A Study on the Characteristic of Power Transmission by the Power-take-off(P.T.O.) of farm Tractor (Tractor 동력취출장치(P.T.O.)의 동력전달구조에 관한 연구)

  • The power transmission to the traction devices may be very important for the tractor performance and therefore this system has been studied very much in the past. On the other hand, the PTO(Power-take-off) has been considered as an accessary on the tractor with a few work for its power transmission. Because of increased use of PTO operation in various kind of farming operations in recent years, the function of PTO may become such important as the traction facilities. In this study, the power transmission characteristics of PTO drive was analyzed theoretically and some experimental work was done to study on it. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The most stable condition of PTO work was obtained when the intersection angle of the two curves for driving and driven torques was about ${\pi}/2$. 2) To obtain the most stable operation it is better to use both the speed control and the full control together. 3) Six steps differential gear may not be enough to use the PTO power smoothly. It is thought that the three steps differential gear on the shaft of PTO may be necessary additionally for a smooth operation. 4) When the traction facilities and the PTO are used at the same time, the torque of crank shaft becomes Tt + Tp, and the high efficiency and good stability of word will be obtained with the small variation of driving speed. 5) When the tractor was operated with 75% of the rated horse power and 70% of maximum speed, the best thermal efficiency could be obtained. 6) The most dangerous sound for human occured at the rated speed of PTO and tus it may be necessary to control the dangerous noise.

Magnetic Levitated Electric Monorail System for Flat Panel Display Glass Delivery Applications (FPD 공정용 Glass 이송 시스템을 위한 자기부상 EMS의 개발)

  • In recent semiconductor and FPD (Flat Panel Display) manufacturing processes, high clean-class delivery operation is required more and more for short working time and better product quality. Traditionally SLIM (Single-sided Linear Induction Motor) is widely used in the liner drive applications because of its simplicity in the rail structure. A magnetically levitated (Maglev) unmanned vehicle with SLIM traction, which is powered by a CPS (Contactless Power Supply) can be a high precision delivery solution for this industry. In this paper unmanned FPD-carrying vehicle, which can levitate without contacting the rail structure, is suggested for high clean-class FPD delivery applications. It can be more acceptable for the complex facilities composed with many processes which require longer rails, because of simple rail structure. The test setup consists of a test vehicle and a rounded rail, in which the vehicle can load and unload products at arbitrary position commanded through wireless communications of host computer. The experimental results show that the suggested vehicle and rail have reasonable traction servo and robust electromagnetic suspensions without any contact. The resolution of point servo errors in the SLIM traction system is accomplished under 1mm. The maximum gap error is ${\pm}0.25mm$ with nominal air gap length of 4.0mm in the electromagnetic suspensions. This type of automated delivery vehicle is expected to have significant role in the clean delivery like FPD glass delivery.

On the Design of Cantilever Type High Speed Towing Carriage with Excellent Acceleration Performance (가속성능이 우수한 외팔보형 고속예인전차의 설계)

  • Extraordinarily the establishment of towing tank has been initiated after the allocation of space at the basement floor of existing building through remodeling procedure. Therefore the asymmetric tank should be unavoidably determined by compromising with the allowable space and existing building structure. Consequently the shape of towing carriage ought to be selected as a cantilever type to match with the given environmental conditions. Finally the major role of the towing tank has been configured on the fundamental research work for the high speed marine vehicles. Due to the limited length of towing tank, it is appeared that the carriage should accelerated with 1.2m/sec2 which is equivalent to twice of the maximum acceleration in ordinary practices on design application of carriage. In such a condition the exerted total power of motor could not be converted to traction force of the carriage without slip for the acceleration. To overcome these difficulties the contact pressure of a horizontal traction wheel to rail has been reinforced by the elastic recovery force of springs on supporting rollers. It is believed that the design experience of the high speed towing carriage under unusual circumferential condition and acceleration barrier could be utilized not only on the design of high speed towing carriage but also on the improvement of existing facilities.

  • This study investigates the design factors of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) which is applied to Hybrid electric vehicle as a driving power. Recently, there are many studies of IPMSM for application to Hybrid Electric Vehicle, because IPMSM has characteristics of high torque, high power density and high efficiency which come from reluctance torque due to difference of inductance as well as magnet torque. This study analyzes the inductance and design characteristics of IPMSM by using finite element method and focuses on design and analysis of IPMSM which can operates with high efficiency at low speed range. For this embodiment, magnet shape is changed from conventional block type to arc type without any change of outline dimension of motor and this change of magnet shape makes it possible to increase back EMF and sinusoidal waveform. Analysis results are verified by test of improved and embodied motor. As a test result , increased back EMF and sharply decrease of harmonics are secured and through this contribution of reduced fuel consumption of Hybrid electric vehicle is expected.

