Clinical perfusion data on 16 cases of cardiopulmonary bypass using Sigmamotor pump and RyggKyvsgaard Oxygenator which performed at Seoul National University Hospital during the period of Aug. 1968 to Aug. 1970 was analized. AIl cases were hemodiluted and the perfusion was carried out under the normothermic condition. The age of the patients ranged between 6 and 43 years. The b:dy weight varied between 18.3 and 54.0 kg and the body surface area between 0.78 and 1. 59$M^2$. The priming solution was consiste:I with fresh ACD blood. Hartmann solution and Mannitol. The average amount of priming was approximately 2242 ml. The average hemodilution rate was 17%. The flow rate ranged from 1.7L to 3.5L/Min/$M^2$ and averaged 2.4L/Min/$M^2$ or 78mI/Min/kg. The duration of perfusion varied from 22 to 110 min with average of 56.9 minutes. Some hemodynamic responses were observed. The arterial pressure dropped immediately after the initiation of partial perfusion and was more marked after the total perfusion foIlowed by gradual increase to the safety level. The central venous pressure reflected the reduced blood volume especially in the cases of prolonged perfusion which lasted over 60 min. In most of the cases, red blood cell count decreased and white blood ceIl count increased after the perfusion. Hemoglobin level was decreased, averaging of 12.5mg%, Hct 3.3% and platelets count of 18% postoperatively. Plasma hemoglobin increased mildly, from pre-perfusion average value of 4. 06mg% to postperfusion value of 22.5mg%. Serum potassium was 4.4mEq/L pre-operatively and was decreased to 3.7mEq/L postoperatively. Five cases showed definite hypopotassemia immediately after the operation. Sodium and chloride decreased mildly. These electrolyte changes are thought to be related with hemodilution. diuretics and reduced blood volume during and after the perfusion. Arterial blood pH value revealed minimal to moderate elevation from preperfusion average value of 7.376 to 7.461 during perfusion and then 7.365 after perfusion. The pC02 and hicarbonate showed minimal to moderately lowered values. The total CO2 was decreased. Buffer base decreased during perfusion (Av. 42.6mEq/L) and further decreased after the perfusion (Av. 40.8mEq/L). These arterial blood acid base changes suggested that the metabolic acidosis was accompanied by respiratory alkalosis during and immediately after the perfusion. Authors belived that the acidosis could more effectively be corrected with the more additional dose of bicarbonate than we used by this study. The chest tune drainage during the first 24 hours following operation was 1158 ml in average. One case (Case No. 15) showd definite bleeding tendency and it was believed that the cause might be due to the defect of heparin and protamine titration. The average urinary out put during 24 hours post-perfusion was 1291ml. One case (Case No. ]) showed definite post perfusion oliguria. As conclusion hemodilution using fresh ACD blood. Hartmann and Mannitol solution added with Bivon and high flow rate unler normothermia. was thought to amelioratc the severity of mctabolic acidosis during and after perfusion with relatively satisfactory effect on the diuresis and bleeding tendency.
Hyperthermia can enhance the radiation effect as a synergistic reaction in combined X-ray irradiation and hyperthermia; hyperthermia sensitize radioresistant S-phase cells and inhibit cellular recovery from sublethal damage. We fabricated 100 watts, 2450 MHz microwave applicator for hyperthermia and planned the method and condition of heating and measured the temperature by using Agar phantom as a preliminary test. For biological examination, 102 rats were divided into 4 groups as hyperthermia, X-ray irradiation (6Gy-15Gy), combined X-ray and hyperthermia, and normal control groups. Microscopic examination of the rectum and bladder was done and the results were as followings: 1. The microwave generator with 100 watts, 2450MHz magnetron could be heating up to $40^{\circ}{\sim}50^{\circ}C$ for one hour in living tissue. 2. The thermal distribution in tissue equivalent phantom with microwave can be maintained at $40^{\circ}{\sim}44^{\circ}C$ in area of 3cm in depth and 2-10cm in diameter. 3. In Hyperthermia alone group, there was submucosal edema of the rectum but no histologic change in the urinary bladder was seen. 4. The minimal necrosis of the mucosa was appeared in the rectum and bladder after 15 days of 6 Gy and 8 Gy irradiation respectively. The minimal necrosis of the muscle layer of rectum and bladder was appeared after 15 days of 8Gy and 60days of 10Gy irradiation respectively. 5. In combined group of radiation and hyperthermia, thermal enhancement ratio (calculated at necrosis of mucosa and muscle layer) of rectum and bladder was 1.0, and it suggest that there is no change of tolerance dose of normal rectum and bladder.

