탄소계 경질 박막의 연구 및 산업 적용 동향 (Trend in Research and Application of Hard Carbon-based Thin Films)

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) is a convenient term to indicate the compositions of the various forms of amorphous carbon (a-C), tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), hydrogenated amorphous carbon and tetrahedral amorphous carbon (a-C:H and ta-C:H). The a-C film with disordered graphitic ordering, such as soot, chars, glassy carbon, and evaporated a-C, is shown in the lower left hand corner. If the fraction of sp3 bonding reaches a high degree, such an a-C is denoted as tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), in order to distinguish it from sp2 a-C [2]. Two hydrocarbon polymers, that is, polyethylene (CH2)n and polyacetylene (CH)n, define the limits of the triangle in the right hand corner beyond which interconnecting C-C networks do not form, and only strait-chain molecules are formed. The DLC films, i.e. a-C, ta-C, a-C:H and ta-C:H, have some extreme properties similar to diamond, such as hardness, elastic modulus and chemical inertness. These films are great advantages for many applications. One of the most important applications of the carbon-based films is the coating for magnetic hard disk recording. The second successful application is wear protective and antireflective films for IR windows. The third application is wear protection of bearings and sliding friction parts. The fourth is precision gages for the automotive industry. Recently, exciting ongoing study [1] tries to deposit a carbon-based protective film on engine parts (e.g. engine cylinders and pistons) taking into account not only low friction and wear, but also self lubricating properties. Reduction of the oil consumption is expected. Currently, for an additional application field, the carbon-based films are extensively studied as excellent candidates for biocompatible films on biomedical implants. The carbon-based films consist of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen, which are biologically harmless as well as the main elements of human body. Some in vitro and limited in vivo studies on the biological effects of carbon-based films have been studied [$2{\sim}5$].The carbon-based films have great potentials in many fields. However, a few technological issues for carbon-based film are still needed to be studied to improve the applicability. Aisenberg and Chabot [3] firstly prepared an amorphous carbon film on substrates remained at room temperature using a beam of carbon ions produced using argon plasma. Spencer et al. [4] had subsequently developed this field. Many deposition techniques for DLC films have been developed to increase the fraction of sp3 bonding in the films. The a-C films have been prepared by a variety of deposition methods such as ion plating, DC or RF sputtering, RF or DC plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition (ECR-CVD), ion implantation, ablation, pulsed laser deposition and cathodic arc deposition, from a variety of carbon target or gaseous sources materials [5]. Sputtering is the most common deposition method for a-C film. Deposited films by these plasma methods, such as plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) [6], are ranged into the interior of the triangle. Application fields of DLC films investigated from papers. Many papers purposed to apply for tribology due to the carbon-based films of low friction and wear resistance. Figure 1 shows the percentage of DLC research interest for application field. The biggest portion is tribology field. It is occupied 57%. Second, biomedical field hold 14%. Nowadays, biomedical field is took notice in many countries and significantly increased the research papers. DLC films actually applied to many industries in 2005 as shown figure 2. The most applied fields are mold and machinery industries. It took over 50%. The automobile industry is more and more increase application parts.   • 오늘날 자동차 산업에서 가장 대두되고 있는 충돌 안전성과 배기가스의 감축을 위해서 dual phase 강, ferrite bainite 강 등의 고강도 강판이 개발 되었다. 이러한 강재는 주로 차체 구조부에 적용되며, 적용시에 차체 구조부가 가져야 하는 강도와 디자인 적인 측면에서 사용자의 요구에 맞추기 위하여 홀 플랜징 가공이 자주 사용된다. 이때 재료의 성형성을 알아보기 위한 홀 확장성 평가가 수행된다. 홀 확장실험에서는 크랙 생성 전후의 하중의 차이가 매우 작기 때문에, 단축 인장 시험에서와 같이 하중의 변화로 크랙 발생 유무를 판단하기가 쉽지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존의 홀 확장성 평가에서 사람의 눈으로 크랙의 발생 유무를 판단하는 방법의 부정확성을 보완하기 위해 CCD 카메라를 이용하여 크랙의 발생 유무를 판단하는 시스템을 개발하였다.

