  • The energy absorbing characteristics of crash members in a car collision play an important role in controlling the amount of damage to the passenger compartment. Crash members filled with aluminum foam are expected to have reduced mass while maintaining or even improving the crashworthiness compared to the conventional hollow-beam types. Finite element simulations are carried out in the present work to assess the improvement of crashworthiness by the use of aluminum foam fillers. The numerical results agreed well with experimental measurements. Parametric studies are conducted to analyze the effect of impact velocity, weld strength, and initiator on the crash response.

  • MBM 110 is one of the molecular clouds at high Galactic latitude discovered by Magnani et al., and is one of a dozen cometary clouds in the Orion-Eridanus superbubble. We have conducted optical photometry and spectroscopy for a comprehensive study of the region. Recently released Gaia DR2 astrometric data as well as WISE mid-infrared data were used for the complete census of member stars. We select 17 member stars with $H{\alpha}$ emission and/or Li absorption. The total mass of stars in the region is only about $16M{\odot}$. We found that the star formation efficiency in the region is less than 5%. We discuss the origin of the cloud and the star formation history in MBM 110.

  • Cytochrome P450 2J2 (CYP2J2) is a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily, and is known to be arachidonic acid epoxygenase that mediates the formation of four bioactive regioisomers of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs). CYP2J2 is also involved in the metabolism of drugs such as albendazole, astemizole, danazol, ebastine, and terfenadine. CYP2J2 is highly expressed in the heart and cancer tissues. In this study, the inhibitory potential of ten natural products against CYP2J2 activity was evaluated using human liver microsomes and tandem mass spectrometry. Among them, bilobetin, which is a kind of biflavonoid, exhibits a strong inhibitory effect against the CYP2J2-mediated astemizole O-demethylation (IC50 = 0.73 μM) and terfenadine hydroxylation (IC50 = 0.89 μM). This result suggests that bilobetin can be used as strong CYP2J2 inhibitor in drug metabolism study.

  • In this study, the vertical pipe cooling method was developed to propose the pipe cooling method suited for the vertically long mass concrete structures. FEM (finite element method) analysis was carried out to investigate the validity of the vertical pipe cooling method, and the temperature, the behavior of tensile stress of concrete and the crack index were investigated. In result, it was confirmed that the vertical pipe cooling method was effective in the thermal cracking control of mass concrete member.

  • In this paper, we propose a technique that can be mapped to the most appropriate type of health patterns, depending on the health status of health promotion measures to establish a body mass index (BMI). When used as a mapping scheme proposed in this paper it is possible to contribute to effective healthcare and health promotion. BMI is widely used as a simple way to assess obesity because body fat increases the status and relevance. Despite normal weight determined by this and because of the social atmosphere has increased prefer the skinny tend to try to excessive weight loss. Since health can affect the health maintenance and promotion of the rest of your life, depending on whether and how much weight perception and health can be considered as very important. Therefore, this paper identifies the differences in perception and in this respect for the body mass index (BMI). And physical, mental and map the appropriate type of pattern in the relationship between body mass index (BMI) in order to facilitate the social and health conditions. Proposal to give such a mapping technique provides the opportunity to increase the efficiency of health care and health promotion.

  • In this research, considering the practical conditions at field, thermal cracking method was suggested based on the comparative analysis between predicted value and actual value obtained from the actual structure member with optimum mix design. The optimum mix design was deduced from the various mix designs with various proportions of cementitious binder for upper and lower placement lifts of mat-foundation mass concrete. Therefore, it can be stated that applying low heat mix design and different heating technique between upper and lower placement lifts for mass concrete are efficient to control the thermal cracking. As future issues, based on the interpretation result value, we will select the optimal combination that is applied specifically to the actual site, and deeply analyze the correlation between the measured value and the analysis value through the combination and the test of the actual structure.

  • Fibrofolliculoma is a benign tumor characterized by a smooth, dome-shaped papule of size 2-4 mm. Most fibrofolliculomas occur as multiple lesions, and very rarely, they are solitary. Herein, we report a case of solitary fibrofolliculoma found in the alar rim, without the typical characteristics of a fibrofolliculoma. A 42-year-old man visited the hospital with a protruding lesion that had occurred 1 year previously. A mass of size 5×7 mm was observed on the left alar rim. The tumor was dome-shaped and palpable. The patient did not have any similar lesions elsewhere. No family member was known to have such a lesion. An incisional biopsy was performed before surgery, and pathological examination revealed hyperkeratosis and dyskeratosis; however, an accurate diagnosis was not made. Complete resection was planned for the mass on the alar rim. The resected mass was subjected to permanent biopsy, and the pathological examination results led to the diagnosis of fibrofolliculoma. Therefore, when diagnosing a dome-shaped mass in the alar rim, despite the suspicion of a very rare disease, it is necessary to suspect fibrofolliculoma and consider the process from diagnostic examination to treatment.

  • In case of the slender mass concrete like attached wall, retaining wall and bridge tower, the low heat cement and the control joint are mainly used for thermal cracking control. However, even if these cracking control methods are considered, it is impossible to control thermal cracks perfectly, because the external restraint is largely in these mass concrete. Because these cracks occurring in slender mass concrete members almost penetrate concrete member, the special cracking control is demanded in these mass concretes. The vertical pipe cooling method improving existing pipe cooling method was developed for the active thermal cracking control of slender mass concrete, and applied at the field attached wall. In results, the maximum temperature dropped more than $10^{\circ}C$ by vertical pipe cooling method, and the cracks decreased about more than 50%.

  • A galaxy cluster is an important laboratory to study the large scale structure in the Universe and the galaxy evolution. In order to identify candidate galaxy clusters at z~1, we have used deep and wide optical-NIR datasets based on IMS, UKIDSS DXS and CFHTLS wide covering ${\sim}20deg^2$ in the SA22 field. We measure the angular two-point correlation function of the candidate clusters and investigate the star formation activity of the member galaxies. Based on bias factor and halo mass function, candidate clusters have the average halo mass of > $10^{14}h^{-1}M_{\odot}$. At z~1, the star formation rate of cluster galaxies is similar to that of field galaxies, which indicates the environmental quenching is not so significant at z~1 as the local Universe.
