  • The purpose of this paper is to explain techniques achieved while developing a transient stability program which is suitable to Korean power system. It concentrates on the development of a synchronous machine model, exciter models and turbine-governor models used in large-scale power system stability analysis. These proposed models enhance the performance of the developing program. This developing program has been tested with the KEPCO system, and the simulation results obtained from the program are compared to those of commercial programs.

건설업종 신용평점 모형의 개발과 검증 (The Developments of changes in shareholders wealth around merger announcement.)

  • 본 연구에서는 건설업종에 특화된 신용평가 모형을 개발하여 건설업종에 대한 부도 예측력를 제고하고자 하였다. 건설업은 여타 업종과는 다른 재무적 특성을 지니고 있다. 특히, 재무적 안정성이 취약하고 자산의 대부분이 매출채권, 재고자산으로 구성되어 유동성이 극히 낮은 실정이다. 본 연구는 이러한 건설업종의 특성을 충분히 감안한 신용평가 모형을 개발하고자 한것이다. 신용평가 모형 중 그 현실적 유용성이 높아 많이 이용되어 오던 신용평점 모형을 개발하였다. 총 2,475개 건설업체를 대상으로 모형구조 및 각종 계량지표 및 비계량지표에 대한 분석을 주로 평균차이 검증과 로짓분석에 의거 선정하였다. 그 결과 새로운 신용평점 모형은 매출액 경상이익률, 총 현금흐름 대 차입금 비율 등 9개의 재무지표와 5분류의 비재무지표로 구성되었다. 이 모형을 기존의 신용평점모형과 비교한 결과 신규모형의 변별력이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구가 제시한 신용평점모형과 그 개발 방법이 향후 금융기관들의 부실을 줄이고 결과적으로 수익성을 개선하는데 일조하리라 기대된다.

금융기관 합병 공시효과 (The Effects of Merger Announcements in Financial Institutions)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 금융기관들을 대상으로 합병공시 전 후 합병금융기관과 피합병금융기관의 주주부 변화유무와 변화차이 원인에 관하여 분석하였다. 분석의 결과 합병금융기관은 표본 전체에서 누적기간 (-30, 0)과 (-10, +1) 동안 평균적으로 정(+)의 누적평균초과수익률을 얻었고 통계적 유의성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 우리나라 합병금융기관에서 합병공시 전 후에 주주부를 증가시킨다는 가설과 일치하는 것이다. 업종별 구분에서는 합병과 피합병금융기관 모두에서 리스와 종합금융회사가 평균적으로 은행이나 증권회사보다 매우 높은 초과수익률을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 개별적으로 대부분의 합병금융기관에서는 정(+)의 초과수익률을 얻었으나 국민은행, 한일리스, LG증권에서는 부(-)의 초과수익률을 얻었고, 피합병금융기관에서는 한일은행, 한외종합금융, 한국기술금융에서 정(+)의 초과수익률을 얻었으나 나머지 금융기관에서는 부(-)의 초과수익률을 얻는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 규칙 기반 접근 제어가 신분 기반 접근 제어의 완전한 대체 방법이 아니듯이 직무 기반 접근 제어도 신분 기반 접근 제어와 규칙 기반 접근 제어의 병합이 아닌 상호 보완적인 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 접근 제어 메커니즘을 통합하여 보안성 무결성 및 흐름 제어 보안 기능을 제공하며 직무 중심 조직의 접근 제어 요구를 용이하게 수용할 수 있는 새로운 방식의 통합 접근 제어를 위한 시뮬레이션 모델을 설계하여 이를 실제의 응용 시스템에 적용할 수 있도록 한다.

Two Varieties of Subject Scrambling in FNQ-constructions

  • In the traditional Locality approach to floating numeral quantifiers in Korean and Japanese, two subject positions have been identified for external merge, one in Spec, vP and the other in Spec, TP (Saito 1985, Miyagawa 1989, 2013, Miyagawa and Arikawa 2007, etc.). In this paper, I show that the two external merger positions of the subject are unnecessary in the grammar of Korean and Japanese. Rather, by accepting the minimalist assumption of the VP-Internal Subject Hypothesis (Kitagawa 1986, Sportiche 1988, Koopman and Sportiche 1991), we are better able to explain a variety of bewildering phenomena that arise in scrambling contexts of FNQ-constructions.

