Behavior and Resistance to the Reflection Crack of Composite Pavement with Waterproof Membrane (접착식 방수층을 적용한 합성단면포장의 반사균열 저항특성 분석 연구)

  • As old concrete pavements of over 20years in age are increasing in expressways, the repair and rehabilitation of concrete pavement have become an important issue. Although asphalt overlay is widely used as an alternative to rehabilitate the old concrete pavement, problems due to infiltrated water such as reflection crack and pothole are imposing a very serious threat to its performance. This study proposes waterproof membrane as a solution to minimize the damage due to reflection crack and infiltrated water, and accelerated pavement testing was carried out for the performance comparison of composite pavement with waterproof membrane and ordinary tack coating. The experiment used water spraying to simulate rainfall, and the behavior and moisture resistance characteristics of overlay pavement were analyzed. The experimental result indicated that the strain pattern of waterproof membrane section differed from ordinary tack coating section because waterproof membrane caused the asphalt pavement and concrete pavement to move together. Additionally, since waterproof membrane minimized the infiltration of water and delayed the occurrence of reflection crack by about 70% in comparison to ordinary tack coating method. Moreover, the damage due to infiltrated water also decreased.

Analyses on Environment-friendliness of Waterproof Materials Based on Fish Toxicity Test (어독성 실험에 따른 방수재 친환경 특성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of environment-friendliness of waterproof materials based on comprehensive experiments on waterproofness in terms of coefficients of permeability, harmfulness of waterproof materials and fish toxicity of Oryzias latipes mortality to verify eco-toxicity of each method of construction and waterproof material, which are to be applied by taking eco-toxicity into account when building ecological flows in upper areas on natural and artificial grounds. As a result, the following conclusions have been reached in this study: 1. In regard of the harmfulness analyzed, each material showed a different result of analytical value in each lab tank. Compared to input water, pH, COD, SS, T-P, and T-N values increased a little, but DO value decreased. The value of turbidity analyzed independent of the water quality standard of aquatic ecosystem set forth by the Ministry of Environment increased a little compared to the value in input water. 2. In the experiment of fish toxicity, compacted quicklime, cement fluid waterproof material, cement mortar waterproof material and bentonite powder were found to have 100% of fish mortality, respectively, and membrane waterproof material showed 83.3% of mortality, indicating strong fish toxicity. Improved asphalt sheet (63.3%) and synthetic rubber sheet (53.3%) were analyzed to have medium fish toxicity, while bentonite sheet (6.7%), Hwang-toh (6.7%) and clay (3.3%) showed relatively lower mortality and fish toxicity. 3. Regarding the analysis on waterproofness in terms of the coefficient of permeability of each waterproof material, improved asphalt sheet, synthetic rubber sheet, membrane waterproof material, cement fluid and mortar waterproof material and bentonite sheet were found impervious in case no leakage takes place in construction. Bentonite powder was found practically impervious based on the analytical results from the experiment done in compliance with weight ratios. So were the clay and Hwang-toh from the experimental results. To sum up such results as found in the experiment mentioned so far, the values of harmfulness and waterproofness analyzed were different in each lab tank, but there was absolutely little correlation with the mortality gained from the experiment on fish toxicity. In the experiment of fish toxicity, environment-friendly waterproof materials were analyzed, and it was found that clay, Hwang-toh and bentonite sheet are highly environment-friendly. In contrast, synthetic rubber and improved asphalt sheets were found to have medium-level environment-friendliness. Also, membrane water-proof materials, compacted quicklime, cement fluid and mortar waterproof material and bentonite powder were analyzed to have low environment-friendliness.

  • Although the introduction of new materials and new construction methods and overseas materials has become more active due to the diversification of the construction market, the quality standards of waterproofing methods in Korea are insufficient. In particular, the quality control standard is applied to the KS F 2622:08 (Membrane Waterproofing layer performance test method), which is the existing standard, to prepare standards for quality control of waterproof materials, which is increased in Korea.

  • Polyurethane (PU) was synthesized by one-shot process and the PU nanofiber was prepared by electrospinning. In this study, electrospun PU multi-membranes were prepared with various coating thickness ratio of base resin to top resin, where the base resin contains melamine curing agent and acid catalyst and the top resin contains water-repellent agent of fluoro-carbon compounds. The PU nanofiber multi-membranes were analyzed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimeter, breathability, tensile strenth, air permeability and water resistance. The results showed that the PU multi-membrane provided excellent waterproof and moisture permeability.

