Xanthine oxidase 활성 및 형전환에 미치는 구리이온의 영향 (Effect of Copper ion on Xanthine Oxidase Activity and Type Conversion)

  • Copper intoxication and disturbance of copper metabolism induced various oxygen-derived free radicals related damages. The effect of copper ion on xanthine oxidase activity and type conversion of the enzyme which is concerned to generation of reactive oxygen species, was investigated, It was observed that xanthine oxidase activity was increased by addition of copper ion in the reaction mixture in proportional to the concentration of the metal ion until $60\;{\mu}M$, while the enzyme activity was inhibited in higher concentration of copper treatment. On the other hand, xanthine dehydrogenase activity was inhibited by copper ion addition with concentration dependently. Preincubation of enzyme source with $30\;{\mu}M$ of copper ion, which concentration marked increased the xanthine oxidase activity, unchanged the enzyme activity and type conversion compare to control in vitro system. It was also observed that copper induced xanthine oxidase activity and the enzyme type conversion was protected by dithiothreitol and penicillamine. These results indicate that the increment of the type conversion of xanthine oxidase necessarilly need the presence of copper ion in enzyme assay system.

이온 이온주입한 p-type 4H-SiC에의 오믹 접촉 형성 (Formation of Ohmic Contacts on acceptor ion implanted 4H-SiC)

  • Ohmic contact characteristics of Al ion implanted n-type SiC wafer were investigated. Al ions implanted with high dose to obtain the final concentration of $5{\times}10^{19}/cm^3$, then annealed at high temperature. Firstly, B ion ion implanted p-well region were formed which is needed for fabrication of SiC devices such as DIMOSFET and un diode. Secondly, Al implanted high dose region for ohmic contact were formed. After ion implantation, the samples were annealed at high temperature up to $1600^{\circ}C\;and\;1700^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in order to activate the implanted ions electrically. Both the inear TLM and circular TLM method were used for characterization. Ni/Ti metal layer was used for contact metal which is widely used in fabrication of ohmic contacts for n-type SiC. The metal layer was deposited by using RF sputtering and rapid thermal annealed at $950^{\circ}C$ for 90sec. Good ohmic contact characteristics could be obtained regardless of measuring methods. The measured specific contact resistivity for the samples annealed at $1600^{\circ}C\;and\;1700^{\circ}C$ were $1.8{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm^2$, $5.6{\times}10^{-5}{\Omega}cm^2$, respectively. Using the same metal and same process of the ohmic contacts in n-type SiC, it is found possible to make a good ohmic contacts to p-type SiC. It is very helpful for fabricating a integrated SiC devices. In addition, we obtained that the ratio of the electrically activated ions to the implanted Al ions were 10% and 60% for the samples annealed at $1600^{\circ}C\;and\;1700^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 중금속 흡착을 위한 방사선 그라프트 중합법에 의한 이온교환막의 성능 향상을 위한 것이다. 그라프트 체인의 이온교환기에 의해 체인이 막의 pore를 방해하여 투과유속이 크게 저하되는 문제를 해결하고자 그라프트 체인과 체인사이를 N-ethyleneglycoldimethacrylate계 가교제를 첨가하여 투과유속이 저하되는 문제를 해결하고자 했다. 이때 사용된 가교제는 길이가 서로 다른 ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA)와 diethylene glycol dimethacrylate (DDMA)를 사용하였다. GMA 막에 가교제가 첨가된 이온교환막에 술폰산기를 첨가한 막을 이용하여 중금속 이온($Pb^{2+}$) 흡착을 하였다. 술폰산기 밀도가 1.40 mmol/g인 EDMA막은 13.82 mg/g을 흡착하였고, 술폰산기 밀도가 2.14 mmol/g인 DDMA막은 17.37 mg/g의 흡착량을 보였다.

Cryptand 22 합성수지에 의한 희토류 금속들의 흡착특성과 용리행동 (Adsorption Characteristic and Elution Behavior of Rare Earth Metals by Cryptand 22 Synthetic Resin)

  • Resins with cryptand 22 macrocyclic ligand attached to chloromethylated styrene-1,4-divinylbenzene by substitution reaction were prepared and the effect of pH, metal concentration and cross-linkage of the matrix on the adsorption for $UO_2^{2+}$, $Cd^{2+}$ and $Sm^{3+}$ was investigated. The metal ion was not adsorbed on the resins pH range below 3 but above pH 4 fast adsorption behavior was showed. The resin selectivity determined in ethanol matrix was in increasing order $UO_2^{2+}{\;}>Cd^{2+}{\;}Sm^{3+}$. In addition, these metal ion could be separated on the column packed with 1% crosslinked resin by pH 2.5 $HNO_3$ as an eluent.

