In this work, mesoporous carbons (CMK-3) were prepared by a conventional templating method using mesoporous silica (SBA-15) for using catalyst supports in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The CMK-3 were chemically activated to obtain high surface area and small pore diameter with different potassium hydroxide (KOH) amounts, i.e., 0, 1, 3, and 4 g as an activating agent. And then Pt-Ru was deposited onto activated CMK-3 (K-CMK-3) by a chemical reduction method. The characteristics of Pt-Ru catalysts deposited onto K-CMK-3 were determined by surface area and pore size analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and inductive coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The electrochemical properties of Pt-Ru/K-CMK-3 catalysts were also analyzed by cyclic voltammetry (CV). From the results, the K3g-CMK-3 carbon supports activated with 3 g KOH showed the highest specific surface areas. In addition, the K3g-CMK-3 led to uniform dispersion of Pt-Ru onto K-CMK-3, resulted in the enhancement of elelctro-catalystic activity of Pt-Ru catalysts.
A functionalization of mesoporous materials with organosilane was carried out via a post-synthesis grafting method and $(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$/methylaluminoxane (MAO) as subsequently immobilized on the functionalized mesoporous materials for ethylene polymerization. Organosilanes having amine, cyano or imidazoline group such as $N$-[(3-trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine (2NS), 4-(triethoxysilyl)butyronitrile (1NCy), 1-(3-triethoxysilylpropyl)-2-imidazoline (2NIm) were used for the surface functionalization of mesoporous materials. In the SBA-15/2NS/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ catalyst preparation, the amount of MAO in feed increased with an decrease in the Zr content of the supported catalyst, and Al content in the supported catalyst increased. The ethylene homopolymerization activity of SBA-15/2NS/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ dramatically increased as the amount of MAO in feed increased. Furthermore, when the immobilization time was 6 hrs, SBA-15/2NS/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ showed the highest activity. The activities of supported 2NS-, 1NCy-, 2NIm-functionalized catalysts decreased in the following order, SBA-15/2NS/ > SBA-15/2NIm/ > SBA-15/1NCy/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$. 2NS and 2NIm which have two amine groups per silane molecule were shown to interact with $(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ strongly compared to 1NCy which has one amine group. Thus, the activities increased with an increase in the nitrogen and the Zr content of the supported catalysts.

There has been numerous reports for the synthesis of mesoporous $TiO_2$ thin films due to not only the high surface area and regular mesoscale pores but also wide band gap and photo activity. However, the synthesis has been restricted by the limited reproducibility mainly due to the extraordinarily fast hydrolysis and condensation rate of titania precursors. In this report, molar composition of reaction batch (HCl/Ti and Ti/P123) and exterior condition (humidity and temperature) during coating and anealing process. Thereafter, the mesoporous $TiO_2$ thin films were characterized by XRD and TEM

Mesoporous silicate materials have been used as adsorbents due to the advantage of high specific surface area and regular mesopores. In this study, conventional mesoporous silicates (MCM-41, and SBA-15) were utilized as adsorbents for gaseous benzene, one of volatile organic compounds. In the results of the breakthrough curves of gaseous benzene, SBA-15 showed a higher benzene adsorption capacity in adsorption condition of this study. Especially, compared to benzene adsorption of zeolite X, that of SBA-15 was higher by a factor of 2.7. With increasing adsorption temperature, adsorption capacity for benzene of SBA-15 was decreased rapidly. This indicates that benzene adsorbed weakly on SBA-15.

