Automatic Edge Class Formulation for Classified Vector Quantization

  • 영상 압축 분야에서 분류벡터양자화 방법은 에지와 같이 시각적 인지에 중요한 특징을 잘 복원해주는 특성을 가지고 있다. 그러나, 기존의 분류벡터양자화에서는 수직, 수평, 대각 에지 클래스와 같은 몇 개의 선형 에지 클래스를 사전에 정의하고 분류함으로써, 영상 내 존재하는 다양한 유형의 에지 패턴을 효과적으로 재구성할 수 있도록 일반화되어 있지 못하다. 본 논문에서는 에지 패턴들간의 유사도 측정자를 정의하고 이를 바탕으로 에지 블록을 분류하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 영상내외 각 에지블록은 그 블록이 가지는 에지 패턴의 형태에 따라 하나의 특징벡터로 변환된다. 훈련 영상들로부터 다양한 형태의 에지 패턴들을 유사도가 높은 것들끼리 군집화하여 일반화된 에지 클래스를 자동으로 생성한다. 실험에서는 생성된 선형/비선형 에지 클래스의 유형을 보이고, 이를 이용하여 0.6875bpp로 압축된 결과 영상에서 에지가 잘 보존되고 있음을 보인다.

이동 객체를 보존하는 시접선 추정 기술 (Moving Object Preserving Seamline Estimation)

  • 다수의 카메라를 이용하여 취득된 영상을 정합 하여 하나의 넓은 시야각을 가지는 영상을 합성하는 기술이 많은 영역에서 사용되고 있다. 영상의 정합 영역 내에 이동 객체가 등장한 경우 객체의 왜곡 없이 영상을 정합 하기 위하여 움직임 정보를 이용하는 시접선 추정 방법을 제안한다. 기존 시접선 추정 기반 기술들은 영상 외곽선 정보와 시차 등을 이용하여 에너지 함수를 형성하고 시접선을 추정하는 방법을 사용하여 왔으나, 본 논문에서는 프레임 별 외곽선 정보를 이용하여 움직임 정보를 계산하고, 이를 에너지 함수에 반영하여 영상 정합 시 이동 객체의 왜곡을 방지하는 시접선 추정 기술을 제안한다. 또한, 정합 영상의 왜곡 정도를 정량화 할 수 있는 지표를 제안하여 기존 기술과 제안된 방법의 성능 차이를 검증한다.

유사도 알고리즘을 활용한 시맨틱 프로세스 검색방안 (Semantic Process Retrieval with Similarity Algorithms)

