A Pair Dipole Antenna with Double Tapered Microstrip Balun for Wireless Communications

  • In this paper a printed pair dipole antenna with double tapered microstrip balun for wireless communications is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a pair arm of different sizes that is branched microstrip line and microstrip line with the ground plane on opposite side of the dielectric substrate plane. The proposed antenna is matched between the ground plane to the microstrip line by double tapered microstrip balun. This antenna obtains multi-band radiation frequency band. The impedance bandwidths for a reflection coefficient of VSWR ≤ 2 are about 1.01 GHz (2.35~3.336 GHz), 1.56 GHz (4.7~6.26 GHz) and 1.15GHz (6.85~8.0[GHz]). Additionally, the measurement peak gain is about 3.6 dBi. The proposed antenna is able to support wireless communication applications.

CPW-fed to CPS Dipole Antenna of Microstrip Tapered Balun with Triangular Loop Director

  • A CPW-fed to CPS dipole antenna of triangular loop director by microstrip tapered balun is proposed for dual and wide band operations, in this paper. The proposed antenna is consisted of a CPW-fed to CPS transform, microstrip tapered balun element, CPS dipole driver and triangular loop director. A dual and wide bandwidth of the proposed dipole antenna is realized by introducing the triangular loop director and taper matching element. The operated frequency bandwidth is 1GHz (2.14~3.14 GHz) and 1.9 GHz (4.6~6.5 GHz) to return loss criterion of less than 10 dB. The measured return loss of the proposed antenna showed good results of the dual and wide band operating frequency and the radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is able to support WLAN wireless communications applications.

A wideband balun of tapered structure using planar microstrip

  • In this paper, a wideband balun of tapered structure using planar microstrip is desigde ad analyzed. The balun structure was fabricated on a Teflon substrate with a thickness of 0.8mm and relative dielectric constant ${\varepsilon}_r$ of 2.5. Two back-to back CPW-to-CPS transitions were simulated and optimized using HFSS. A movel plaar balun using tapered structure of microstip to CPW is suggested and designed. The measurement result, the bandwidth for a reflection coefficient better than -10dB of the balun is 2GHz to 8GHz. The planar balun can improved the performance of wide band spiral antenna.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented the Dual Band Dipole Antenna with Tapered Microstrip Balun for WLAN Access Point. Two dipole antennas with different resonant frequency and the antenna structure combined additional line were implemented for dual band performance. In order to feed the balun current, the tapered microstrip balun was used. Produced the Dual Band Antenna shows a special quality. The quality is that all VSWR is less than 1.5 in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands in 802.11 standards, and it profits not less than 1.7dBi having typical Dipole Antenna pattern the very "a form of 8"pattern and Omni-directional pattern.

Cavity-backed Two-arm Spiral Antenna with a Ring-shaped Absorber for Partial Discharge Diagnosis

  • A cavity-backed two-arm spiral antenna for partial discharge diagnosis is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a two-arm Archimedean spiral, a tapered microstrip balun as spiral antenna feed, and a ring-shaped absorber-loaded cavity. The Archimedean spiral antenna is designed for the operating frequency band of 0.3 GHz to 1.5 GHz and fed by the tapered microstrip balun. The cavity is utilized to transform the bidirectional beam into a unidirectional beam, thereby enhancing gain. The ring-shaped absorber is stacked in the cavity to reduce the reflected waves from the cavity wall. The proposed antenna is designed and simulated using CST Microwave Studio. A prototype of the proposed antenna is likewise fabricated and tested. The measured radiation patterns are directional to the positive z-axis, and the measured peak gain is 8.13 dBi at a frequency of 1.1 GHz.

원형 슬롯과 유전체 적층 구조를 적용한 광대역 소형 발룬 (Wideband and Compact Balun with Circular Slot and Stacked Structure)

  • 본 논문에서는 물리적으로 짧은 길이를 갖지만 발룬의 접지면에 원형 slot을 추가하여 최저동작주파수를 확장하고 유전체 적층구조 이용하여 평형급전특성을 개선한 소형 광대역 발룬을 설계하였다. 설계한 발룬은 반사손실 -10 dB 기준으로 1~7 GHz에서 동작하며 1 GHz 기준으로 전기적 길이는 $0.05{\lambda}$ 이다. 그리고 평형급전특성이 개선된 효과를 검증하기 위하여 제안한 발룬과 간단한 다이폴을 결합하여 방사패턴을 측정하여 패턴의 왜곡정도로 발룬의 성능을 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 밀리미터파 시스템에 응용이 가능한, 마이크로스트립으로 급전되는 초광대역 테이퍼 슬롯 안테나의 새로운 설계법을 제시하고 그 실험결과를 보여주고 있다. 초광대역 특성을 가지는 마이크로스트립-CPS 전이 구조 혹은 발룬을 적용하여 테이퍼 슬롯 안테나 고유의 초광대역 특성을 얻었고, 안테나와 발룬의 연결은 임피던스 정합의 방법을 이용함으로 테이퍼 슬롯 안테나 설계를 간단하게 하였다. 테이퍼 슬롯 안테나 설계에는 페르미-디락(Fermi-Dirac) 테이퍼 함수와 corrugation을 적용하였다. 제안된 안테나는 23 GHz에서 58 GHz까지의 초광대역 주파수 특성을 가졌으며, 12에서 14 dBi의 비교적 높고 평탄한 이득과 낮은 부엽 레벨을 가졌다. 또한, 4개의 소자로 이루어진 간단한 선형 배열 안테나를 통하여 광대역 위상 배열 및 밀리미터파 센서에 응용될 수 있음을 보였다.

부분방전 진단용 UHF cavity-backed 스파이럴 안테나 (UHF Cavity-backed Spiral Antenna for Partial Discharge Diagnosis)

  • 본 논문에서는 부분방전 진단용 UHF 광대역 cavity-backed 스파이럴 안테나를 제안하였다. 제안된 안테나는 두 개의 Archimedean 스파이럴 암 (arm) 패턴, 캐비티 (cavity), 그리고 급전용 tapered 발룬 (balun)으로 구성되어 있다. 제안된 스파이럴 안테나의 동작 대역은 0.3-1.5 GHz 이고, 두 개의 스파이럴 암은 마이크로스트립 tapered 발룬 구조를 통하여 급전된다. 후면에는 이득을 향상시키기 위하여 캐비티를 부착하였다. CST사의 Microwave Studio를 이용하여 제안된 안테나의 설계 및 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 또한 설계된 안테나의 제작 및 측정을 통하여 성능을 검증하였다. 제작된 안테나는 측정된 모든 주파수에서 +z축 방향으로 지향성이 나타났고, 최대이득은 9.92 dBi 이다.
