as a function of gate length. An analytical expression is presented for the first time for the surface potential variation along the channel layer under the gate of IGBT. The surface potential drop and the carrier density near the surface allow calculation of the forward voltage drop of IGBT analytically as a function of the gate length. The voltage-drop in the drift region near the gate decreases exponentially, whereas that on the surface increases linearly with increasing the gate length, the sum of which exhibits an optimum gate length, resulting in a minimum forward voltage drop. Based on the surface potential drop, a remodelling of the forward voltage drop of IGBT is also proposed.

  • Constant .DELTA.K fatigue crack growth rate experiments were performed by applying an intermediate single and multiple overload for structural steel, SM45C. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the influence of multiple overloads at various stress intensity factor ranges and the effect of statistical variability of crack retardation behavior. The normalized delayed load cycle, delayed crack length and the minimum crack growth rate are increased with increasing baseline stress intensity factor range when the overload ratio and the number of overload application were constant. The crack retardation under low baseline stress intensity factor range increases by increasing the number of overload application, but the minimum crack growth rate decreases by increasing the number of overload application. A strong linear correlation exists between the minimum crack growth rate and the number of overload applications. And, it was observed that the variability in the crack growth retardation behavior are presented, the probability distribution functions of delayed load cycle, delayed crack length and crack growth life are 2-parameter Weibull. The coefficient of variation of delayed load cycle and delayed crack length for the number of 10 overload applications data are 14.8 and 9.2%, respectively.

  • The paper presents an efficient computation of optimal tool length for 5-axis mold & die machining. The implemented procedure processes an NC file as an initial input, where the NC data is generated by another commercial CAM system. A commercial CAM system generates 5-axis machining NC data which, in its own way, is optimal based on pre-defined machining condition such as tool-path pattern, tool-axis control via inclination angles, etc. The proper tool-length should also be provided. The tool-length should be as small as possible in order to enhance machinability as well as surface finish. A feasible tool-length at each NC block can be obtained by checking interference between workpiece and tool components, usually when the tool-axis is not modified at this stage for most CAM systems. Then the minimum feasible tool-length for an NC file consisting of N blocks is the maximum of N tool-length values. However, it can be noted that slight modification of tool-axis at each block may reduce the minimum feasible tool-length in mold & die machining. This approach can effectively be applied in machining feature regions such as steep wall or deep cavity. It has been implemented and is used at a molding die manufacturing company in Korea.
