  • In this paper, the Window-Masking Method and HAT (Hardware Attached Top) CPU SoM (System on Module) are used to improve the performance and reduce the weight of the MANET (Mobile Ad-hoc Network) network synchronization system using time division redundancy. We propose converting it into a RISC-V based soft-core MCU and mounting it on an FPGA, a hardware accelerator. It was also verified through experiment. In terms of performance, by applying the proposed technique, the synchronization acquisition range is from -50dBm to +10dBm to -60dBm to +10dBm, the lowest input level for synchronization is increased by 20% from -50dBm to -60dBm, and the detection delay (Latency) is 220ns. Reduced by 43% to 125ns. In terms of weight reduction, computing resources (48%), size (33%), and weight (27%) were reduced by an average of 36% by replacing with soft-core MCU.

  • We considered the problem for confirmation of multiple outliers and leverage points. Identification of multiple outliers and leverage points is difficult because of the masking effect and swamping effect. Rousseeuw and van Zomeren(1990) identified multiple outliers and leverage points by using the Least Median of Squares and Minimum Value of Ellipsoids which are high-breakdown robust estimators. But their methods tend to declare too many observations as extremes. Atkinson(1987) suggested a method for confirming of outliers and Fung(1993) pointed out Atkinson method's limitation and proposed another method by using the add-back model. But we analyzed that Fung's method is affected by adjacent effect. In this thesis, we proposed one procedure for confirmation of outliers and leverage points and compared three example with Fung's method.

  • The auditory thresholds for 7 specimens of the sharp toothed eel Muraensox cinerus were measured at 5 frequencies by heartbeat conditioning method using pure tones coupled with a delayed electric shock. The audible range of the sharp toothed eel extended from 80Hz to 300Hz with the best sensitivity around 80Hz and 100Hz. In addition, the auditory thresholds over 200Hz increased rapidly. The mean auditory thresholds of the sharp toothed eel at the test frequencies of 80Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz and 300Hz were 87dB, 86dB, 105dB and 126dB, respectively. Auditory masking was determined for the sharp toothed eel by using masking stimuli with the spectrum level range of about 70~80dB (0dB re $1{\mu}Pa/\sqrt{Hz}$). According to white noise level, the auditory thresholds increased as compared with thresholds in a quiet background noise. The noise spectrum level at the start of masking was distributed at the range of about 64dB within 80~100Hz. Critical ratio ranged from minimum 24dB to maximum 40dB at test frequencies of 80Hz~200Hz.

  • Monthly-mean aerosol parameters derived from the 1998-2004 SeaWiFS observations over East Asian waters are analyzed. SeaWiFS GAC Level 1 data covering the Northeast Asian area are collected and processed by the standard atmospheric correction algorithm released by the SeaWiFS Project to produce daily aerosol optical thickness (AOT) and ${{\AA}}ngstr{\ddot{o}}m$ exponent imageries. Monthly mean AOT and ${{\AA}}ngstr{\ddot{o}}m$ exponent values are extracted from the daily composite images for six study areas chosen from the surrounding waters of Japan. A slight increasing trend of ${{\AA}}ngstr{\ddot{o}}m$ exponent is found and interpreted as about 4-5% increase in submicron fraction of aerosol optical thickness at 550nm. Two cloud screening methods, including the standard cloud masking method of SeaWiFS and the one based on the local variance method, are applied to the SeaWiFS data processing, in an attempt to inspect the influence to the observed statistical uptrend which probably induced by different cloud mask algorithms. The variability comes from the different cloud masking algorithms are discussed.

