  • For a nondegenerate irreducible projective variety, it is a classical problem to describe its defining equations and the syzygies among them. In this paper, we precisely determine a minimal generating set and the minimal free resolution of defining ideals of some rational curves of maximal genus in ℙ3.

  • In this paper, we give topological properties of collection of prime ideals in 2-primal near-rings. We show that Spec(N), the spectrum of prime ideals, is a compact space, and Max(N), the maximal ideals of N, forms a compact $T_1$-subspace. We also study the zero-divisor graph $\Gamma_I$(R) with respect to the completely semiprime ideal I of N. We show that ${\Gamma}_{\mathbb{P}}$ (R), where $\mathbb{P}$ is a prime radical of N, is a connected graph with diameter less than or equal to 3. We characterize all cycles in the graph ${\Gamma}_{\mathbb{P}}$ (R).

  • Throughout this paper, all rings are assumed to be commutative with identity. By a local ring (R, m), we mean a Noetherian ring R which has the unique maximal ideal m. By dim(R) we always mean the Krull dimension of R. Let I be an ideal in a ring R and t an indeterminate over R. Then the Rees algebra R[It] is defined to be(omitted)

  • Commutative rings in which every prime ideal is an intersection of maximal ideals are called Hilbert (or Jacobson) rings. We propose to define classical Hilbert modules by the property that classical prime submodules are intersections of maximal submodules. It is shown that all co-semisimple modules as well as all Artinian modules are classical Hilbert modules. Also, every module over a zero-dimensional ring is classical Hilbert. Results illustrating connections amongst the notions of classical Hilbert module and Hilbert ring are also provided. Rings R over which all modules are classical Hilbert are characterized. Furthermore, we determine the Noetherian rings R for which all finitely generated R-modules are classical Hilbert.

  • In this paper, we propose a new discrete logarithm problem(DLP) based on the class semigroups of imaginary quadratic non-maximal orders using the special character of non-invertible ideal and analysis its security. To do this, we first explain the mathematical background explicitly and prove some properties of Cls (O) which relate to constructing the DLP and guaranteeing the security. To test the security of the proposed DLP, we compare the class number of the maximal order with that of the non-maximal order and investigate the unique factorization problems of ideals between class groups of the maximal orders and class semigroups of non-maximal orders to ensure the security of the cryptosystem.

  • Let R be a commutative noetherian ring with 1.neq.0, denoting by .nu.(I) the cardinality of a minimal basis of the ideal I. Let A be a polynomial ring in n>0 variables with coefficients in R, and let M be a maximal ideal of A. Generally it is shown that .nu.(M $A_{M}$).leq..nu.(M).leq..nu.(M $A_{M}$)+1. It is well known that the lower bound is not always satisfied, and the most classical examples occur in nonfactional Dedekind domains. But in many cases, (e.g., A is a polynomial ring whose coefficient ring is a field) the lower bound is attained. In [2] and [3], the conditions when the lower bound is satisfied is investigated. Especially in [3], it is shown that .nu.(M)=.nu.(M $A_{M}$) if M.cap.R=p is a maximal ideal or $A_{M}$ (equivalently $R_{p}$) is not regular or n>1. Hence the problem of determining whether .nu.(M)=.nu.(M $A_{M}$) can be studied when p is not maximal, $A_{M}$ is regular and n=1. The purpose of this note is to provide some conditions in which the lower bound is satisfied, when n=1 and R is a regular local ring (hence $A_{M}$ is regular)./ is regular).

  • The purpose of this paper is to compute the number of semistar operations of certain classes of finite dimensional $Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ domains. We prove that ${\mid}SStar(R){\mid}={\mid}Star(R){\mid}+{\mid}Spec(R){\mid}+ {\mid}Idem(R){\mid}$ where Idem(R) is the set of all nonzero idempotent prime ideals of R if and only if R is a $Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ domain with Y -graph spectrum, that is, R is a $Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ domain with exactly two maximal ideals M and N and $Spec(R)=\{(0){\varsubsetneq}P_1{\varsubsetneq}{\cdots}{\varsubsetneq}P_{n-1}{\varsubsetneq}M,N{\mid}P_{n-1}{\varsubsetneq}N\}$. We also characterize non-local $Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ domains R such that ${\mid}SStar(R){\mid}=7$, respectively ${\mid}SStar(R){\mid}=14$.

  • For a locally compact Abelian group G, and a commutative Banach algebra B, let $L^1$(G, B) be the Banach algebra of all Bochner integrable functions. We show that if G is noncompact and B is a semiprime Banach algebras in which every minimal prime ideal is cnotained in a regular maximal ideal, then $L^1$(G, B) contains no nontrivial separating idal. As a consequence we deduce some automatic continuity results for $L^1$(G, B).
