Plain woven carbon/6061Al 금속복합재료의 제조와 특성분석 (Thin Plate Fabrication and Characterization of Plain Woven Carbon / 6061 Al Composites)

  • Emphasis has been placed on thin plate fabrication of plain woven carbon fabric reinforced Al matrix composites using liquid pressing process. The composite has potential applications for PDP rear plate. The process is to use the low pressure for infiltration of Al melt into plain woven carbon fabric as the Al melt is pressurized directly. The minimum pressure required for the infiltration was calculated from force balance equation, permeability measurements and compaction behavior of carbon fiber. Also, the melting temperature and the holding time have been optimized. In order to measure coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the composites, the thermal strain measurement using strain gage was performed and the thermal conductivity of the composites was measured using laser flash method. The constituent materials of the composite are PAN type carbon fibers as reinforcements and 6061 Al alloys as matrices.

  • The mechanical properties of a hot rolled steel is mostly governed by a cooling control on the run out table. During the cooling control, the hot rotted steel performs a metallurgical transformation(austenite ${\to}$ ferrite) which can be measured with a magnetic flux detector. The magnetic flux detector consisting of exciting and detecting coil can estimates the metallurgical transformation by measuring the variation of permeability in steel. We developed the method of detecting the magnetic property of hot rolled steel and processing the measured signal, Which makes possible to measure on-line metallurgical transformation.

  • This study was carried orut considering the aspect of economical and measuring time to investigate through the literature review of the test methods and advantage -disadvantage of infilltrometer and porous probe test apparatus. SSRI and BAT permeameter could obtain results within relatively short time and measure low permeability. SDRI is able to obtain values the accuracy and representative of the overall in-situ. BAT permeameter is to suitable because it can obtain the values accurately and quickly . Therefore the apparatus cost can be to disregard. In-situ measurement using in-situ hydralulic conductivity test equipment is able to do for the engineer to quickly identify and remediate problem areas due to construction or material changes.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present and discuss some of harbor foundation constructed on seashore soft ground by Deep Wing Mixing in deep mixing method. A series of laboratory and field experiments including unconfined compressive strength, permeability, geo-physical survey, sea water concentration, lateral and settlement measurement, field core sample were carried out to check physical, mechanical and environmental characteristics of solidified foundation soil treated by HWS solidifying agent. The results from this research showed that Deep Wing Mixing method could be efficiently applied in the construction site of seashore structure foundation.

  • 본 연구에서는 복사열전달 효과를 알아보기 위해 에너지 방정식을 수치적으로 풀었으며, 그 결과를 열전달계수 및 온도의 항으로 나타내었다. 수치 해석적 모델의 검증을 위해 여러사람들이 물질전달과정 해석을 위해 사용한 나프타린 승화법(naphth- alene sublimation technique)을 이용하여 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 실험에 사용된 다공질체(ceramic blocks)의 침투율도 측정하였다.

  • Ultrasonic testing has a characteristics such as excellent permeability, high-sensitivity to find defect and an almost exact measurement for position. size and direction of inner defect, which differ from other non-destructive testing. In the study, we developed program into optimal testing condition, to distinguish obstacle echo and defect position. This program shows generation and processing of ultrasonic pulse. We compared simulation with ultrasonic test in 45$^\circ$, 60$^\circ$and 70$^\circ$transducer. Test results were in accordance with simulation within 0.1~7.2%.

  • The analysis of microstructure is essential to understand the material behavior such as shrinkage, strength, and permeability. In this study, three different easy-to-apply specimen preparation methods for the mercury intrusion analysis were chosen, and their effectiveness in removing pore water and thus impeding further hydration was evaluated. As a result, it was found that the direct freeze-drying was the most effective among the three methods.

Novel Planar Metamaterial with a Negative Refractive Index

  • A new planar metamaterial (MTM) with simultaneous negative values of permittivity (${\varepsilon}$) and permeability (${\mu}$) is proposed. Our MTM is composed of two identical copper patterns etched on both sides of dielectric laminate, which is very thin and easy to fabricate. Unlike conventional MTMs, the proposed structure shows a negative refractive index (NRI) behavior with respect to a normally incident wave. To explain the underlying principle of the NRI characteristics, an equivalent resonant circuit model based on surface current density distribution is investigated. An eigenmode analysis and a three-dimensional wave simulation for the stacked MTM prism are also performed to verify the existence of negative refraction. The experimental results from the transmission and reflection measurement ensure the validity of our design approach and show good agreement with the theoretically predicted effective medium parameters.

  • Analog-digital converter boards for use in personal computers have recently being improved markedly, many kinds of high speed(1 MHz - 10 MHz sampling rale) and over 12-bit vertical resolution A/D boards released. It can be applicable to high frequency magnetic measurements. In measurement of magnetic properties of high frequency, digitizing oscilloscope or trasient recorder are being used. but, those price are often expensive, we constructed PC controlled A-C B-H loop tracer that can measure Bs, Br, He, permeability and may be applied about 100 Hz - 20 kHz range. it use IBM PC compatible 1 M Sample/s, 12 bit A/D converter board with SSH(Simultaneous Sample and Hold).

  • In this study, a new kind of instrument for measuring the magnetic shielding effectiveness (MSE) was developed using a double yoke; one a magnetizing yoke and the other a sensing yoke. Using the developed instrument, the MSE could be measured for a steel sheet specimen in the ELF range, where the magnetic permeability contributes to the MSE at low frequencies and eddy currents contributes to the MSE high frequencies with < 0.1 dB reproducibility. The developed measuring method can be applied to quality control in a steel sheet company producing EMI/EMC shielding materials.