In this study we synthesized mesoporous carbon supported CuO by using mesoporous silica i.e. SBA-15 as the template and cupric nitrate trihydrate ($Cu(NO_3)_23H_2O$)as copper source. The porous CuO was characterized with XRD, TGA, SEM and BET. The result reveals porous CuO has good crystal structure with uniform size of spherical crystal particles. The surface are a ($S_{BET}$) of porous CuO was found to be $153.46m^2g^{-1}$ with a total pore volume ($V_p$)of$0.1516cm^3g^{-1}$ and average pore size of 3.9 nm which was much higher than that of commercial CuO ($S_{BET}$, $7.6m^2g^{-1}$; $V_p$, $0.01cm^3g^{-1}$). The obtained porous CuO was studied for adsorption of $CO_2$and the maximum $CO_2$ adsorption capacity was found to be 67.5 mg/g of the sorbent at $25^{\circ}C$.
Periodic mesoporous organosilicas (PMO) were synthesized using bis(triethoxy silyl) ethane (BTEE) as the precursor and dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(DTMA), cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTMA), and octadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(ODTMA) as the templating agents. The surface area and pore volume of PMO decrease with the increasing of chain length of templating agents. However, the chain length of templating agents almost has no effect on the pore diameter of PMO. From the XRD and the DSC experiments, we found that the chain length of surfactants using as the templating agents has an effect on the melting transition of polyethylene. But it has no effect on the melting transition of poly(ethylene oxide). The results of TGA prove that the thermal decomposition temperature of polymer which was penetrated into PMO was increased.
Postsurgical infections are caused by implant-related pathogenic microorganisms that lead to graft rejection. Hence, an intrinsically antibacterial material is required to produce a biocompatible biomaterial with osteogenic properties that could address this major issue. Hence, this current research aims to make strontium-doped hydroxyapatite nanorods (SrHANRs) via an ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA)-enable microwave mediated method using Anodontia alba seashells for biomedical applications. This investigation also perceives that EDTA acts as a soft template to accomplish Sr-doping and mesoporous structures in pure hydroxyapatite nanorods (HANRs). The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis reveals the crystalline and mesoporous structures, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) indicates the surface area of all the samples, including pure HANRs and doped HANRs. In addition, the biocidal ability was tested using various implant-related infectious bacteria pathogens, and it was discovered that Sr-doped HANRs have excellent biocidal properties. Furthermore, toxicity evaluation using zebrafish reports the non-toxic nature of the produced HANRs. Incorporating Sr2+ ions into the HAp lattice would enhance biocompatibility, biocidal activity, and osteoconductive properties. As a result, the biocompatible HANRs materials synthesized with Sr-dopants may be effective in bone regeneration and antibacterial in-built implant applications.
In this study, highly monodispersed porous carbon microcapsules with a hollow core were synthesized using polystyrene (PS) beads as a hard template. The surface of PS was first modified with polyvinylpyrollidone (PVP) for the easy attachment of inorganic silica sol. After coating the surface of PVP modified PS microspheres with SBA-16 sol, the carbon microcapsules with a hollow macroporous core were fabricated through reverse replication method by filling carbon sources in the mesopores of silica mold. The hollow carbons having a mesoporous shell structure and narrow particle size distribution could be obtained after the carbonization of carbon source and the dissolution of silica mold by HF solution. The mesoporous characteristics and electrochemical properties of hollow carbon microcapsules were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis and cyclic voltammetry. They showed the high electric conductivity and capability for use as efficient electro-materials such as a supercapacitor.
In this work, we prepared the Ni-loaded porous SBA-15 (SBA-15) by a depositionprecipitation (D-P) method, in order to enhance the hydrogen storage capacity. The structure and morphology of the Ni/SBA-15 were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM). The results showed that, at the Ni loading used at the DP times in the range of 0-120 min, SBA-15 preserved the well-ordered hexagonal porous arrangement. The textural properties of the Ni/SBA-15 were analyzed using N2 adsorption isotherms at 77 K. Specific surface area and mesopore volume of the samples were determined from the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation and Barrett-Joiner-Halenda (BJH) method, respectively. The hydrogen storage capacity of the Ni/SBA-15 was evaluated at 298 K/10 MPa. The hydrogen storage capacity of the Ni/SBA-15 was increased in accordance with Ni content. Consequently, it was found that the presence of Ni on mesoporous SBA-15 created hydrogen-favorable sites which enhanced the hydrogen storage capacity by spillover effect.
Post-synthesis is used to synthesize organic hybrid inorganic mesoporous sieves. In this method, the activity and structure of the base sieve are crucial to obtain the definable hybrid materials. The chemical and physical properties of the base can be largely changed either by the final step of its synthesizing processes, by template removal which is accomplished with the oxidative thermal decomposition (burning) method or by solvent extraction method. In this paper we compared two methods for the post-synthesis of organic hybrid MCM-48. When the template was extracted with HCl/alcohol mixture, the final product showed larger pore size, larger pore volume and better crystallinity compared to the case of the thermal decomposition. The reactivity of the surface silanol group of template free MCM-48 was also checked with an alkylsilylation reagent $CH_2=CHSi(OC_2H_5)_3$. Raman and $^{29}Si$ NMR spectra of MCM-48 in the test reaction indicated that more of the organic group was grafted to the surface of the sample after the template was removed with the solvent extraction method. Direct synthesis of vinyl-MCM-48 was also investigated and its characteristics were compared with the case of post-synthesis. From the results, it was suggested that the structure and chemical reactivity can be maintained in the solvent extraction method and that organic grafting after the solvent extraction can be a good candidate to synthesize a definable hybrid porous material.