전시의상(展示衣裳)에 활용(活用)된 한국적(韓國的) 이미지의 외적형식(外的形式)에 대한 실태조사(實態調査) (Research on the External form of Korean images used in Exhibition clothing)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze designs of exhibition clothing in terms of the use of Korean image, to review objectively contents about the use of traditional image, understand external elements of works, and give directions and basic data for future works. This study selected the total 250 works as the subject of this study among the collected data. This study classified and examined the use of Korean image found in exhibition clothing according to period, item, line and form, material, technique of expression and accessary between 1996 and 2004. The results of analysis are as follows (1) The most artworks were comprised in adaptation were Choson costume. (2) Most of them were clothing works for female. The item of chima were the most preferred in use. (3) The straight lines are used more frequently than curved lines. Forms of skirts were applied to those of silhouettes, H and A form were common. (4) In terms of materials, traditional materials such as silk, linen and cotton were commonly used. (5) Geometric patterns and plant pattern were found more often than others. (6) In terms of techniques of expression, patchwork was most frequent, quilting, embroidery and pleating were ranked second, third and fourth. (7) In accessaries and other item, gorom were most common and norigae were ranked second. (8) As Korean image has been expressed by fine parts of traditional costumes, the traditional living item, and local symbols, the range of works are becoming wider.

초정밀 가공기용 마이크로 스테이지의 힌지 형상과 재질 변화에 따른 안정성 해석 (Stability Analysis of a Micro Stage for Micro Cutting Machine with Various Hinge Type and Material Transformation)

  • Recently, the world are preparing for new revolution, called as If (Information Technology), NT (Nano-Technology), and BT (Bio-Technology). NT can be applied to various fields such as semiconductor-micro technology. Ultra precision processing is required for NT in the field of mechanical engineering. Recently, together with radical advancement of electronic and photonics industry, necessity of ultra precision processing is on the increase for the manufacture of various kernel parts. Therefore, in this paper, stability of ultra precision cutting unit is investigated, this unit is the kernel unit in ultra precision processing machine. According to alteration of shape and material about hinge, stability investigation is performed. In this paper, hinge shapes of micro stage in UPCU(Ultra Precision Cutting Unit) are designed as two types, where, hinge shapes are composed of round and rectangularity. Elasticity and strength are analyzed about micro stage, according to hinge shapes, by FE analysis. Micro stage in ultra precision processing machine has to keep hinge shape under cutting condition with 3-component force (cutting component, axial component, radial component) and to reduce modification against cutting force. Then we investigated its elasticity and its strength against these conditions. Material of micro stage is generally used to duralumin with small thermal deformation. But, stability of micro stage is investigated, according to elasticity and strength due to various materials, by FE analysis. Where, Used materials are composed of aluminum of low strength and cooper of medium strength and spring steel of high strength. Through this stability investigation, trial and error is reduced in design and manufacture, at the same time, we are accumulated foundation data for unit control.

A Study on the Electrical Characteristics of Different Wire Materials

  • Gold wire has long been used as a proven method of connecting a silicon die to a substrate in wide variety of package types, delivering high yield and productivity. However, with the high price of gold, the semiconductor packaging industry has been implementing an alternate wire material. These materials may include silver (Ag) or copper (Cu) alloys as an alternative to save material cost and maintain electrical performance. This paper will analyze and compare the electrical characteristics of several wire types. For the study, typical 0.6 mil, 0.8 mil and 1.0 mil diameter wires were selected from various alloy types (2N gold, Palladium (Pd) coated/doped copper, 88% and 96% silver) as well as respective pure metallic wires for comparison. Each wire model was validated by comparing it to electromagnetic simulation results and measurement data. Measurements from the implemented test boards were done using a vector network analyzer (VNA) and probe station setup. The test board layout consisted of three parts: 1. Analysis of the diameter, length and material characteristic of each wire; 2. Comparison between a microstrip line and the wire to microstrip line transition; and 3. Analysis of the wire's cross-talk. These areas will be discussed in detail along with all the extracted results from each type the wire.