  • One of the roles of the Semantic Web services is to execute dynamic intra-organizational services including the integration and interoperation of business processes. Since different organizations design their processes differently, the retrieval of similar semantic business processes is necessary in order to support inter-organizational collaborations. Most approaches for finding services that have certain features and support certain business processes have relied on some type of logical reasoning and exact matching. This paper presents our approach of using imprecise matching for expanding results from an exact matching engine to query the OWL(Web Ontology Language) MIT Process Handbook. MIT Process Handbook is an electronic repository of best-practice business processes. The Handbook is intended to help people: (1) redesigning organizational processes, (2) inventing new processes, and (3) sharing ideas about organizational practices. In order to use the MIT Process Handbook for process retrieval experiments, we had to export it into an OWL-based format. We model the Process Handbook meta-model in OWL and export the processes in the Handbook as instances of the meta-model. Next, we need to find a sizable number of queries and their corresponding correct answers in the Process Handbook. Many previous studies devised artificial dataset composed of randomly generated numbers without real meaning and used subjective ratings for correct answers and similarity values between processes. To generate a semantic-preserving test data set, we create 20 variants for each target process that are syntactically different but semantically equivalent using mutation operators. These variants represent the correct answers of the target process. We devise diverse similarity algorithms based on values of process attributes and structures of business processes. We use simple similarity algorithms for text retrieval such as TF-IDF and Levenshtein edit distance to devise our approaches, and utilize tree edit distance measure because semantic processes are appeared to have a graph structure. Also, we design similarity algorithms considering similarity of process structure such as part process, goal, and exception. Since we can identify relationships between semantic process and its subcomponents, this information can be utilized for calculating similarities between processes. Dice's coefficient and Jaccard similarity measures are utilized to calculate portion of overlaps between processes in diverse ways. We perform retrieval experiments to compare the performance of the devised similarity algorithms. We measure the retrieval performance in terms of precision, recall and F measure? the harmonic mean of precision and recall. The tree edit distance shows the poorest performance in terms of all measures. TF-IDF and the method incorporating TF-IDF measure and Levenshtein edit distance show better performances than other devised methods. These two measures are focused on similarity between name and descriptions of process. In addition, we calculate rank correlation coefficient, Kendall's tau b, between the number of process mutations and ranking of similarity values among the mutation sets. In this experiment, similarity measures based on process structure, such as Dice's, Jaccard, and derivatives of these measures, show greater coefficient than measures based on values of process attributes. However, the Lev-TFIDF-JaccardAll measure considering process structure and attributes' values together shows reasonably better performances in these two experiments. For retrieving semantic process, we can think that it's better to consider diverse aspects of process similarity such as process structure and values of process attributes. We generate semantic process data and its dataset for retrieval experiment from MIT Process Handbook repository. We suggest imprecise query algorithms that expand retrieval results from exact matching engine such as SPARQL, and compare the retrieval performances of the similarity algorithms. For the limitations and future work, we need to perform experiments with other dataset from other domain. And, since there are many similarity values from diverse measures, we may find better ways to identify relevant processes by applying these values simultaneously.

대북 제재 조치 평가 및 전망 (An assessment of sanctions on North Korea and the prospect)

  • The South Korean society has experienced many changes since the sinking of ROKS Cheonan. The government reviewed its defense posture and adopted the 5·24 Measure in its relations with North Korea. As a result, the people of South Korea became more conscious of security situations on the Korean peninsula while North Korea's economy suffered badly. Meanwhile, the South Korean government has taken a flexible stance toward North Korea in terms of exchange and cooperation since September 2011. The flexible stance was to manage inter-Korea relations in a stable manner and relieve the hardships of the North Korean people while preserving the spirits and purposes of the 5·24 Measure. The UN Security Council adopted twenty-six resolutions and statements on North Korea since June 25, 1950. They include thirteen U.N. Security Council resolutions including those concerning nuclear weapons or missile programs, nine Presidential statements, and four press statements. Resolution 82, the first U.N. resolution on North Korea, came when the Korean War broke out. Resolution 825, the first one related to nuclear or missile programs, was adopted in response to North Korea's withdrawal from the NPT. Apart from these U.N. resolutions, the United States has imposed separate sanctions against North Korea. North Korea's nuclear weapons program can be considered in comparison with that of Iran in terms of the consequences they create for the regional security. The Security Council has adopted six resolutions on Iran so far. One should note that the resolutions on Iran have had much stronger sanctions compared to those imposed on North Korea. That is, while the North Korea case may be viewed as a more serious threat to international security from the perspective of nuclear weapons development or proliferation, tougher sanctions have been placed on Iran. There are two approaches that South Korea should take in addressing the related issues. First, we should aim to reduce the gap between sanctions imposed on Iran and North Korea. It is difficult to understand that a country with more serious problems is rewarded with lighter sanctions. We should take measures through the Security Council Sanctions Committee to make individuals and groups in North Korea that play a central role in developing nuclear weapons and missiles subject to additional sanctions. Second, we have to change. Other countries in the international community have become tired of North Korea's nuclear issue and now they look to South Korea for initiative. We should correctly understand this current situation and play a leading role within our capacity. Knowingly and unknowingly, the notion that the North Korean nuclear issue may be left to South Korea has been spread around the international community. Although the situation is grave, we should try to open a new horizon in ushering in the unification era by taking the initiative with confidence that there is a looming hope ahead of us. For these tasks, we should stop thinking in the old way that has been ossified for the last two decades. We should not be pushed around by neighboring great powers in dealing with North Korea related issues anymore; we should take the initiative with resolution that we will play our role at the center of four great powers and with confidence that we can do it. Based on the confidence that the Republic of Korea has become a country with enough capacity to take the initiative, we should establish a 'National Grand Strategy' representing South Korea's strategic vision that the unification is the ultimate solution to the problems related to North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

