The international COSPAS-SARSAT program is a satellite-based search and rescue distress alert detection and information distribution system and best known as the system that detects and locates emergency beacons activated by aircraft, ships and so on. However, the current message format of the system is not encrypted so that, if the rescue signal can be intercepted by the unintended receivers, the subsequent rescue activities can be handled in a hostile environment. So, this article concerns how to deal with the rescue signals in a secure way and proposes some adequate encryption methods and the corresponding key management.
This paper designs a software signal generator for the new GPS L2 civil signal. The CM/CL code and the message structure of L2CS described in GPS ICD PPIRN-200C-007 are used in designing the signal generator. The output of the GPS signal generator is designed as the sampled IF data with the sampling frequency 5.7MHz and stored in the binary data format. By analyzing both the spectrum characteristics of the output signal and the correlation properties of the CM/CL code, the validation of the designed GPS signal generator is shown. It should be mentioned that the modeling of the GPS satellite constellation and the error sources remains for implementing the software space segment of GPS.

Since SIP uses a text-based message format and is open to the public Internet, it provides a number of potential opportunities for Denial of Service (DoS) attacks in a similar manner to most Internet applications. In this paper, we propose an effective detection method for SIP flooding attacks in order to deal with the problems of conventional schemes. We derive the upper bound of the possible number of SIP messages, considering not only the network congestion status but also the different properties of individual SIP messages such as INVITE, BYE and CANCEL. The proposed method can be easily extended to detect flooding attacks by other SIP messages.
We are under development of a 3D PET scanner with depth of interaction (DOI) capable of high sensitivity and high resolution. In this scanner, a maximum data transfer rate of coincidence pair's event information is 10 Mcps and one event is a 64-bit data format. This maximum data transfer rate corresponds by 10 times a conventional PET scanner. A data acquisition system, which fulfills the specification of this scanner, is considered for parallel collection with banks including several coincidence units. Data transfer rate is improved by optimizing parameters of a message size, and so on.
In this paper, a new asymmetric public key cryptography based on the modified RSA algorithm is proposed by using logic-based optical processing. The proposed asymmetric public key algorithm is realized into an optical schematic, where AND, OR and XOR logic operations are implemented by using free space digital optics architecture. Schematically, the proposed optical configuration has an advantage of generating the public keys simultaneously. Another advantage is that the suggested optical setup can also be used for message encryption and decryption by simply replacing data inputs of SLMs in the optical configuration. The last merit is that the optical configuration has a 2-D array data format which can increase the key length easily. This can provide longer 2-D key length resulting in a higher security cryptosystem than the conventional 1-D key length cryptosystem. Results of numerical simulation and differential cryptanalysis are presented to verify that the proposed method shows the effectiveness in the optical asymmetric cryptographic system.
Load sharing is a critical resource in computer system. In sender-initiated load sharing algorithms, the sender continues to send unnecessary request messages for load transfer until a receiver is found while the system load is heavy. Meanwhile, in the receiver initiated load sharing algorithms, the receiver continues to send an unnecessary request message for load acquisition until a sender is found while the system load is light. These unnecessary request messages result in inefficient communications, low CPU utilization, and low system throughput in distributed systems. To solve these problems, we propose a genetic algorithm based approach for improved sender-initiated and receiver-initiated load sharing in distributed systems. And we expand this algorithm to an adaptive load sharing algorithm. Compared with the conventional sender-initiated and receiver-initiated algorithms, the proposed algorithm decreases the response time and task processing time.
