Usefulness of microwave to melt rehydrated media and to remove oxygen from anaerobic tube media (Microwave를 이용한 배지 융해와 공기 제거)

  • The microwave of 2450 MHz, generated by a household cooking oven, was evaluated for its applicability to melt various rehydrated media and to remove dissolved oxygen from tubed media for anaerobic culture. The effect on the sterilization of E. coli in selective media was also evaluated. The following results were obtained. 10 The microwave oven was useful in saving time for melting media and in eliminating heat and combustion gas from the laboratory, which were inevitable by-products in the conventional flame method. 2) Dissolved oxygen could be removed without boiling over by exposing the tubes of anaerobic culture medium after putting them in a wire basket in a beaker with water. 30 The count of E. coli during the melting of MacConkey and EMB agar were similar to those treated with open flame. The microwave treatment was not considered a possible mean to replace autoclaving even in these selective media.

  • The large size grain of poly-Si film is obtained above the upper limit of excimer laser energy at which the random nucleation occurs. We simulate the time dependent temperature profile of αSi/SiO2/Si substrate structure according to the excimer laser energy with ANSYS® simulator. As the thickness is increased, the laser energy for the melting of αSi film is increased.

  • Alumino-borosilicate glasses containing nano-sized CuCl crystals for nonlinear optical application were prepared by the melting and precipitation process, and structural and optical properties were investigated by using XRD, TEM, SAXS, and optical spectroscopy. the average radius of the precipitated CuCl particles was about 2 nm. The blue shift of Z3 resonance peak with decreasing the precipitated CuCl particles size was found and the radius increased with decreasing the glass transition temperature of the matrix glass and with increasing the temperature and duration time of the precipitation heat treatment.

  • The line-fuse which one of device most widely used in distributed line system has a ability to cut off the fault current flow into the house. But this device can be used only one time. So there are many waste of human power and money to exchange acted line-fuse. In this paper, we designed new type of line-fuse melting zone using by different union metal, so line-fuse can be reused after once operated.

  • This investigation was designed to determine the release of fenbufen from suppositories and their bioavailability in rabbits. Suppositories containing fenbufen were made by the fusion method with Witepsol H-15, Wecobee and PEG 1540 base. Displacement value, weight variation, content uniformity, melting point and melting time were determined for preformulation of the fenbufen suppositories. The release rates were determined with the KP dissolution apparatus and with cellophane tube dialysis device and were increased in order of PEG 1540, Witespol H-15 and Wecobee. The bioavailabilities of fenbufen after rectal administration were also increased in order of PEG 1540, Witespol H-15 and Wecobee.

  • The fluxless wetting properties of UBM-coated Si-wafer to the binary lead-free solders(Sn-Ag, Sn-Sb, Sjn-In, Sn0Bi) were estimated by wetting balance method. With the new wettability indices from the wetting curves of one side coated specimen, the wetting property estimation of UBM-coated Si-wafer was possible. For UBM of Si-chip, Au/Cu/Cr UBm was better than au/Ni/TI in the point of wetting time/ At general reflow process temperature, the wettability of high melting point solders(Sn-Sb, Sn-Ag) was better than that of low melting point one(Sn-Bi, Sn-In). The contact angle of the one side coated Si-plate to the solder could be calculated from the force balance equation by measuring the static state force and the tilt angle.

  • In Ti active brazing of YSZ to STS 430 using Ag-Cu Filler Metal, the effect of Ti contents on the shear bonding strength were investigated together with the effect of brazing temperature and holding time. The addition of Ti in Ag-Cu Filler Metal increased the bonding strength up to 4.68% Ti, followed by the decrease with further addition. This seems to be caused by formation of TixOy at the reaction layer. Brazing temperature was optimized at 960C among a given temperature ranges. The addion of Sn to Ag-Cu filler metal brought the decrease of its melting temperature its melting temperature without a significant decrease of bonging strength.

  • Interpenetrating phase composites of TiB2-Cu system were produced via Spark-Plasma Sintering (SPS) oi nanocomposite powders. Under simultaneous action of pressure, temperature and electric current titanium diboride nanoparticles distributed in copper matrix move, agglomerate and form a fine-grained skeleton. Increasing SPS-temperature and he]ding time promote densification due to local melting of copper matrix When copper melting is avoided the compacts contain 17-20% porosity but titanium diboride skeleton is still formed representing the feature of SPS . High degree of densification and formation of titanium diboride network result in increased hardness of high-temperature SPS-compacts.

  • Molecular dynamics (MD) calculations were carried out in order to investigate the effect of MD cell size to predict the melting phenomena of A-type zeolite. We studied two model systems: a pseudocell of (T2O4Na)n, (L= 12.264 \AA, N= 84) and a true-cell of (SiAlO4Na)n. (L= 24.528 \AA, N= 672), where T is Si or Al. The radial and bond angle distribution functions of T(Si, Al)-O-T(Si, Al) and diffusion coefficients of T and O were reported at various temperatures. For the true-cell model, the melting temperature is below 1500 K and probably around 1000 K, which is about 600-700 K lower than the pseudocell model. Although it took more time (about 30 times longer) to obtain the molecular trajectories of the true-cell model than those of the pseudocell model, the true-cell model gave more realistic structural transition for the A-type zeolite, which agrees with experiment.

  • The radiation-induced graft polymerization of methacrlic acid and methyl methacrylate onto a polyester fabric was investigated with γ-ray as the radiation source, and the rate of grafting was examined. When acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, and methyl methacrylate were grafted onto a polyester fabric, grafting efficiency was depened upon the dielectric constant of the solvent in the monomer mixture. The yield of the graft polymerization was related to the total dose, the concentration of the monomer, and the concentration of the swelling agent. The melting point and the glass transition temperature of MA and MMA grafted copolymers were analysed by means of DTA. Physical properties, such as the moisture regain, the antistatic property, and the wicking time were measured.