Characterization of Functional Groups of Protonated Sargassum polycystum Biomass Capable of Binding Protons and Metal Ions

  • Biosorption technology is recognized as an economically feasible alternative for the removal and/or recovery of metal ions from industrial wastewater sources. However, the structure of biosorbents is quite complex when compared with synthetic ion-exchange resins, which makes it difficult to quantify the ion-binding sites. Accordingly, this report describes a well-defined method to characterize the pK values and numbers of biomass functional groups from potentiometric titration data. When the proposed method was applied to Sargassum polycystum biomass as a model biosorbent, it was found that the biomass contained three types of functional groups. In addition, the carboxyl group (pK=$3.7{\pm}0.09$) was found to be the major binding sites ($2.57{\pm}0.06 mmol/g$) for positively-charged heavy-metal ions.

Structure function relationships amongst the purple acid phosphatase family of binuclear metal-containing enzymes

  • The purple acid phosphatases comprise a family of binuclear metal-containing enzymes. The metal centre contains one ferric ion and one divalent metal ion. Spectroscopic studies of the monomeric, ${\sim}$36 kDa mammalian purple acid phosphatases reveal the presence of an Fe(III)Fe(II) centre in which the metals are weakly antiferromagnetically coupled, whereas the dimeric, ${\sim}$110 000 kDa plant enzymes contain either Fe(III)Zn(II) or Fe(III)Mn(II). The three dimensional structures of the red kidney bean and pig enzymes show very similar arrangements of the metal ligands but some significant differences beyond the immediate vicinity of the metals. In addition to the catalytic domain, the plant enzyme contains a second domain of unknown function. A search of sequence databases was undertaken using a sequence pattern which includes the conserved metal-binding residues in the plant and animal enzymes. The search revealed the presence in plants of a 'mammalian-type' low molecular weight purple acid phosphatase, a high molecular weight form in some fungi, and a homologue in some bacteria. The catalytic mechanism of the enzyme has been investigated with a view to understanding the marked difference in specificity between the Fe-Mn sweet potato enzyme, which exhibits highly efficient catalysis towards both activated and unactivated phosphate esters, and other PAPs, which hydrolyse only activated esters. Comparison of the active site structures of the enzymes reveal some interesting differences between them which may account for the difference. The implications fur understanding the physiological functions of the enzymes will be discussed.

유 가열 혼합육(계육, 돈육)의 휘발성 성분 및 각종 첨가물의 영향 (Effects of Various Additives on the Volatile Compounds of Cooked Oil with Mixture Meat(Chicken and Pork))

  • Effects of metal chelating agents and metal ions on the volatile substance of cooked oil with chicken and pork mixture meat were examined by chemical analysis and sensory test. The addition of Na-tripolyphosphate(Na-TPP) to chicken and pork mixture meat increased the amount of H2S among volatiles evolved during cooking but decreased that of volatile carbonyl compounds(VCC) This treatment enhanced meat flavor in cooked oil with chicken and pork mixture. It was recognized that the increase in Ha5 evolution was caused by the rise of pH value. On the contrary cupric ion produced a negative effect on the production of chicken and pork mixture meat flavor and this addition increased VCC and TBA value. Other metal chelating agents such as citric acid, phytic acid and EDTA, provided the same results as Na-TPP. It was supposed that these phenomena were attributable to the chelating action to metal prooxidant in mixture meat at could be concluded that a proper evolution of H2S and protection against lipid oxidation during cooking were important to produce an excellent chicken and pork mixture meat flavor.

  • Hydrogen adsorption mechanism onto the porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has been studied by density functional theory calculation. The selected functionals for the predict ion of interact ion energies between hydrogen and potential adsorption sites of MOF was utilized after the evaluation with the various functionals for interaction energy of $H_2C_6H_6$ model system the adsorption energy of hydrogen molecule into MOF was investigated with the consideration of the favorable adsorption sites and the orientations. We also calculated the second favorable adsorption sites by geometry optimization using every combination of two first absorbed hydrogen molecules. Based on the calculation of first and second adsorption sites and energies, the hydrogen adsorption into MOF follows a cooperative mechanism in which the initial metal sites initiate the propagation of the hydrogen adsorption on the whole frameworks. In addition, it was found that the interaction strength between the simple benzene ring with hydrogen is significantly reinforced when the benzene ring has been incorporated into the framework of MOFs.

리튬금속과 고체전해질의 계면 반응 (Interfacial Reaction between Li Metal and Solid Electrolyte in All-Solid-State Batteries)

  • Li-ion batteries have been gaining increasing importance, driven by the growing utilization of renewable energy and the expansion of electric vehicles. To meet market demands, it is essential to ensure high energy density and battery safety. All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) have attracted significant attention as a potential solution. Among the advantages, they operate with an ion-conductive solid electrolyte instead of a liquid electrolyte therefore significantly reducing the risk of fire. In addition, by using high-capacity alternative electrode materials, ASSBs offer a promising opportunity to enhance energy density, making them highly desirable in the automotive and secondary battery industries. In ASSBs, Li metal can be used as the anode, providing a high theoretical capacity (3860 mAh/g). However, challenges related to the high interfacial resistance between Li metal and solid electrolytes and those concerning material degradation during charge-discharge cycles need to be addressed for the successful commercialization of ASSBs. This review introduces and discusses the interfacial reactions between Li metal and solid electrolytes, along with research cases aiming to improve these interactions. Additionally, future development directions in this field are explored.
