COMPLETE CONVERGENCE FOR WEIGHTED SUMS OF AANA RANDOM VARIABLES AND ITS APPLICATION IN NONPARAMETRIC REGRESSION MODELS

  • In this paper, we main study the strong law of large numbers and complete convergence for weighted sums of asymptotically almost negatively associated (AANA, in short) random variables, by using the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type moment inequality and Roenthal type moment inequality for AANA random variables. As an application, the complete consistency for the weighted linear estimator of nonparametric regression models based on AANA errors is obtained. Finally, some numerical simulations are carried out to verify the validity of our theoretical result.

  • In this paper we consider the equality sign as a mathematical concept and investigate its meaning, errors made by students, and subject matter knowledge of mathematics teacher in view of The Model of Mathematic al Concept Analysis, arithmetic-algebraic thinking, and some examples. The equality sign = is a symbol most frequently used in school mathematics. But its meanings vary accor ding to situations where it is used, say, objects placed on both sides, and involve not only ordinary meanings but also mathematical ideas. The Model of Mathematical Concept Analysis in school mathematics consists of Ordinary meaning, Mathematical idea, Representation, and their relationships. To understand a mathematical concept means to understand its ordinary meanings, mathematical ideas immanent in it, its various representations, and their relationships. Like other concepts in school mathematics, the equality sign should be also understood and analysed in vie w of a mathematical concept.

  • In this paper we provide sufficient conditions which ensure the strong consistency of $L_p$-norm estimation in nonlinear regression model when the probability distribution of the errors term is symmetric about zero. The least absolute deviation and least square estimation are discussed as special cases of the proposed estimation.

고등학교 기하와 벡터 과목에서 풀이과정 서술의 오류 분석 (An Analysis of Errors in Describing Solving Process for High School Geometry and Vectors)

  • By analysing the examination papers from third grade high school students, we classified the errors occurred in the problem solving process of high school 'Geometry and Vectors' into several types. There are five main types - (A)Insufficient Content Knowledge, (B)Wrong Method, (C)Logical Invalidity, (D)Unskilled Expression and (E)Interference.. Type A and B lead to an incorrect answer, and type C and D cannot be distinguished by multiple-choice or closed answer questions. Some of these types are classified into subtypes - (B1)Incompletion, (B2)Omitted Condition, (B3)Incorrect Calculation, (C1)Non-reasoning, (C2)Insufficient Reasoning, (C3)Illogical Process, (D1)Arbitrary Symbol, (D2)Using a Character Without Explanation, (D3) Visual Dependence, (D4)Symbol Incorrectly Used, (D5)Ambiguous Expression. Based on the these types of errors, answers of each problem was analysed in detail, and proper ways to correct or prevent these errors were suggested case by case. When problems that were used in the periodical test were given again in descriptive forms, 67% of the students tried to answer, and 14% described flawlessly, despite that the percentage of correct answers were higher than 40% when given in multiple-choice form. 34% of the students who tried to answer have failed to have logical validity. 37% of the students who tried to answer didn't have enough skill to express. In lessons on curves of secondary degree, teachers should be aware of several issues. Students are easily confused between 'focus' and 'vertex', and between 'components of a vector' and 'coordinates of a point'. Students often use an undefined expression when mentioning a parallel translation. When using a character, students have to make sure to define it precisely, to prevent the students from making errors and to make them express in correct ways.

수학 문장제 해결과 관련한 ChatGPT의 교수학적 활용 방안 모색 (A study on the didactical application of ChatGPT for mathematical word problem solving)

  • 최근 인공지능 언어 모델의 다양한 활용에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 수학교육에서의 교수학적 활용 방안 모색에 대한 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 인공지능 언어 모델은 자연어 처리가 가능하다는 특징으로 인하여 수학 문장제 해결과 관련된 활용이 기대된다. 인공지능 언어 모델 중 하나인 ChatGPT의 성능을 확인하기 위하여 초등학교 교과서에 제시된 문장제를 해결하도록 지시하였으며 풀이 과정 및 오류를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 인공지능 언어 모델은 81.08%의 정답률을 나타내었으며 문제 이해 오류, 식 수립 오류, 계산 오류 등이 발생하였다. 이러한 문장제 해결 과정 및 오류 유형의 분석을 바탕으로 인공지능 언어 모델의 교수학적 활용 방안과 관련된 시사점을 제안하였다.

