  • The navigation message is composed of the information contained in the message and the structure for transmitting this information. In order to design a navigation message, considerations in terms of message content and message structure must be elicited. For designing a Korea Positioning System (KPS) navigation message, this paper explains performance indicators in terms of message structure and message content. Most of the performance analysis of GNSS navigation messages already in operation was performed only for Time-to-first-fix-Data (TTFFD). However, in the navigation message, the message content is composed of Clock-Ephemeris Data (CED) and additional information. So, this paper proposes a new performance indicator R_(Non-CED) that can be analyzed from the viewpoint of receiving additional information along with an explanation of TTFFD focusing on the CED reception time. This paper analyze the performance in terms of message structure using these two performance indicators. The message structures used for analysis are the packetized message protocol like GPS CNAV and the packetized and fixed pattern message protocol like GPS CNAV-2. From the results, it is possible to proffer how KPS navigation messages can have better performance than GPS navigation messages. And, these two performance indicators, TTFFD and RNon-CED, can help to design the minimum TTFF required performance of KPS navigation messages.

  • Purpose With the development of Social Network Service(SNS) and mobile devices, many companies have been using the Facebook as a Word-of-Mouth(WOM) channel. This study examines the effects of psychological distance and message type on WOM using the Facebook's real messages. And the moderating effect of the message type on the relationship between psychological distance and WOM was also analyzed. Design/methodology/approach A content analysis was used as a research method. A total 7,483 messages were collected from 50 companies' Facebook Fanpage (based on the ranking of socialbakers.com) and content analysis was conducted using human coding. As the influencing variables, the message type and psychological distance and the number of 'Likes', 'Share', and 'Comment' were used as the dependent variable. The R3.4.4 was used to perform descriptive statistics, cross-tab analysis, and analysis of variance(ANOVA). Findings First, a larger proportion of Facebook messages have close psychological distance for all message types(information, advertisement, event, and customer relationship). Second, 'Like' and 'Comment' number were significantly higher in messages of close psychological distance. Third, the effects of psychological distance on 'Like', 'Share', and 'Comment' number were different according to message type. However, 'advertisement' message type had significantly more numbers for all WOMs('Like', 'Share', and 'Comment') in messages with close psychological distance.

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to analyze the correlation between Word-of-Mouth(WOM) message sender credibility and WOM effect and 2) to analyze the differences of WOM message sender creadibility and WOM effect in off-line and on-line WOM communication. The messages were created as a form of scenario for this study. Respondents were asked to evaluate the message sender credibility and predict WOM behaviors after reading given scenario. The questionnaires were distributed to 200 customers and a total of 175 questionnaires were used for analysis(87.5%). The statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS Win(12.0) for descriptive analysis, paired t-test, factor analysis, correlation analysis. The positive off-line WOM message sender was considered as more credible(p<.001) than on-line WOM message sender. 'Message sender credibility' is correlated with 'attitude formation' in both channels, but 'reliable' factor of 'credibility' variable is not significantly correlated with 'attitude change'.

Permission marketing requires voluntary customer approval for receiving commercial messages such as cross-selling and upselling. Therefore, it is necessary for the business to induce the customer's acceptance. The purpose of this study is to examine which type of different messages can affect higher in consumer persuasion. Thus, we investigated the impact of descriptive norm message on intention of reception in an online store context, and its interaction with chronic regulatory focus. Research design, data, and methodology - This study hypothesized that the descriptive norm message would affect positive influences to consumers' intension of reception. Specially, this study inquired into whether the interaction effect between descriptive norm and regulatory focus. To verify the hypothesis, we conducted 2 × 2 between-subject factorial design with message type (general message and descriptive norm message) and regulatory focus(promotion focus and prevention focus) as independent variables. Participants of the experiment were assigned to one of 2 kind experimental situations randomly according to characteristics of message type. A total of 131 participants (descriptive norm message: 65, general message: 66) responded for this study. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and two-way ANOVA. Result - The results of the study are as follows. First, we found main effects of the descriptive norm message. The intention of reception were significantly higher in the descriptive norm message rather than general message as in previous researches. Second, interaction effect between the descriptive norm message and regulatory focus was significant. The prevention focus (vs. promotion focus) were hight in a positive behavior intention when the descriptive norm message was given. • This research aims to examine the predictive power of multiple online stock message boards, namely, NAVER Finance and PAXNET, which are the most popular stock message boards in South Korea, in stock market activities. If predictive power exists, we then compare the predictive power of multiple online stock message boards. To accomplish the research purpose, we constructed a panel data set with close price, volatility, Spell out acronyms at first mention.PER, and number of posts in 40 companies in three months, and conducted a panel vector auto-regression analysis. The analysis results showed that the number of posts could predict stock market activities. In NAVER Finance, previous number of posts positively influenced volatility on the day. In PAXNET, previous number of posts positively influenced close price, volatility, and PER on the day. Second, we confirmed a difference in the prediction power for stock market activities between multiple online stock message boards. This research is limited by the fact that it only considered 40 companies and three stock market activities. Nevertheless, we found correlation between online stock message board and stock market activities and provided practical implications. We suggest that investors need to focus on specific online message boards to find interesting stock market activities.

  • From 2009, the market of smart devices has been rapidly increasing. These devices provide various services to users. The cloud messaging service, especially, is applied to many various services, and sends messages asynchronously. In the cloud messaging service, there are two methods for message transmission, message transmission based on an IP address and a publish/subscribe technique. Each technique uses basic messages in order to send messages to mobile devices. In this paper, the hybrid message transmission, based on user-customized analysis to reduce basic messages, is proposed. The hybrid message transmission uses Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and K-means algorithms for user-customized analysis, and determines the message transmission techniques in each timeslot.