적응적 양자화와 순차적 병합 기법을 사용한 컬러 영상 분할 (Color Image Segmentation Using Adaptive Quantization and Sequential Region-Merging Method)

  • 본 논문은 적응적 양자화 컬러 수와 적응적 병합 임계값을 이용하여 순차적으로 영역을 병합하여 영역의 경계를 보존하며 영상을 분할하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안방법은 먼저 PSNR을 이용하여 영상에 따라 다른 양자화 컬러 수로 영상을 벡터 양자화 한다. 그리고 양자화 영상을 이용하여 초기 영역을 설정한 후 CIE Lab와 RGB 컬러 공간에서 순차적으로 유사한 영역을 병합하여 영상의 주요 영역들로 분할한다. 병합의 각 단계에서는 유사성의 척도로 인접 영역의 컬러 거리를 사용하며 병합 임계값은 분할된 영역과 원영상의 컬러 거리의 평균과 평균 변화량을 이용하여 적응적으로 구하였다. 또한 RGB 컬러 공간에서의 병합 영상이 주요 영역 단위로 병합되지 않은 경우 후처리로서 CIE Lab 영역에서 다시 한번 병합을 수행한다. 이때 초기 영역 영상과 RGB 컬러 공간에서의 병합 영상의 영역간의 컬러 거리를 이용하여 병합 유무를 결정한다. 실험 결과는 제안방법에 의한 결과 영상이 주요 객체를 중심으로 분할되며 객체의 경계가 잘 보존됨을 보여준다. 또한 객관적인 척도에서도 기존의 방법에 비해 좋은 결과를 보여준다.

바이오복합재료 제조 공정시 제조온도 및 시간에 의한 영향 평가 (Evaluation of the Impact on Manufacturing Temperature and Time in the Production Process of Bio-composites)

  • 본 연구는 바이오복합재(bio-composites) 제조시 제조온도와 시간이 기질인 열가소성 고분자와 충전제인 왕겨분말에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 수행하였다. 제조온도가 왕겨분말에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보기 위해 왕겨분말을 $220^{\circ}C$에서 10분부터 2시간 동안 처리한 후 열가소성 고분자인 polypropylene (PP)과 low-density polyethylene (LDPE)에 충전제로 첨가하여 바이오복합재를 제조한 후 기계적 성질을 측정하였다. $220^{\circ}C$에서 왕겨분말의 처리시간이 증가할수록 왕겨분말의 주요 구성성분이 열분해로 인하여 인장강도와 충격강도값이 감소하였다. 실제적인 제조온도에 의한 중량감소를 측정하기 위하여 열중량분석기(thermogravimetric analysis, TGA)를 이용하여 $220^{\circ}C$의 등온상태에서 2시간 동안 측정한 결과 열가소성고분자에서는 중량의 변화가 거의 발생하지 않았으며 충전제인 왕겨분말과 바이오복합재의 경우 시간이 증가할수록 열분해에 의한 중량감소량이 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러므로 바이오복합재 제조시 높은 제조온도로 인한 물성의 저하를 방지하기 위해서는 적절한 온도와 제조시간을 결정하는 것이 중요하다고 볼 수 있다.