A Hybrid CBPWM Scheme for Single-Phase Three-Level Converters

  • A novel hybrid carrier-based pulse width modulation (CBPWM) scheme that combines unipolar and dipolar modulations is proposed for single-phase three-level rectifiers, which are widely applied in railway traction drive systems. The proposed CBPWM method can satisfy the volt-second balancing principle in the complete modulation index region through overmodulation compensation. The modulation scheme features two modulation modes: unipolar and dipolar. The operation range limits of these modulation modes can be modified by changing the separation coefficient. In comparison with the traditional unipolar CBPWM, the proposed hybrid CBPWM scheme can provide advantageous features, such as lower high-order harmonic distortion of the line current and better utilization of switching frequency. The separation coefficient value is optimized to achieve the maximum utilization of these advantages. The experimental results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed hybrid CBPWM scheme.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the influences of virtual hitch point (VHP) positions of a three-point hitch on the steering stability of agricultural tractors. The VHP locations were determined analytically from the linkage geometry and implement posture during the normal tillage operations. The maximum force applicable to the VHP was also determined under the given soil and power constraints. From these possible ranges of the VHP locations, a safe region for steering control was determined theoretically by using maximum applicable forces for the given tractor and implement combinations. With VHP positions within the safe region, tractor can maintain the minimum soil reaction forces, assumed 20% of the total tractor weight in this study, at the front wheels which is required for the steering control under the maximum traction conditions. This paper mainly concerns with mathematical developments for the determination of VHP locations and maximum forces applicable to the VHP for steering control. Experimental validation of the theory developed here follows as the second part of this study.

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications.   • This study was carried out about the design and the performance study of propulsion system for Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The propulsion system was studied to two parts the formation of power transmission and the performance of traction system base on Korean-TGV. For maximum operating speed of 350km/h at Seoul-Pusan high speed line, the power of train should be have the remaining acceleration of 0.058m/s/s and the slopeability of 6%o. This performance study of propulsion system would be continued for defining of adhesion factor, friction factor and aerodynamic factor assumed to analysis and simulation.

A dP/dV Feedback-Controlled MPPT Method for Photovoltaic Power System Using II-SEPIC

  • A dP/dV feedback-controlled MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) method for photovoltaic power systems using II-SEPIC (Isolated Inverse-SEPIC; Single Ended Primary Inductance Converter) is presented and a current-mode dP/dV feedback-controlled MPPT method is devised to apply for the PV power converter system. A control strategy for the current-mode dP/dV feedback control system is developed in this paper and the proposed MPPT shows relatively satisfactory dynamics against rapidly changing insolation conditions. In order to verify the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations and experiments of the PV power system using II-SEPlC converter are performed. These simulation and experiment results show that the proposed method enables the PV power system to extract maximum power from the photovoltaic module against the solar insolation variation.

Acute Occlusal Change Following Acute Anterior Disc Displacement without Reduction: A Case Report (급성 비정복성 관절원판 변위에 따른 급성 교합변화의 증례)

  • A 35 year-old female presented with the complaint of sudden occurrence of bite change and concurrent opening limitation, as well as pain in the right temporomandibular joint (TMJ) during mouth opening. From her history it was revealed that she had simple clicking of right TMJ for several years before onset of these symptoms, and that the clicking sound subsided recently after development of opening limitation. On clinical examination, anterior open bite, midline shift of the mandible to right, and premature contacts on left posterior teeth were observed. Maximum mouth opening and lateral movement to left were also restricted. On magnetic resonance images, the right TMJ showed anterior disc displacement without reduction and the posterior joint space is greatly collapsed by retrusion of the condyle. It was thought that the sudden occurrence of occlusal change would be resulted from abrupt displacement of the mandible associated with development of the anterior disc displacement without reduction. The stabilization appliance traction therapy was performed initially for first 3 months along with physical and pharmacologic therapy. However, the anterior open bite and opening limitation didn't resolve and the position of mandible still remained altered. So the stabilization appliance was changed to intermaxillary traction device. Then the mandible returned progressively to normal position and the occlusion became more stable and comfortable. After 5 months of intermaxillary traction therapy, the anterior open bite was dissolved completely and the occlusion became stabilized satisfactorily along with recovery of normal mouth opening range. On post-treatment magnetic resonance image, remodeling of condylar head was observed.
