  • This research describes a new constructing method of multifunctional biosensor using many kinds of biomaterials. A metal particle and an array was fabricated by photolithographic. Biomaterials were immobilized on the metal particle. The array and the particles were mixed in a buffer solution, and were arranged by magnetic force interaction and self-assembly. A quarter of total Ni dots were covered by the particles. The binding direction of the particles was controllable, and condition of particles was almost with Au surface on top. The particles were successfully arranged on the array. The biomaterial activities were detected by chemiluminescence and electrochemical methods.

  • This research analyzed procedural problems presented in academic writing faced by international students. The result of this research will serve as a basis for suggesting methods of developing a curriculum in Korean writing as a liberal arts education designed for international students. To analyze problems presented in academic writing by international students, the standard of assessment was divided into interaction, knowledge construction, and material quotation. Then, knowledge construction was divided into contents, structure, and expression, and the items were subdivided in each category. These categories of assessment correspond to the genre of academic writing and are different from the existing standard of assessment for academic writing. Applying these standards, this research analyzed 43 texts of academic writing in process for a final paper by international students in an class and presented problems in them. Furthermore, this paper aims to give detailed feedback that can help solve those problems.

  • The material processing of UV nanosecond pulse laser cannot be avoided the material shape change and contamination caused by interaction of base material and laser beam. Nowadays, ultra short pulse laser shorter than nanosecond pulse duration is used to overcome this problem. The advantages of this laser are no heat transfer, no splashing material, no left material to the adjacent material. Because of these characteristics, it is so suitable for micro material processing. The processing of sapphire wafer was done by UV 355nm, green 532nm, IR 1064nm. X-Y motorized stage is installed to investigate the proper laser beam irradiation speed and cycles. Also, laser beam fluence and peak power are calculated.

  • Recently, studies on orientation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) dispersed in nematic liquid crystal (LC) and CNTs effects on electro-optic characteristics of the LC device have been performed. In this paper, we summarize interaction nature between CNT and LC, local distortion of the LC director field by motion of CNTs, and effects on electro-optic performances of LC device.

  • In this paper, using the recently introduced analytical approach for the analysis of mass and heat transfer during film growth in reactors for epitaxy from the gas phase, these processes are analyzed taking into account natural convection and the possibility of changing the rate of chemical interaction between reagents. As a result of the analysis, the conditions under which the homogeneity of the grown epitaxial layers increases with a change in the values of the parameters of the growth process are formulated.

  • The nonlinear free vibration of a nanorod subjected to finite strain is investigated. The governing equation of motion in material configuration in terms of displacement is determined. By means of Galerkin method, the Fourier series solutions satisfying some typical boundary conditions are determined. The amplitude-frequency relationship and interaction between the modes are studied. The effects of nonlocal elasticity are shown for different length of nanotubes and nonlocal parameter. The results show that nonlocal effects lead to additional internal modal interaction for nanorod vibrations.

  • The second-order scattering (SOS) phenomenon of the interaction of Pd nanoparticles with protein was reported and a simple, sensitive, palladium nanoparticle-based assay for trace amount of protein with SOS technique was developed. The SOS intensities were significantly enhanced due to the interaction of Pd nanoparticles with bovine serum albumin (BSA) or human serum albumin (HSA) at pH 3.5 or 4.0, respectively. The maximum SOS peak appeared at 260/520 nm (λex/λem). The optimal experiment conditions, affecting factors and the influence of some coexisting substances were checked. The SOS intensity increased proportionally with the increase of Pd concentration below 3.0 × 10?5 mol·L?1, while declined gradually above 4.0 × 10?5 mol·L?1. BSA within the range of 0.01-2.6 μg·mL?1 and HSA of 0.01-1.7 μg·mL?1 can be detected with this method and the detection limits were 2.3 and 11.2 ng·mL?1, respectively. The method was successfully applied to the quantitative detection of total protein content in human serum samples with the maximum relative standard deviation (RSD) lower than 2.6% and the recoveries over the range of 99.5-100.5%.

  • Mesoporous MCM-41 gallosilicate material was synthesized through shifting through shifting gallosilicate polymer equilibrium towards a MCM-41 phase by addition of acid. The location of Cu(II) exchanged into MCM-41 and its interaction with various adsorbate molecules were investigated by electron spin responance and electron spin echo modulation spectroscopies. It was found that in the fresh hydrated material, Cu(II) is octahedrally coordinated to six water molecules. This species is located in a cylindrical channel and rotates rapidly at room temperature. Evacuation at room temperature removes three of these water molecules, leaving the Cu (II) coordinated to three water molecules and anchored to oxygens in the channel wall. Dehydration at 45$0^{\circ}C$ produces one Cu (II) species located in the inner surface of a channel as evidenced by broadening of its ESR lines by oxygen. Adsorption of polar molecules such as water, methanol and ammonia on dehydrated CuNa-MCM-41 gallosilicate material causes changes in the ESR spectrum of Cu (II), indicating the complex formation with these adsorbates. Cu (II) forms a complex with six molecules of methanol as evidenced by an isotropic room temperature ESR signal and ESEM data like upon water adsorption. Cu(II) also forms a complex containing four molecules of ammonia based on resolved nitrogen superhyperfine interaction.

  • PURPOSES : This paper evaluates, using LS/DYNA-3D software, the vehicle impact performance of flexible barriers made of steel W-Beam supported by four different types of post configurations. These types include circular post, H-shape post, C-shape post, and square post. METHODS : The post-soil interaction has been investigated according to different impact angles. For this purpose, energy absorption, maximum displacements of post and rail, and occupant risk index of THIV have been compared each other. The three dimensional soil material model, instead of the conventional spring model based on Winkler and p-y curve, has been used to increase the correctness of computational model. RESULTS : It is noted the crash energy absorption has been increased with respect to the increase of impact angle. CONCLUSIONS : In particular, a post with open section(H-shape, C-shape) shows the greater crash energy absorption capability as compared with a post with closed section under the same level of impact conditions.