  • This paper deals with the obeying ability to the crack of waterproof membrane (produced from polybutadiene- or epoxy type resine) under static and repetitive loading, and an increase in fatigue life of marine concrete structure by applying the waterproof membrane. From experimental results, it is cleared that the obeying ability for crack under repetitive loading is smaller than that under static loading. With regard to fatigue life, the use of membrane possessed large obeying performance under repetitive loading results in significantly increase in fatigue life of marine concrete structure

  • The duplex waterproofing construction method has been investigated to improve various problems (how to fix the sheet, breaking, air/water pocket, and cracks caused by different materials) of the existing rooftop exposed waterproofing construction method. By using fiber sheet, Net PE fabric, and thixotropy urethane with high viscosity, the waterproofing construction method is to glue the ground and waterproof course by circular dot. The method is also to construct the waterproof course with high hardness by using waterproof membrane coatings in upper hybrid system. By gluing the ground and the waterproof course by circular dot, the study is expected to be useful to minimize the simultaneous breaking in the waterproof course as tensile stress is buffer in case of the ground crackling. Also, since the waterproofing construction method is good at moving and emitting vapor from the ground, it is considered to be effective to minimize any damages caused by air/water pocket and get loose of the waterproof course.

A Study on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Breathable Waterproof Fabrics Manufactured with PTFE Membrane-fabric Composite (PTFE막-직물 복합체로 제조된 투습방수직물의 물성 및 역학특성에 관한 연구)

  • 다양한 용도로 사용되고 있는 라미네 이 팅 직물은 주로 별도로 제조된 고분자 필름 또는 막을 접착제, 열, 압력 등을 이용하여 기포(基布)와 결합시키는 방법으로 제조되어 진다. 이축연신시킨 Poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) sheet는 매우 우수한 높은 투과성을 지니는 다공성 물질이 며, 본 연구에서는 이 막을 나일론 직물에 라미네이팅시킨 투습방수직물을 시료로 사용하여 라미네이팅 후의 역학특성 변화를 분석 하였다. 라미네이팅에 따른 투습방수직물의 물성과 역학특성의 변화에 관하여 살펴본 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 3-layer 라미네이팅 직물(base fabric-PTFE membrane-knitted lining)의 인열강도는 2-layer라미네이팅 직물 (base fabric-PTFE membrane)에 비해 매우 높게 나타났으며, 가공 전 직물과 비교하여 코팅직물에서 나타난 것과 같은 인열강도의 감소는 나타나지 않았다. 직물-PTFE 막 복합체 의 경우, 라미네 이 팅 이 파단강도 및 파단신도 의 증가에 기여 한 것으로 나타났으며 특히 3-layer 라미네이팅 직물의 경우, 신장률이 20%를 넘어서면서 강도가 현저히 증가하였다. 의복을 착용하였을 때 가해질 수 있을 정도의 소변형(small deformation) 하에서의 역학특성 에 있어서는 라미네이팅에 의해 전단특성이 가장 유의한 변화를 나타내었다. 전단강성(G)과 전단 히스테리시스 (2HG,2HG5)모두 증가하였고, primary hand value 중에서는 stiffness 가장 현저한 증가를 나타내었다

  • The combined waterproofing technique, which forms the waterproofing layer of two or more substances, is characterized by forming a waterproof layer, which is characterized by the formation of waterproof layers and the thickness of the waterproofing layer is inherently formed. In this study, it is intended to verify the integrity of the material through the manufacture of materials for special purpose waterproofing methods, primarily for the manufacture of composite waterproofing materials and composite waterproofing methods using cement materials and materials.

  • This study is about appling non-exposure waterproofing method which combines the Cement Polymer Modified Waterproof Membrane coating and Selfadhesive Rubberized Asphalt sheet to the Roof Structure, Because there are a lot of problems in previous methods. So We had the performance tests using waterproofing method which combines two materials, and we analyzed the results. This study showed us very important results. We had bond strength test and tensile test under high, normal and low temperature, and the results were successful. And we also tested for coping with crack and movement. We found that tested materials were safe in those conditions. I think that Non-Exposure waterproofing method which combines the Cement Polymer Modified Waterproof Membrane coating and Selfadhesive Rubberized Asphalt sheet is available to concrete structure.