치과위생사의 수행업무에 대한 인식도 및 실태조사 (A study on the job awareness of dental hygienists and their job performance)

  • The job of dental hygienists is specialized, and they have to be capable of performing their primary duties including prevention of oral diseases, oral prophylaxis, and oral health education. To ensure their successful job performance, dentists should have an accurate understanding of their duties and need a change of mind-set about them. And there should be written legal and concrete regulations on the coverage of their work in order to let them boost their job performance with pride and a sense of responsibility. The purpose of this study was to examine the actual roles and job performance of dental hygienists in clinical field in an attempt to discuss the substantial job performance of dental hygienists and their job enlargement. It's basically meant to help enhance the efficiency and quality of medical services. The subjects in this study were 471 dental hygienists in dental clinics, dental hospitals, university hospitals and general hospitals across the nation, on whom a survey was conducted in person from March 2 to 25, 2005. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS Win 12.0 program, and the findings of the study were as follows: 1. The major jobs they currently performed included oral health education, hospital management, simple duties, extensive dental hygiene duties and joint treatment assistance. They hoped to continue to be responsible for oral health education, preventive treatment and extensive dental hygiene duties. 2. As for their current job by age, extensive dental hygiene duties, preventive treatment, joint treatment assistance, preserving treatment, prosthetic treatment and pediatric treatment were most conducted by the dental hygienists who were at the age of 26 to less than 31, and those who were at the age of 31 and up were most responsible for hospital management and simple duties. 3. As to job awareness by workplace, their workload was statistically significantly different according to their workplace. The hospital employees took care of more work than those in clinics. 4. Concerning job awareness by age, the younger dental hygienists suffered more role conflicts and were given a less free hand in work handling, the middle-aged group's job was uncertain. Legal regulations about the coverage of their work should be prepared in detail as a measure to stir up their responsible job performance and pride. In order to take advantage of experienced dental hygienists, their duties should be more differentiated and specialized, and their working conditions should be improved to boost their job satisfaction. That is, they should be given ample chances for promotion and serving as a middle manager and be given fair treatment according to their career. If their work is accurately darified and specialized based on career, it will boost the efficiency of dental treatment. Dental hygienists also should direct sustained efforts into self-development in order to become a skilled and professional oral health personnel.

멸균품의 유효기간에 관한 연구 - 포장재와 보관환경 중심으로 - (A Study for Safe Storage Time for In-house Sterilized Products in a Korean Hospital)

  • This study was conducted to justify the "prescribed shelf life" currently used in Samsung Medical Center and give recommendations based on scientific data to adopt for safe and cost-effective storage times for sterile goods Since the early 1970's, predetermined expiration dating policy has been used in Korea on all in-house sterilized products like any other countries; six months for the supplies wrapped in polyethylene peel pouches and two weeks for the rest. Recently, however, the studies suggest that current standards for preserving the sterility can be changing. It looks like we unnecessarily have too-short expiration date of sterilized supplies, that is far from being cost effective. Certainly, this research is an exciting project, especially in Korea, and will be leading and contributing to the paradigm shift of the conservative concept of shelf life for sterile supplies in Korean healthcare facilities. The major goal of this study was placed on the measurement of the recontamination time in packs wrapped in all kinds of wrapping materials used in S.M.C and stored in various conditions for periods ranging from three months to six months, and then develop a practical standard of "shelf life" based on the analyzed data. Objectives: To measure and compare the recontamination time of sterile packs among wrapppers and storage conditions, and develop a practical standard for the shelf life and storage conditions of sterile products. Samples and Method: The sterile integrity was investigated of the total 1,440 sterile sample packs containing gauze strip($1.5cm{\times}0.5cm$) we prepared and wrapped in nine wrapping materials (randomized reprocessed linens, linens reprocessed 99 times, linens reprocessed 120 times, new kraft paper, used kraft paper, new nonwoven fabrics, 6-time reprocessed nonwoven fabrics, new polyethylene peel pouches, used polyethylene peel pouches), and stored in four locations(closed cabinet of one of the typical wards, open shelf of one of ICUs, open shelf of separate storage room in ER, open shelf in OR), for three to six months, respectively in 1998. Each type of packs were opened weekly and the gauze strips inoculated into Brewer's thioglycollate broth at $35^{\circ}C$ for seven days. Results: There was no growth found for any types of the pack and storage conditions studied. Discussion: This study was conducted in an attempt to identify the possibility of extending the current shelf life for sterile goods we use in a sense of cost effectiveness. The findings suggest that we could extend our expiration dates, that means we can save a lot of materials and personnel time meeded for resterilizing, outdating, recleaning, wrapping, and reshelving. Then it will initiate a great reform in the field of healthcare in Korea, and now we are looking forward to this valuable revolution. We are going to continue this study and take all steps need to apply this new concept to our practice, and then trying to extend to other hospitals.

