  • We propose a methods which is reducing direction estimation error of sound source in the reverberant and noisy environments. The proposed algorithm divides speech signal into voice and unvoice using VAD. We estimate the direction of source when current frame is voiced. TDOA (Time-Difference of Arrival) between microphone array using the GCC-PHAT (Generalized Cross Correlation with Phase Transform) method will be estimated in that frame. Then, we compare the peak value of cross-correlation of two signals applied to estimated time-delay with other time-delay in time-table in order to improve the accuracy of source location. If the angle of current frame is far different from before and after frame in successive voiced frame, the angle of current frame is replaced with mean value of the estimated angle in before and after frames.

  • The spray characteristics of a direct injection multi-hole diesel nozzle having the 2-spring nozzle holder were investigated by using the image processing system and a PDPA(phase Bowler particle analyzer) system. The spray tip penetration, the spray angle, and the droplet diameter and velocity with the variation of the pump speed, injection quantity were measured. From, the experiments, we know that there are small droplets which are not to be detected with spray image around the leading edge of the spray. In order to represent the mean characteristics of the intermittent spray very well, it is very important to set the time windows accurately. From the measurements along the axis of the spray, close to the nozzle, the initially injected droplets are overtaken by droplets that follow them. And also there are the maximum axial mean velocity and SMD at the following part of the leading edge of the spray.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of leg length discrepancy (LLD) on the human body during gait and standing posture. Methods: The study group comprised of 17 adult participants with LLDs of <1 cm. LLDs were artificially induced to 0, 1, 2, and 3 cm. The proportion of weight distribution, shift of the mean center of pressure, and Cobb's angle were measured in the standing position. Kinematic variables such as walking and striding width and time, and the proportion of stance phase for single- and double-limb gait were measured as well. The participants were required to either stand or walk on a treadmill (Zebris FDM) with a pressure plate, and the Cobb's angle measurements were obtained from radiographs. Results: A discrepancy of 3 cm in leg length resulted in a statistically significant shift of the center of pressure in the standing position. Moreover, the Cobb angle increased as the discrepancy became larger. The step length and width of the longer (left) leg during gait statistically significantly increased when the discrepancy was 2 cm. In addition, step time was statistically significant when the discrepancy between the longer (right) and shorter (left) legs was more than 2 cm. The proportion of single-limb stance phase was statistically significant as the discrepancy became larger, especially when the discrepancy was >2 cm for the longer (right) leg and 1 cm for the shorter (right) leg. Conclusion: The study showed that LLD influenced deformations of the human body and walking.

  • Fluid properties which are most commonly used to evaluate spray atomization characteristics, are important because they affect velocity and size distribution of droplets. The purpose of this study was to incorporate the significant characteristics in atomization process of industrial etching spray and how each of them affects the design of precise pressure-swirl nozzles. The experiment was carried out with different viscosity and density of fluid. The macro characteristics of liquid spray, such as the spray angle and shape were captured by PMAS and the micro characteristics of liquid spray, such as droplet size and velocity were obtained by PDA. The mean velocity and SMD of droplets were measured along axial and radial direction. It was found that the higher viscosity and density resulted in the larger SMD and the lower mean velocity of droplets.

  • This study describes the spray structure of gasoline port injectors by using phase Doppler particle analyzer(PDPA) and particle motion analysis system(PMAS). The characteristics of fuel spray such as the spray penetration, spray angle and breakup processes were obtained by PMAS and the droplet size and mean velocity were measured by PDPA system. Pintle type and two-hole type injectors were used as gasoline port fuel injectors under various injection pressures. The effect of injection pressure on the droplet mean diameter and axial mean velocity of droplet were investigated under the various injection conditions. In addition the comparison of breakup processes for the two types of injectors was also conducted. It Is shown that pintle type injector has smaller droplet size than that of two-hole type injector.

  • The experimental measurements were carried out to examine turbulent disintegration characteristics ejecting from a counter-flowing internal mixing pneumatic nozzle under variable conditions of swirl angles and air pressures. The air injection pressure was varied from 60 kPa to 180 kPa and four counter-flowing internal mixing nozzles with axi-symmetric tangential-drilled holes at swirl angle of 15$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$, and 60$^{\circ}$to the central axis have been specially designed. The experimental results were quantitatively analyzed, focusing mainly on the comparison of turbulent atomization characteristics issuing from an internal mixing swirl nozzle. To illustrate the swirl phenomena, the distributions of mean velocities, turbulence intensities, volume flux, and SMD (Sauter Mean Diameter, or D$\sub$32/) were comparatively analyzed.

  • Enthalpy transport in a pulse tube was investigated by two-dimensional analysis of mass, momentum and energy equations of the gas as well as energy conservation of the tube wall. The mean temperature of the gas and the tube wall was obtained directly by assuming that the outer surface of a pulse tube is adiabatic. Effects of operating frequency, tube wall thickness, velocity ratio and velocity phase angle between both ends of a pulse tube on net enthalpy flow were shown.

  • In this work, the properties as polishing wax for automobile of O/W type microemulsion containing wax, liquid paraffine and quaternaryammonium salt was investigated. The microemulsions were prepared at $96{\sim}97^{\circ}C$ by the phase inversion method, and polyoxyethylene(20) sorbitan monooleate (POE(20)SMO) and distearyl dimethyl ammonium chloride(D.D.A.C) as the emulsifiers were used. The mean particle size of the rnicroemulsions was about 7${\pm}$0.5nm and as the properties of polishing wax, gloss increased degree, water resistant gloss degree, initial and final contact angle after water resistance were tested. The result was that the value of water resistantance and contact angle were decreased with increasing amount of POE(20)SMO and D.D.A.C., while the gloss degree values did not affected. And the rnicroemulsion blended with mono ethylene glycol(MEG) of 5${\sim}$15wt% showed smaller particle size and more stable particle size distribution than without MEG. Finally, this microemulsion showed more excellent values of gloss degree, the water resistant gloss degree and contact angle, than two kinds of commercial polishing wax for automobile.

  • PURPOSE: This study concerns the wheelchair-based rehabilitation of elderly people, investigating muscle activity and coordination of upper limbs during wheelchair-based new millennium health gymnastics with varying elbow exercise velocity. METHODS: Twelve elderly people participated in new millennium gymnastics twice per week during 12-weeks. The group was separated into 0.4, 1.0, and 1.6 Hz groups (controlled by the metronome speed). Range of motion was measured by electrogoniometer, electromyography signals used root mean square values. The data application was normalized using reference voluntary contraction (%RVC). Upper limb (wrist and elbow joint) data gathered while standing up after the "falling on hips" was investigated in terms of coordination of angle-angle plots. One-way ANOVA, paired t-test and Scheffe's post hoc comparisons, were used for statistical analyses. RESULTS: There were results taken before and after the experiments. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the triceps brachii and flexor carpi radialis of the 0.4 Hz group (p<.05). There was significant difference in the triceps brachi of the 1 Hz group. No significant differences were found in all muscles of the 1.6 Hz group. Muscle co-activation indexes of the 0.4 Hz group were larger than the others. The 0.4 Hz graph was turning point synchronized clockwise. The 1 Hz graph was out of phase with the negative slope. The 1.6 Hz graph was turning point synchronized counterclockwise, and uncontrolled factor phase was offset on angle-angle plots. CONCLUSION: It is found that improvement of muscle activity and upper limbs coordination of elderly people using wheelchair-based new millennium gymnastics is optimal with elbow exercise velocity with a frequency of 0.4 Hz.