Mastitis is an inflammatory condition of the mammary gland, most often caused by bacterial infections, resulting in significant economic losses to the dairy industry. Antimicrobial resistance has been of great concern because of the extensive clinical use of antibiotics. For this reason, the development of new compounds as an alternative treatment to bovine mastitis is needed. Bee venom has been widely used as an oriental treatment for several inflammatory diseases and bacterial infections. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of bee venom on bacteria isolated from bovine mastitis. A total of 107 isolates from bovine mastitic milk samples collected in 2019 and 2020 in Jeonbuk province. All bacterial isolates were tested for susceptibility to bee venom of the honey bee (Apis mellifera). In order to obtain comprehensive antibacterial activities of the bee venom, we measured the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the bee venom against bacterial strains. Bee venom showed significant inhibition of bacterial growth of Gram-negative bacteria Citrobacter spp., Escherchia coli, Klebsiella spp., Pseudomonas spp., Serratia spp. and Raoultella with MIC values of 96, 81, 72, 230, and 85 ㎍/mL, respectively, and Gram-positive bacterial Enterococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. with MIC values of 29, 21 and 16 ㎍/mL, respectively. The results indicated that the MIC values were different depending on the bacterial strains, and those of Gram-positive bacteria were lower than those of Gram-negative bacteria for bee venom. These findings suggested that bee venom could be an effective antimicrobial treatment for bovine mastitis; however, further research is necessary to evaluate the mechanism underlying the antimicrobial action, its effectiveness/safety in vivo and effective application for therapeutic use.

The highly efficient operation of induction motors has been studied in the past years. Among the many attempts made to obtain highly efficient operation, Maximum Torque Per Amp (MTPA) controls in induction motor drives were proposed. This method enables induction motor drives to operate very efficiently since it achieves the desired torque with the minimal stator current. This is because the alternate qd induction motor model (AQDM) is a highly accurate mathematical model to represent the dynamic characteristics of induction motors. However, it has been shown that the variation of the rotor resistance degrades the performance of the MTPA control significantly, thus leading to its failure to satisfy the maximum torque per amp condition. To take into consideration the mismatch between the actual value of the rotor resistance and its parameter value in the design of the control strategy, an adaptive MTPA control was proposed. In this work, this adaptive MTPA control is investigated in order to achieve the desired torque with the minimum stator current at multiple operating points. The experimental study showed that (i) the desired torque was accurately achieved even though there was a deviation of the order of 5% from the commanded torque value at a torque reference of 25 Nm (tracking performance), and (ii) the minimum stator current for the desired torque (maximum torque per amp condition) was consistently satisfied at multiple operating points, as the rotor temperature increased.
Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the changes in soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R) level in sera and urines of children with primary nephrotic syndrome, eliminating the confounding effects of age, proteinuria, and steroid treatment. Methods: Soluble IL-2R was measured by ELISA in sera and urines from patients with minimal change nephrotic syndrome or focal segmental glomerulosclerosis as well as from healthy controls. The serum levels and urinary sIL-2R/creatinine ratios were compared between control group and the 12 patient groups divided by their ages (0-1, 2-4, over 5 years), and presence or absence of proteinuria and/or steroid treatment (PU+Tx-, PU+Tx+, PU-Tx+, PU-Tx-). Results: Though the differences were not statistically significant probably because of the small numbers, serum sIL-2R levels seemed to be higher in younger age groups both in patients and control group. Nephrotic children did not show higher serum levels than normal children. Among the patients, proteinuric condition seemed to raise and steroid treatment tended to suppress the serum sIL-2R levels. Urinary sIL-2R/creatinine ratios were higher in younger age groups, more significantly in patients (P<0.001). Proteinuria and steroid treatment affected the urinary sIL-2R/creatinine ratios by the same way as the serum sIL-2R levels. Serum sIL-2R levels and urinary sIL-2R/creatinine ratios were not different between groups of different histologic findings or steroid responsiveness (P>0.05). Conclusion: Serum sIL-2R levels and the urinary sIL-2R/creatinine ratios were higher in younger age, and they were not higher in nephrotic patients compared to control group. The patients in relapse showed higher levels, while the levels were suppressed with steroid treatment. In proteinuric state, urinary sIL-2R/creatinine ratios reflected serum sIL-2R levels.

Background: Minimally invasive technique for various cardiac surgeries has become widely accepted since it has been proven to have distinct advantages for the patients. We describe here the results of our experiences of minimal incision in cardiac surgery. Material and Method: From February 1997 to November 1998, we successfully performed 31 cases of minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Male and female ratio was 17:14, and the patients age ranged from 1 to 75 years. A left parasternal incision was used in 9 patients with single vessel coronary heart disease. A direct coronary bypass grafting was done under the condition of the beating heart without cardiopulmonary bypass support(MIDCAB). Among these, one was a case of a reoperation 1 week after the first operation due to a kinked mammary artery graft. A right parasternal incision was used in one case of a redo mitral valve replacement. Mini-sternotomy was used in the remaining 21 patients. The procedures were mitral valve replacement and tricuspid annuloplasty in 6 patients, mitral valve replacement 5, double valve replacement 2, aortic valve replacement 1, removal of left atrial myxoma 1, closure of atrial septal defect 2, repair of ventricular septal defect 2, and primary closure of r ght ventricular stab wound 1. The initial 5 cases underwent a T-shaped mini-sternotomy, however, we adopted an arrow-shaped ministernotomy in the remaining cases because it provided better exposure of the aortic root and stability of the sternum after a sternal wiring. Result: The operation time, the cardiopulmonary bypass time, the aorta cross-clamping time, the mechanical ventilation time, the amount of chest tube drainage until POD#1, the chest tube indwelling time, and the duration of intensive care unit staying were in an acceptable range. There were two surgical mortalities. One was due to a rupture of the aorta cannulation site after double valve replacement on POD#1 in the mini-sternotomy case, and the other was due to a sudden ventricular arrhythmia after MIDCAB on POD#2 in the parasternal incision case. Postoperative complications were observed in 2 cases in which a cerebral embolism developed on POD#2 after a mini-sternotomy in mitral valve replacement and wound hematoma developed after a right parasternal incision in a single coronary bypass grafting. Neither mortality nor complication was directly related to the incision technique itself. Conclusion: Minimally invasive surgery using parasternal or mini-sternotomy incision can be used in cardiac surgeries since it is as safe as the standard full sternotomy incisions.