  • Airborne LIDAR systems have been increasingly used for various applications as an effective surveying mean that can be complementary or alternative to the traditional one based on aerial photos. A LIDAR system is a multi-sensor system consisting of GPS, INS, and a laser scanner and hence the errors associated with the LIDAR data can be significantly affected by not only the errors associated with each individual sensor but also the errors involved in combining these sensors. The analysis about these errors have been performed by some researchers but yet insufficient so that the results can be critically contributed to performing accurate calibration of LIDAR data. In this study, we thus analyze these error sources, derive their mathematical models and perform the sensitivity analysis to assess how significantly each error affects the LIDAR data. The results from this sensitivity analysis in particular can be effectively used to determine the main parameters modelling the systematic errors associated with the LIDAR data for their calibration.

  • If the control force designed on the basis of the mathematical model with parameter errors is applied to control the actual system, the closed-loop performance of the actual system will be degraded depending on the degree of the errors, In this study, the effect of parameter errors on the robustness of several natural controls has been analyzed and compared. Every asymptoic stability condition for the natural controls has been derived using Lyapunov approach, and the characteristics of the stability conditions has also been compared. The extent of deviation of the closed-loop performance from the designed one for the natural controls is derived using operator techniques, and evaluated by numerical method. It has been found that the optimal control, acceleration feedback control, and acceleration-position feedback control among the considered natural controls would be robust one with respect to the parameter errors.

GNSS Error Generation Simulator for Signal Quality Monitoring of KASS

  • In this paper, a GNSS error generation simulator for Signal Quality Monitoring (SQM) is implemented by using Matlab based on mathematical models derived from the effect of GNSS signal and measurement errors. The GNSS signal measurement errors of interest in this paper include three cases such as Evil Wave Form (EWF), Multipath (MP) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). In order to verify the validity of the generated measurement errors, a simple form of metrics for detecting and monitoring GNSS errors is included in the simulator. The GNSS errors generated by the simulator are added to the GNSS measurement data from commercial GNSS receiver in real time, and then, the SQM is tested for various scenarios of each case configured by scenario setting of the user.

실생활 문장제의 해결과정에 나타나는 오류유형 분석 (The analysis of mathematics error type that appears from the process of solving problem related to real life)

  • 학생들이 문장으로 이루어진 문제를 해결과정에서 발생하는 오류의 유형을 분류하고, 각각의 오류 유형을 보인 학생들의 면담(인터뷰)을 통하여 오류를 범하게 된 요인을 분석하였다. 연구결과에 따라 나타난 대표적인 오류 유형은 '문항 이해의 부족', '풀이과정의 오류', '정리나 정의에 대한 왜곡된 이해', '이기과정의 오류', '기술적 오류', '풀이과정 생략' 등으로 나타났다. 또한 일부 학생들은 문장제에 대한 부담감으로 문제를 해결하기보다는 포기하는 현상이 나타났으며, 학생들은 문장으로 이루어진 문제를 해결을 하기 위해서 무엇보다 문제에 대한 이해가 필요한데, 이 부분이 절대적으로 부족하여 문제에서 주어진 자료를 자의적으로 판단하고 활용하는 경향이 짙게 보였다. 교사는 학생들이 문장제 문제 해결과정에서 발생하는 오류를 미리 파악하고 이를 보안할 수 있는 교수-학습방법으로 학생들을 지도한다면 오류를 사전에 예방하여 발생빈도를 줄일 수 있고, 학생들로 하여금 효과적인 학습이 이루어 질 수 있을 것이다.