  • Today, an automatic and accurate processing using computer is essential because of the rapid increase of travelers. The determination of forged passports plays an important role in the immigration control system. Hence, as the preprocessing phase for the determination of forged passports, this paper proposes a novel method for the recognition of passports based on the fuzzy binarization and the fuzzy RBF network. First, for the extraction of individual codes for recognizing, this paper targets code sequence blocks including individual codes by applying Sobel masking, horizontal smearing and a contour tracking algorithm on the passport image. Then the proposed method binarizes the extracted blocks using fuzzy binarization based on the trapezoid type membership function. Then, as the last step, individual codes are recovered and extracted from the binarized areas by applying CDM masking and vertical smearing. This paper also proposes an enhanced fuzzy RBF network that adapts the enhanced fuzzy ART network for the middle layer. This network is applied to the recognition of individual codes. The results of the experiments for performance evaluation on the real passport images showed that the proposed method has the better performance compared with other approaches.

  • In a noisy class, the acoustic-phonetic features of the teacher and the perceptual features of learners are changed comparison with a quiet environment. Acoustical analyses were carried out on a set of French monosyllables consisting of 17 consonants and three vowel /a, e, i/, produced by 1 male speaker talking in quiet and in 50, 60 and 70 dB SPL of masking noise on headphone. The results of the acoustic analyses showed consistent differences in energy and formant center frequency amplitude of consonants and vowels, $F_1$ frequency of vowel and duration of voiceless stops suggesting the increase of vocal effort. The perceptual experiments in which 18 undergraduate female students learning French served as the subjects, were conducted in quiet and in 50, 60 dB of masking noise. The identification scores on consonants were higher in Lombard speech than in normal speech, suggesting that the speaker's vocal effort is useful to overcome the masking effect of noise. And, with increased noise level, the perceptual response to the French consonants given had a tendency to be complex and the subjective reaction score on the noise using the vocabulary representative of 'unpleasant' sensation to be higher. And, in the point of view on the L2(second language) acquisition, the influence of L1 (first language) on L2 examined in the perceptual result supports the interference theory.

  • High resolution reconstruction technology is developed to help enhance the spatial resolution of observational images for ground-based solar telescopes, such as speckle masking. Near real-time reconstruction performance is achieved on a high performance cluster using the Message Passing Interface (MPI). However, much time is spent in reconstructing solar subimages in such a speckle reconstruction. We design and implement a novel parallel method for speckle masking reconstruction of solar subimage on a shared memory machine using the OpenMP. Real tests are performed to verify the correctness of our codes. We present the details of several parallel reconstruction steps. The parallel implementation between various modules shows a great speed increase as compared to single thread serial implementation, and a speedup of about 2.5 is achieved in one subimage reconstruction. The timing result for reconstructing one subimage with 256×256 pixels shows a clear advantage with greater number of threads. This novel parallel method can be valuable in real-time reconstruction of solar images, especially after porting to a high performance cluster.

  • In this paper, we propose a new digital audio watermarking technique with the wavelet transform. The watermark is embedded by eliminating unnecessary information of audio signal based on human auditory system (HAS). This algorithm is an audio watermarking method, which does not require any original audio information in watermark extraction process. In this paper, the masking effect is used for audio watermarking, that is, post-tempera] masking effect. We construct the window with the synchronization signal and we extract the best frame in the window by using the zero-crossing rate (ZCR) and the energy of the audio signal. The watermark may be extracted by using the correlation of the watermark signal and the portion of the frame. Experimental results show good robustness against MPEG1-layer3 compression and other common signal processing manipulations. All the attacks are made after the D/A/D conversion.

  • With the advent of sound field simulator, many sound fields have been reproduced by obtaining the impulse responses of specific acoustic spaces like famous concert hall, opera house. This sound field reproduction has been done by the linear convolution operation between the sound input signal and the impulse response of certain acoustic space. However, the conventional finite impulse response based linear convolution operation always makes real-time implementation of sound field generator impossible due to the large amount of computational burden. This paper introduces the fast convolution method using perceptual redundancy in the processed signals, input audio signal and room impulse response. Temporal and spectral real-time masking blocks are implemented in the proposed convolution structure. It reduces the computational burden of convolution methods for real-time implementation of a sound field generator. The conventional convolutions are compared with the proposed one in views of computational burden and sound quality. In the proposed method, a considerable reduction in the computational burden was realized with acceptable changes in sound quality.