한랭환경하에서 운동발한시 인체의 체온조절반응에 대한 내의소재의 생리학적 의의 (Physiological Effects of Different Underwear Materials Thermoregulatory Response during Exercise with Sweating at Cold Environments)

  • This study conducted 4 different kinds of underwear materials, which were A (Cotton 100%), B (Wool 100%), C (Cotton/Wool, 50/50%) and D (Acrylic/Cotton, 50/50%) and were done in a climate chamber under cold ambient $10{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $40{\pm}5%RH$ by 6 male subjects who were in good health. Physiological parameters such as rectal and local skin temperature(forehead, forearm, hand, trunk, thigh, leg, foot, back and chest), heart rate, body weight loss, clothing microclimate, blood lactic acid concentration, and wearing sensation were measured. Started with a 15-min rest period, 15-min of exercise 1 (the condition of 4.5 mile/hr walking speed equivalent to with 8.5 Kcal energy consumption on the treadmill) period, 15-min rest period, exercise 2 (after 3minutes warming-up at 3.0. 3.7, 4.5. 5.2. 6.0, 6.7 mile/hr) until exhaustion period, and final 15-min of recovery period were performed. The results were as follows: The lowest mean skin temperature was acrylic/cotton in order of wool > cotton/wool > cotton > acrylic/cotton (F=13. 79. p<0.00l). Most of all skin temperature by parts of body had turned out in sequence of temperature wool > cotton/wool > acrylic/cotton > cotton. Fore arm part showed highest temperature about $32.43^{\circ}C$ on wool and had a tendency approximately $1.8^{\circ}C$ higher than cotton which had the lowest temperature, and had the biggest difference among garments in terms of skin temperature. The back temperature within clothing showed about $2^{\circ}C$ higher than the chest temperature within clothing. but the back humidity within clothing showed about 4~12% higher than the chest humidity within clothing. Body weight loss by each garment was this sequence; cotton > acrylic/cotton > wool > cotton/wool.

수지이동 성형공정에서 섬유직조망내의 수지유동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Resin Flow through Fibrous Preforms in the Resin Transfer Molding Process)

  • 고분자 복합재료 제조공정인 수지이동성형(RTM) 공정은 최근 들어서 고성능 재료를 필요로 하는 항공산업분야에서 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유한요소/관할부피 기법을 도입한 수치모사를 통해서 수지이동 성형공정에서의 금형충전단계를 해석하였다. 섬유직조망의 투과계수를 정량적으로 측정하고, 또한 수치모사에 이용된 프로그램을 검증하기 위하여 유동가시화 실험을 수행하였다. 실험에 사용된 강화섬유와 수지물질로는 여러 가지 형태의 섬유직조망과 실리콘 기름을 선택하였다. 수치모사와 유동가시화 실험을 병행함으로써 섬유직조망의 구조, 금형의 구조, 금형삽입체가 금형충전단계에서의 수지 유동선단의 형태에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 모델링에 의해 예측된 유동선단은유동가시화 실험을 통해 관찰된 결과와 잘 일치한 것으로 나타났으나, 금형내 불균일한 섬유부피분율로 인해 섬유조직망의 투과계수가 전 영역에서 일정한 값을 가지지 못하기 때문에 약간의 차이를 보여주었다. 원형의 구조물이 금형내에 삽입되어 있는 경우, 월드라인의 위치를 예측된 유동선단으로부터 정성적으로 추정할 수 있었다.

35㎛ 점탄성수지가 적용된 1.035mm 제진강판의 이종소재간 저항점용접 특성분석 (Characteristic Analysis of Resistance Spot Welding between Dissimilar Materials of 1.035mm Laminated Vibration Damping Steel with 35㎛ Viscoelastic Resin)

  • Recently, owing to the high demand for eco-friendly cars in the automotive industry, noise and vibrations have become major challenges. The use of laminated damping steel is increasing in response to these demands. Laminated damping steel is primarily used in sound insulation plates. The vibration energy is converted into thermal energy due to the viscoelastic resin being located between two steel sheets and being able to damp the vibrations when an external force, such as, noise or vibration is applied to the steel plate. Laminated damping steel is chiefly applied to dash panels in automotive body parts, and because of its structure, junction technology for bonding with other components is necessary. However, there has not been sufficient research conducted on junctions. In this study, regardless of the electrode shape, in the range of 4.0 ~ 8.0 kA welding current, the same welding force and welding time were applied which were 2.8 kN and 200 m/s (12 cycles) and the tensile shear load and nugget size were analyzed after the resistance spot welding between different materials of laminated damping steel with a thickness of 1.035 mm. The results show that in the range of 5 ~ 8 kA welding current, 1.035 mm laminated damping steel meets the MS181-15 standard, which is the technical standard of Hyundai-Kia Motors.