초등학교 과학과 환경교육을 위한 웹기반 학습의 적용 (An Application of Web-Based Learning Focused on Environment Education of Elementary School Science)

  • The aims of this study are to develop web-based learning materials for science and environmental education of elementary school. The effect of environmental education was divided into eight to measure: the awareness of using web as environmental material, the ability to use web as environmental material. the awareness of environmental problems, the satisfaction for environmental education using web, the awareness of preserving local environment, self-leading ability to learn environment, the effect of using environment homepage, and the internalization of environmental awareness. This study obtained the following results; First, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.29 points higher than the control group having traditional learning in the awareness of using web as environmental material, showing a statistically significant difference. Second, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 2.80 points higher than the control group in the ability to use web as environmental material, showing a statistically significant difference. Third, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.10 points higher than the control group in the awareness of environmental problems, showing a statistically significant difference. Fourth, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based teaming was 0.89 points higher than the control group in the satisfaction for environmental education using web, showing a statistically significant difference. Fifth, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.70 points higher than the control group in the self-leading ability to learn environment, showing a statistically significant difference. Sixth, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.21 points higher than the control group in the effect of using environment homepage, showing a statistically significant difference. Finally, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.39 points higher than the control group in the internalization of environmental awareness, showing a statistically significant difference. Based on these results, it is assumed that the teaching method which applied web-based teaming to science and environmental education in elementary school is a effective strategy for elementary science and on environmental education.

Randomized clinical trial on the efficacy of Escherichia coli-derived rhBMP-2 with ${\beta}$-TCP/HA in extraction socket

  • PURPOSE. This randomized clinical trial was conducted to assess the safety and effectiveness of the ErhBMP-2 in alveolar bone regeneration as well as preservation of the ${\beta}$-TCP bone graft material that contains ErhBMP-2. MATERIALS AND METHODS. This study involved 72 patients at the 3 study centers. The patients, who were divided into 2 groups: the experiment group who had ErhBMP-2 coated TCP/HA and the control group who had TCP/HA graft material alone transplanted immediately after tooth extraction. CT was taken before and 3 months after the transplantation and healing status was compared between the two groups. The efficacy endpoints that were used to measure the degree of bone induction included alveolar bone height and 3 measurements of bone width. The paired t test was used to determine the significance of the changes (P<.05). RESULTS. Changes in alveolar bone height were $-1.087{\pm}1.413$ mm in the control group and $-.059{\pm}0.960$ mm in the experimental group (P<.01). At 25% extraction socket length [ESL], the changes were $0.006{\pm}1.149$ mm in the control group and $1.279{\pm}1.387$ mm in the experimental group. At 50% ESL, the changes were $0.542{\pm}1.157$ mm and $1.239{\pm}1.249$ mm, respectively (P<.01 for 25% ESL, and P<.05 for 50% ESL). During the experiment, no adverse reactions to the graft material were observed. CONCLUSION. ErhBMP-2 coated ${\beta}$-TCP/HA were found to be more effective in preserving alveolar bone than conventional ${\beta}$-TCP/HA alloplastic bone graft materials.
