There are several local volunteers, which are local hospitals, a college, a christian association, a catholic association, a drivers association and a disabled association. The volunteer groups give physical and mental support to the clients. In management, this health center has three evaluation methods. One is done by local government, one is done by health center itself, and the other is done by clients with questionair. But the evaluation tools are deferent between agency. Industry indicators were divided by the 9th Korean Standard Industrial Classification. Age-adjusted prevalence of smoking was calculated. Prevalence ratios(PR) and differences(PD) were estimated using log-binomial regression analysis. Results: Age-adjusted prevalence of smoking decreased between 1992 and 2006, specially the smoking prevalence of regular employees decreased most. PD in age-adjusted prevalence of smoking were the biggest between regular and daily employees. PR of the temporary employees', daily employees', self-employed persons' in order was wider than that of regular employees. PR increased significantly increased between 1999 and 2006 for those in manufacturing, construction, wholesale & retail trade, service industries. Increases in PR(regular/irregular) for women in service industry were statistically significant. Conclusions: Despite reducing overall cigarette smoking rates in males, the smoking rate was not reduced equally by industry classification and employment type in both genders. More adjustable antismoking policies and consideration of employment type are requested to reduce inequalities in smoking.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the determinant factors of the personal relationships among university students. We collected data for 41 days, from 1 November to 10 December of, 2013. This study surveyed 221 university students at a university located in the metropolitan city of Busan. The findings were as follows. There were statistically significant differences in the relationships according to sex, smoking, drinking, and health status(p<0.05). Males showed this better than female. Smokers(drinkers) showed a greater difference than non-smokers(non-drinkers). Greater subjective health status was associated with more personal relationships. Students who managed their mental health and stress showed good personal relationships. From a multiple regression analysis, it was found that the determining factors as regards personal relationships were health status, current smoker, management of health, and gender health, all of which showed statistically significant differences(p<0.05). As a result, we suggest that we must provide information about health-promoting lifestyles at university to enhance personal relationships.

  • To study the factors related to self-efficacy and health promotion behavior of the late school-aged children, the questionnaire survey was conducted on 285 students from elementary schools in Daegu metropolitan city from September 3 to september 14, 2012. Correlation analysis showed that there was significantly normal correlation between self-efficacy and health promotion behavior of elementary school students and in correlation according to each sub-area, exercise area showed the highest correlation, followed by stress area, self-realization area, personal relations area, eating habits area, and responsibility for health area. It is considered that the level of health promotion behavior in the areas of low stress management and responsibility for health found in the results of the study will be able to be higher if schools and homes prepare so as to enhance the students' belief in health promotion behavior with mental stability by developing the programs for the improvement of eating habits in the group with low self-efficacy and especially, recognizing the necessity of stress management.

  • Although stress has been implicated to be a risk factor that can threaten physical and mental health, there have been no sufficient studies that analyze the different levels of stress among employees working in the different levels of the hospitals. We aim to identify the general characteristics of hospitals at different levels, to compare the stress levels among customer service representatives working in the tertiary care hospitals as well as acute general hospitals. In addition, we also wanted to analyze the relationship between the types of hospitals and the stress level. The work stress was measured using the Korean Occupational Stress scale. Study subjects' demographic characteristics and lifestyle factors were analyzed using analysis of frequency and multiple regression analysis. Our study revealed that the levels of medical facility were significantly associated with the levels of job stress(P=0.043), and the stress levels of employees working in the acute general hospital's medical facilities were higher than those who were working in tertiary care facilities. We also found that those with higher depression level tended to have higher job stress (P<0.001). Therefore, it is urgent to implement some kind of job stress interventions, especially in the acute general hospital's medical facilities. Moreover, further studies including social and policy research are necessary in order to analyze the overall impact of stress on physical and mental health and to reduce health inequalities among healthcare workers.