구조 및 NVH 성능을 고려한 복합재료 서브프레임 개발 (Development of Lightweight Composite Sub-frame in Automotive Chassis Parts Considering Structure & NVH Performance)

  • 최근 환경 규제에 의하여 자동차 업계는 차량의 연비를 높이기 위해서 복합소재를 활용한 경량화 연구가 다양하게 진행되고 있다. 하지만 샤시계 부품들은 복합소재를 활용한 경량화 연구가 미진하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 샤시계 부품 중 서브프레임에 복합재료를 활용하여 스틸 동등 수준의 강성, 강도 그리고 NVH 성능과, 50%의 경량화를 이끌어 내는 것이 목표다. 우선, 복합재료의 Damping 특성을 확인하기 위하여, 스틸과 복합재료 시편을 활용하여 고유 진동수를 1차 비교하였다. 본격적으로 서브프레임 개발에 들어가 강성, 강도를 극대화 할 수 있는 Lay-up Sequence를 제시하였고, 제작과정 중 경화에 의한 열 수축을 피할 수 있는 Lay-up Sequence를 제시하였다. 이 과정은 구조해석을 바탕으로 설계를 하였고, Modal 해석을 바탕으로 고유 진동수와 주파수 응답 그래프를 확인하였다. 설계 안을 바탕으로 프로토 타입 서브프레임을 제작하였고 단품 모달 실험을 통하여 구조해석 설계 안을 검증하였다. 나아가서 실차에 장착하여 공진점 확인 및 아이들링, 로드 노이즈 포함하여 실내 소음 진동 응답 비교를 하였고, 기존 스틸 서브프레임과 동등한 수준의 성능임을 확인하였다. 최종적으로 경량화는 기존 부품 대비 약 50% 무게 경량화 효과를 확인하였다.

WELD REPAIR OF GAS TURBINE HOT END COMPONENTS

  • Ni-base superalloys are used extensively in industry, both in aeroengines and land based turbines. About 60% by weight of most modern gas turbine engine structural components are made of Ni-base superalloys. To satisfy practical demands, the efficiency of gas turbine engines has been steadily and systematically increased by design modifications to handle higher turbine inlet or firing temperatures. However, the increase in operating temperatures has lead to a decrease in the life of components and increase in costs of replacement. Moreover, around 80% of the large frame size industrial/utility gas turbines operating in the world today were installed in the mid-sixties to early seventies and are now 25 to 30 years old. Consequently, there are greater opportunities now to repair and refurbish the older models. Basically, there are two major factors influencing the weldability of the cast alloys: strain-age cracking and liquation cracking. Susceptibility to strain-age cracking is due to the total Ti plus AI content of the alloy; Liquation cracking is due either to the presence of low melting constituents or constitutional liquation of constituents. Though Rene 41 superalloy has 4.5wt.% total Ti and Al content and falls just below the safe limit proposed by Prager et al., controlled grain size and special heat treatments are needed to obtain crack-free welds. Varying heat treatments and filler materials were used in a laboratory study, then the actual welding of service parts was carried out to verity the possibility of crack-tree weld of components fabricated from Rene 41 superalloy. The microstructural observations indicated that there were two kinds of carbides in the FCC matrix. MC carbides were located along the grain boundaries, while M$_{23}$C$_{6}$ carbide was located both inter and intra granularly. Two kinds of filler materials, Rene 41 and Hastelloy X were used to gas tungsten arc weld a patch into the sheet metal, along with varying pre-weld heat treatments. The microstructure, hardness and tensile tests were determined. The service distressed parts were categorized into three classes: with large cracks, with medium cracks and with small or no visible cracks. No significant difference in microstructure among the specimens was observed. Specimens were cut from the corner and the straight edge of the patch repair, away from the corner. The only cracks present were found to be associated with inadequate surface preparation to remove oxidation. Guidelines for oxide removal and the welding procedures developed in the research enabled crack-free welds to be produced.d.
