  • This study is a model on the Migration Characteristics which developed by using the equations for conservation of mass, momentum and for lateral stability of the streambed, an the model can be examined for magnitude and location of near-bank bed scour as well as rates and direction of meander migration in which sine-Wave type rivers(SWR) of the small sinuosity. It is evident from this study that the transverse bed slope factor B' and transverse mass flux factor $ play significient roles, and show reasonable that the values are B'=4.0 and $=0.4 respectively . It will be a useful guide in planning, design, construction, and development of SWR river-basin projects.

  • In this letter, a novel zeroth-order resonant (ZOR) antenna on vialess co-planar waveguide (CPW) is proposed. It is based on a composite right/left-handed CPW transmission line. To achieve a compact size, this antenna utilizes the ZOR condition, and its reactive parameters determine the resonant frequency. Each unit cell is composed of a metallic top patch and meander lines. Since it is realized on the CPW single layer, the proposed antenna has the benefits of being a compact size and easy to fabricate. The bandwidth of 6.8% and efficiency of 62% are experimentally achieved. Its bandwidth is enhanced compared with other ZOR antennas.

  • We fabricated a resistive superconducting fault current limiter of meander type based on a YBCO film. In order to disperse the heat generated at hot spots in the YBCO film the film was coated with a gold shunt layer. When diodes were inserted in the parallel circuit to restrict the temperature increase in the SFCL element by reducing power supply cycles, the voltage could be increased to $\sqrt{2}$ times with the same quench resistance at a half and full cycles.

  • New types of ac plasma display panel (PDP) cells are designed and tested electro-optically. We proposed two types of sustaining electrode to improve the luminous efficiency. One is the meander electrode, which has longer discharge path length and smaller electrode area than conventional type. The other is the bridge-shaped electrode, which eliminates the transparent electrode near the barrier ribs. They show higher luminous efficiency and lower power consumption than conventional type.

• The rivulet is a narrow stream of liquid flowing down a solid surface. When the rivulet\`s flow rate exceeds a certain limit, it tends to meander exhibiting the instability of its interface. This analysis performs a perturbation analysis of this meandering rivulet assuming an inviscid flow possessing contact angle hysteresis at the contact line. The analysis reveals that the contact angle hysteresis as well as the velocity difference across the inter-face, strongly induces the instability of the liquid interface. Moreover, when the rivulet veto-city is low, it is predicted that the axisymmetric disturbance amplifies more rapidly than the anti-axisymmetric disturbance, which explains the emergence of the droplet flow at the low velocity regime.

  • For the design of suitable aquatic habitats and habitat management purposes, sensitive descriptors for aquatic areas were identified and analyzed. The classification system of the aquatic areas were developed for natural streams and modified streams in Korea. Relationships among the descriptors of an aquatic area such as channel width, meander wave length, and arc angle have been defined. The analysis indicates that the total mean sinuosity is 1.25 for the main channels of natural streams, whereas the mean value of the sinuosity of modified streams is 1.14. The mean values of the total area, the width, and the length for the sandbars of natural streams are larger than those of modified streams.

  • Recent ULSI and multilevel structure trends in microelectronic devices minimize the line width down to a quarter micron and below, which results in the high current densities in thin film interconnections. Under high current densities, an EM(electromigration) induced failure becomes one of the critical problems in a microelectronic device. This study is to improve thin film interconnection materials by investigating the EM characteristics in PSG(phosphosilicate glass)/SiO$_2$ passivated Al-l%Si thin film interconnections. Straight line patterns, wide and narrow link type patterns, and meander type patterns, etc. were fabricated by a standard photholithography process. The main results are as follows. The current crowding effects result in the decrease of the lifetime in thin film interconnections. The electric field effects accelerate the decrease of lifetime in the double-layered thin film interconnections. The lifetime of interconnections also depends upon the current conditions of P.D.C.(pulsed direct current) frequencies applied at the same duty factor.

  • We fabricated resistive superconducting fault current lmiters based on YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7}$ thin films and investigated their quench propagation characteristics. The YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7}$ film was coated with a gold layer and patterned into 1 mm wide meander lines by photolithography. The limiters were tested with simulated fault currents of various fault angles and amplitudes. The quench propagation characteristics were explained based on the heat transfer within the film as well as between the film and the surrounding liquid nitrogen. The quench completion time strongly depended on the potential fault current. It was 1 msec at the peak fault current of 76 A/peak/ and corresponding quench propagation speed was 43 m/sec (film cross section: 4 x 10$^{-6}$ $\textrm{cm}^2$).

  • We fabricated thin film superconducting fault current limiters based on YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7}$ thin films and investigated the distribution of quench progress in the limiters. The limiters were tested with simulated fault currents. Quench progress depended significantly on the position in the limiter with respect to electrodes as well as the fault current magnitude. The heat transfer from limiter meander lines to electrodes explains these results.s.
