Centered on Kathleen Kye, a designer who conveyed messages on social issues through her dresses, and established her own identity, this study aimed to examine what theme, method of expression and inner meaning her 'statement' had, as a way of expressing a critical awareness. After reviewing discussions by Duggan G. G. as well as dictionary definitions, statement fashion design can be defined as a work or fashion shows containing a message of a designer who is free from a particular trend or consumerism in various social issues. Statement fashion designers give opposing messages on social issues through their fashion collections. As a result, research shows that contemporary statement fashion designers are expressing themes of a fashion systems, fetishism, body image, collision, environment, as well as the socially disadvantaged by appropriation, reuse, slogan, metaphorical pattern and performance. Satire, awakening, challenge and support can be derived from the inner meaning of contemporary statement fashion design. In terms of the theme, method of expression and inner meaning, this study showed that KYE collection of the designer Kathleen Kye expresses critical awareness on the modern society. Research findings reveal that KYE collection include the following themes: long-term youth unemployment, conflict collision in war or on the Internet, fetishism by youth in a get-rich-quick fever, environmental issue causing destruction of an ecosystem by decrease in bee population, school violence and the socially disadvantaged related to alienated immigrants. Also, as a method of expression themes, such as metaphorical patterns, were used. The patterns used images including a skeleton, gun, heart, rope, plaster, homeless box, bee, honeycomb, chain and a slot machine. On the other hand, the inner meaning of statement in KYE collection showed satire on social issues, awakening on social issues unrecognized by the masses, and support for the socially disadvantaged.

This study analyzed silhouette expressions in the fashion illustrations by theory based on results of studying the characteristics of the forms and meanings of the silhouette expressions in art historically. For the actual considering this study collected and categorized fashion illustrations from 1990 to the present limitedly, and clarified the meaning of the silhouette expressions. Those expressions in fashion illustrations were categorized to the 5 items; black & white silhouette, color silhoutte, pattern silhouette, paper silhouette, line silhouette. Silhouette expressions of the fashion illustrations were categorized to 3 items: metaphorical fantasy, essential minimization, anonymous representation.

본 연구는 iOS GUI 디자인의 변화에 함의된 어포던스의 변화와 이를 통한 어포던스 간의 관계를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 선행연구를 통해 다양한 어포던스 개념을 도출하고 연구에 사용될 6가지 어포던스(본능적, 행동적, 반성적, 명시적, 메타포적, 패턴 어포던스)를 선정하고 iOS의 GUI 디자인 변화를 어포던스 관점에서 고찰하여 다음과 같이 그 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, iOS GUI 디자인의 본능적 어포던스는 이미 충분한 반성적 어포던스를 형성하고 있어 이를 과감히 생략하거나 제거하고 있으며 이로 인해 보다 명확한 명시적 어포던스의 제공이 가능하다. 둘째, iOS의 행동적 어포던스와 패턴 어포던스는 사용 경험의 누적으로 인해 반성적 어포던스를 형성하고 있으며 이를 통해 새로운 패턴 어포던스를 형성하고 있으며 이는 또한 메타포적 어포던스의 기반 영역으로도 활용된다. 셋째, iOS의 플랫 디자인을 어포던스 관점에서 고찰해 본 결과, 본능적 어포던스의 감소로 인하여 시각적 표현 상의 제약이 줄어들게 되어 화면 공간의 여유, 컬러 변화의 자유, 명시적 어포던스의 제공 등이 가능하게 된 것도 그 원인 중 하나임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 본 연구에서는 본능적 어포던스가 사용경험 누적에 따라 반성적 어포던스를 형성하고 이는 메타포적 어포던스의 기반 영역으로 활용되며, 본능적 어포던스의 제거나 감소는 보다 명확한 명시적 어포던스를 제공하고 있으며 이를 통해 새로운 패턴 어포던스가 생성되는 어포던스 간의 상호작용에 의한 관계 변화 또한 고찰할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to show the analysis system and the expression which is applied to fashion illustration by three major components in visual sign, metaphor and metonymy. The results of this study were as follows : Firstly, metaphor in qualisign of syntactics was revealed as a color such as realistic description, a pattern such as clothing of figure. etc. Metonymy was revealed as a social and cultural background color, a concept pattern. etc. In sinsign of syntactics. metaphor was revealed as a human body, non-human body and metamorphosis human body and metonymy as a human body and non-human body. In legisign of syntactics, the metaphor by perspective was used for a fantasy of space. and the metonymy was revealed as a color perspective representation, etc. The degree of change of texture was revealed as a metaphor and metonymy of gradation. And conventional custom sign was almost revealed in metaphor. Secondly, semantics showed about fashion image as juxtaposition of two similar objects in metaphor and as real description and simplification in metonymy Alternative fashion image in semantics was presented as a object related to fashion image. Conventional symbolic sign was presented as a role to clarify a fashion message in metaphor. Thirdly, the metaphorical and metonymical expression in pragmatics were usually presented as drawing and painting.

본 연구의 목적은 일러스트레이션의 표현형식에 대한 어린이의 상상 활동 유형과 언어반응의 유형에서 상상적 반응의 차이를 연구, 분석함으로써 어린이의 꿈과 상상력을 증대시킬 수 있는 표현방법의 기초자료로 활용되는데 그 의미를 두었다. 연구대상은 6~7세 어린이 253명을 대상으로 하였으며, 2차에 걸쳐 실시한 실증조사에서 활용한 연구도구는 단순한 형태의 화면, 직접적, 사실적 표현의 화면, 단순, 생략된 형태의 화면, 간접적, 은유적 표현의 화면 등 4가지 유형으로 구분하였다. 연구결과 제시된 연구도구에서 상상 활동 유형 및 언어반응의 유형에서 다양성의 차이가 나타났다. 특히 단순, 생략된 형태의 화면 및 간접적, 은유적 표현의 화면이 단순한 형태의 화면 및 직접적, 사실적 표현의 화면에 비해 상상 활동 유형에서 구성적 상상, 창작적 상상반응이 높게 나타났으며, 언어반응의 유형에서 상상적 반응이 높게 나타나 어린이의 꿈과 환상을 자극하고 상상력을 높이는데 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다.

This study is intended to observe the meaning, aesthetic formative characteristics of the human body which is introduced and applied to the fashion design. The analysis of the modern fashion design describing the human body refers to the extracted fashion design which expresses the human body appearing in domestic & foreign fashion magazines as well as publications associated with it and published since 1990. The analysis of the way of expression, the image and the design elements in these fashion design works, has had to formative characteristics in each of the three parts. The pursuit of formative characteristics through simplifying the expression of the human body, uprising of anatomical expression, and metaphorical expression with the help of personification and objectification can be thought of as characteristics of expressing pattern. And the op-art, optical illusion by virtue of pointillism, the use of non-woven molding, and action painting technique can be described as expression tools to recognize the human body. Images are presented in the characteristics of being grotesque, humorous, erotic, futuristic and mysterious. The characteristics of designs are expressed in creative detail, trimming, pattern and accessory using the form of human body itself as an item of clothing tends to show the unity of human body and clothing. The human body in the modern era reflects the post human image as well as its meaning as a medium and tool. It is also perceived as a specific object to be self-conscious of in this reality with the loss of humanity, alienation and the confusion of identity. The analysis of the image and way of expression of human body in the fashion design, and the meaning of human body will play an important role of identifying tole viewpoint about human body as well as prospecting what the human being will be in the future.