Approved and reconsideration results, while the largest number of monuments, rejected the result was the most frequent types of cultural property. and Building height, the highest was filed. Second, the results of deliberation voted two of the most frequently voted 36.5% to 48.7%, 14.6% is the reconsideration. The main reason for the decision passed Cultural minimal impact surrounding landscape, and the application of the buildings surrounding the site have voted in determining the existence of many affected. The main reason for rejection of the decision and voted to determine the cultural assets, compared to inhibition surrounding area of application architecture is characterized by large-scale. The main reason for reconsideration of the decision after a site survey was the most frequent reconsideration. Third, the primary consideration only if you applied a full half of 82 is 47.5% of cases. Consequences of the two manatgo voted the same, assuming the number of agenda items, the more the decision was rejected, and reconsideration. Fourth, the application area committee areas and cultural phenomenon in the conservation area be applied to each 33.7% and 20.2% was most common. Compared with rejection and reconsideration if the various sections of the application has passed. and When applied to the conservation area there were passed. Cultural committee rejected the decision, if applied to areas were most prevalent, reconsideration of the decision was similar in the two areas. Fifth, the size of the construction of buildings collapsed as a result, you voted in rejection have changed. and Voted to reject the results from the increase in building area when changing a lot of decisions have affected the results.
Clearance rate and feeding of surf clam, Mactra veneriformis were determined for 5 different water temperature regime (5, 10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$) and salinity regime (8, 14, 20, 26, 32 ‰) with small group ($86.62{\pm}7.10mm$ in shell length) and large group ($147.99{\pm}10.83mm$ in shell length). Clearance rate and feeding increased with water temperature up to $20^{\circ}C$, but rapidly decreased at $25^{\circ}C$. The minimal clearance rate and feedign was recorded at $5^{\circ}C$. surf clam showed low clearance rate and feeding at low salinity (below 20 ‰) and maximum values at high salinity (26-32 ‰).

There is a volume change between the sediments and the dredged materials because the dredged materials is fully disturbed by the dredger and settled in the basin from the stabilized condition. The volume of the dredged materials is also affected by the coagulants and flocculants (hereafter C & F) which was used to speed up the settling of the suspended solids. In this study, the volume change of the dredged materials is analysed in detail due to the injection amount of the C & F. The dredged materials were sampled in the lagoon located in the East coastal zone, and the volume change of the samples is quantitatively analysed by the laboratory test due to the change of the clay content and the amount of the C & F. The optimal amounts of the C & F is determined by showing the minimal volume change due to C & F injection. From the experimental results, the volume of the dredged materials is increased 1.68 times on an average and the volume change rate is slightly increased, i.e., negligible, as the clay content increase in the case of the C & F injection.
Optimal conditions for HA plasma spray-coating on Ti6Al4V alloy were investigated in order to obtain enhanced bone-bonding ability with Ti6Al4V alloy. The properties of plasma spray coated film were analyzed by SEM, XRD, surface roughness measurement, and adhesion strength test because the film's transformed phase and crystallinity were known to be influential to bone-bonding ability withTi6Al4V alloy. The films were formed by a plasma spray coating technique with various combinations of plasma power, spray distance, and auxiliary He gas pressure. The film properties were analyzed in order to determine the optimal spray coating parameters with which we will able to achieve enhanced bone-bonding ability with Ti6Al4V alloy. The most influential coating parameter was found to be the plasma spray distance to the specimen from the spray gun nozzle. Additionally, it was observed that a relatively higher film crystallinity can be obtained with lower auxiliary gas pressure. Moderate adhesion strength can be achievable at minimal plasma power. That is, adhesion strength is minimally dependent on the plasma power. The combination of shorter spray distance, lower auxiliary gas pressure, and moderate spray power can be recommended as the optimal spray conditions. In this study, optimal plasma spray coated films were formed with spray distance of 70 mm, plasma current of 800 A, and auxiliary gas pressure of 60 psi.
