Nanopatterning of Self-assembled Transition Metal Nanostructures on Oxide Support for Nanocatalysts

  • Nanostructures, with a diversity of shapes, built on substrates have been developed within many research areas. Lithography is one powerful, but complex, technique to make structures at the nanometer scale, such as platinum nanowires for studying CO catalytic reactions [1], or aluminum nanodisks for studying the plasmon effect [2]. In this work, we approach a facile method to construct nanostructures using noble metals on a titania thin film by using self-assembled structures as a pattern. Here, a large-scale silica monolayer is transferred to the titania thin film substrates using a Langmuir-Blodgett trough, followed by the deposition of a thin transition metal layer. Owing to the hexagonal close-packed structure of the silica monolayer, we would obtain a metal nanostructure that includes separated metallic triangles (islands) after removing the patterning silica beads. This nanostructure can be employed to investigate the role of metal-oxide interfaces in CO catalytic reactions by changing the patterning silica particles with different sizes or by replacing the oxide support. The morphology and chemical composition of the structure can be characterized by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In addition, we modify these islands to a connected island structure by reducing the silica size of the patterning monolayer, which is utilized to generating hot electron flow based on the localized surface plasmon resonance effect of the metal nanostructures.

이종 금속간의 용착마모에 관한 연구 (A study on the depositional wear between different metals)

  • The wear becomes the most complicated cause of making various machineries short lives. In the studies by many scholors so far, the accurate and perfect methods to eliminate it completely are not found yet owing to many affected factors. On this view point of Depositional Wear, the wear test with seven different specimens from the part of frequent usage of which are carbon steel, nickel, copper, aluminum, zinc, lead and tin was attempted to make clear the relation between the wear of different metals and their melting point, crystal structure, sliding speed, load and lattice factors. The results of this study are summerized as follows; 1) Worn amount of each metal is maximum when each metal is same quality. 2) The easier becomes the the formation of solid solution in the course of friction proceeding, the more it results in worn amount of each metal. 3) The samer is each metal in crystal structure as well as lattice factor, the more it results in worn amount of each metal. These results might be of use in designing machineries, selecting materials and operating machineries.

  • Monodispersed porous NiO and $Co_3O_4$ microcapsules with a hollow core were synthesized using SBA-16 silica sol and PS as a hard template. The porous hollow microcapsules were characterized by XRD, TEM and $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis. After $H_2$ reduction of metal oxide microspheres, they were conducted as an active catalyst in the reduction of chiral butylronitrile and cyanobenzene. The mesoporous metals having a hollow structure showed a higher activity than a nonporous metal powder and an impregnated metal on the carbon support.

  • In this paper, a single phase driven piezoelectric motor design was presented for linear motion. Two metal/ceramic composite actuators, a piezoelectric ring which was bonded to a metal endcap from one side, were used as the active elements of this motor. The motor was composed of a piezoelectric ceramic, a metal ring which has 4 arms, and a guider. Motors with 30.0[mm] and 35.0[mm] diameter were studied by finite element analysis and experiments. As results, the maximum speed of motor was obtained at resonant frequency. When the applied voltage of the motor increased, the speed was increased. Also, bidirectional motion of the motor was achieved by combining two motors which have different resonant frequency.

금속배선 칩 집적공정을 포함하는 질화물 반도체 LED 광소자 특성 연구 (A Study on the III-nitride Light Emitting Diode with the Chip Integration by Metal Interconnection)

  • A blue light emitting diode with 8 periods InGaN/GaN multi-quantum well structure grown by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition was fabricated with the inclusion of the metal-interconnection process in order to integrate the chips for light lamp. The quantum well structure provides the blue light photoluminescence peaked at 479.2 nm at room temperature. As decreasing the temperature to 20 K, the main peak was shifted to 469.7 nm and a minor peak at 441.9 nm appeared indicating the quantum dot formation in quantum wells. The current-voltage measurement for the fabricated LED chips shows that the metal-interconnection provides good current path with ohmic resistance of 41 $\Omega$.

  • 본 논문에서는 이중 금속선으로 이루어진 다양한 곡선형 도파로를 고려하고 이 구조들에서 전파하는 모드의 특성을 수치해석적으로 분석하였다. 이중 금속선들 간의 간격과 내부 유전체의 굴절률 변화에 따라 곡선형 도파로의 최적 반경과 최소손실의 경향을 조사하였으며, 그 결과 이중 금속선 구조가 단일 금속선 구조보다 전파특성이 좋은 최적 구조가 존재함을 확인하였다.

  • We attempted to fabricate a dendrimer Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films containing 48 pyridinepropanol functional end group. As the pyridinepropanol functional group could form a complex structure with metal ions. In this study the samples for electrical measurement were fabricated to two types metal complexes with $Pt^{4+}$ ions by LB method. And we have investigated the surface activity at the air-water interface as well as the electrical properties for the monolayers of G4-48PyP dendrimer complex with metal ions($Pt^{4+}$ ions) by different method. In the surface pressure-area(${\pi}$-A) isotherms of the dendrimers, the stable condensed films formed at the air-water interface and the different method of metal complex showed the difference on molecular behavior. We have studied the electrical properties of the ultra thin dendrimer LB films investigated by the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of metal/dendrimer LB films/metal(MIM) structure. In conclusion, it is demonstrated that the metal ion around G4-48PyP dendrimer can contribute to make formation of network structure among dendrimers and it result from the change of electrical properties.

가솔린 자동차 터보차져용 WGV Head의 금속 분말 사출성형 해석 (Metal Injection Molding Analysis of WGV Head in a Turbo Charger of Gasoline Automobile)

  • The waste gate valve (WGV) for gasoline vehicles operate in a harsh high-temperature environment. Hence, WGVs are typically made of Inconel 713C, which is a type of Ni-based superalloy. Recently, the metal injection molding (MIM) process has attracted considerable attention for parts used under high-temperature conditions. In this study, an MIM analysis for the head and other parts of the WGV is conducted using a commercial CAE program Moldflow. Further, optimal manufacturing conditions are determined by analyzing flow characteristics at various injection times and locations. Moreover, to improve the accuracy of the analysis results, we compare the actual temperature of the mold during injection processing with that observed through the analysis. As the results, metal injection patterns of analysis are well in accord with these of short shot test. And the temperature variations of analysis is also very similar with those of feedstock when metal injection molding.