Nitrogen self-enrichment in the starburst galaxies under the metal poor environments

  • We present elemental abundances of 412 blue compact dwarf galaxies (BCDs) at z=0.2~0.5 using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) DR7. The gas-phase nitrogen to oxygen abundance ratios (N/O) of sample galaxies increase as the oxygen to hydrogen abundance ratios (O/H) decrease. This indicates that the nitrogen is more enriched than the oxygen. We found that there is a noticeable distinction between the merger candidates and the isolated galaxies. Merging candidates show more enrichment of nitrogen abundance compared to isolated galaxies. On the other hand, neon and oxygen abundances for merging candidates are slightly lower than the isolated systems. We discuss the main cause of these trends with internal mixing and mass loss by fast rotation of young massive stars. We also discuss the environmental effect to the relation between specific star formation rate and galaxy mass.

Shock Acceleration Model for Giant Radio Relics

  • Although most of observed properties of giant radio relics detected in the outskirts of galaxy clusters could be explained by relativistic electrons accelerated at merger-driven shocks, a few significant puzzles remain. In some relics the shock Mach number inferred from X-ray observations is smaller than that estimated from radio spectral index. Such a discrepancy could be understood, if either the shock Mach number is nder-estimated in X-ray observation due to projection effects, or if pre-existing electrons with a flat spectrum are re-accelerated by a weak shock, retaining the flat spectral form. In this study, we explore these two scenarios by comparing the results of shock acceleration simulations with observed features of the so-called Toothbrush relic in the merging cluster 1RXS J060303.3. We find that both models could reproduce reasonably well the observed radio flux and spectral index profiles and the integrated radio spectrum. Either way, the broad transverse relic profile requires additional post shock electron acceleration by downstream turbulence.

Star Formation of Merging Disk Galaxies with AGN Feedback Effects

  • Using numerical hydrodynamics code RAMSES, we perform idealized galaxy merger simulations and study the star formation of merging disk galaxies. In our simulations, we consider the active galactic nucleus (AGN) feedback effect. In order to investigate the star formation influenced by AGN, we run ~60 simulations with various initial conditions. We confirm that star formation is more efficiently suppressed in merging galaxies than in isolated galaxies. In the mergers, AGN effect is more significant when the masses of two galaxies are similar. Furthermore, we find that bulge fraction does not affect the star formation when the AGN effect is considered. We discuss the implications on semi-analytic galaxy formation models and the limitation of the current AGN prescriptions.

Black Hole Binaries Dynamically Formed in Globular Clusters

  • We investigate properties of black hole (BH) binaries formed in globular clusters, by using direct N-body simulations. Comparing with previous studies which usually considered single BH masses, our models consist of two-component BH masses, or continuous BH mass function with single mass ordinary cluster stars. During the early stage of dynamical evolution, initially distributed BHs are move to the cluster center by dynamical friction, then BH-BH binaries start to be formed, and eventually be ejected from the cluster due to three body interaction. Finally we find the formation efficiency of high mass BHs are alwats larger than that of lower mass BHs, implying that a BH mass spectrum expected from GW observation should be biased to high mass. In addition, mass ratios of BHs in binaries prefer similar masses (ratio~1), while the most extreme case is less than 3. Expected merger rate from our models is about 7 BH-BH mergers per $Mpc^3$ per yr.

Uncovering galaxy individuality with multiplexed integral field spectroscopy.

  • There is a rich diversity of galaxy properties and we are starting to understand some of the drivers for differences between galaxies. Much progress has been has been made in the last decade, thanks in large part to massively multiplexed surveys using single fibres, but we still lack a complete picture of how galaxies are built. I will discuss how large-scale integral field surveys can address a number of the outstanding questions in the field, starting with the current SAMI Galaxy Survey, and then looking towards the Hector instrument that will carry out integral field surveys of order 50,000-100,000 galaxies. With SAMI we can start to address how mass and environment influence galaxy structure and history, and I will discuss examples such as the environmental quenching of star formation and the distribution of angular momentum. With larger samples afforded by Hector we can go beyond simply mass and environment, to separate galaxies based on their merger or accretion history, as well as their larger-scale environment.
