  • Conventional marketing research generally focuses on a single layer's benefit. A notable example is the consumer layer providing managers with partial market information to evaluate relevant strategies. As generally known, marketing management encounters complex supply and demand behaviors, thereby necessitation that a successful marketing strategy adopt multi-layer considerations, such as the consumer layer, channel-retailer layer, and marketing planner layer. In light of above situation, this study applies fuzzy theory and the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) technique to analyze the performances of marketing strategies under multi-layer benefits, In addition, conventional marketing research has difficulty in efficiently allocating the limited budget so that each desired criterion can be significantly enhanced by a group of events. Therefore, a weighting structure among the goal, layers, criteria, and strategies(i.e. a group of events) is also developed herein to trace the influential process and assist marketing managers in efficiently allocating resources(i.e.budget).

To overcome this challenging situation and to grow continuously, while still meeting customer needs that are becoming more diverse and complicated with the passage of time, extensive support for internal marketing is essential. Without such internal support, companies face serious limitations and market roadblocks. The communication industry is a high-level service industry and a basic communications industry characteristic is its significant dependence on the employees delivering the services. Therefore, entrepreneurs in the information/communications industry, as well as existing competitors, should look to satisfy external customers through critical investment in internal customers (employees). Therefore, it is important for research to examine how internal factors influence technology innovation and service quality, which are the key drivers for companies that are seeking leading market positions. Research design, data, and methodology - The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship of technology innovation and perceived service quality with the internal marketing factors in the communication industry and to offer suitable and effective internal marketing suggestions. The independent variables of this study are internal communication, education and training, the support of the executives, reward systems, and empowerment. The dependent variables are technology innovation and perceived service quality. The marketing factors, the support of executives, empowerment, internal communication, and education and training, in this order, significantly affect process innovation. Third, technology innovation had a positive effect on perceived service quality. All of the five service quality factors, namely, tangibles, reliability, assurance, responsibility, and empathy, in this order, significantly affect product innovation. Additionally, tangibles, reliability, responsibility, empathy, and assurance, in this order, significantly affect process innovation. Fourth, product and process innovation significantly affect tangibles and reliability in technology innovation. To enhance tangibles and reliability, process innovation should first be enhanced. Fifth, product and process innovation significantly affect responsibility and empathy in technology innovation. To enhance the responsibility and empathy, process innovation should first be enhanced. Sixth, product and process innovation significantly affect assurance in technology innovation. To enhance the assurance, product innovation should first be enhanced. Conclusions - According to the results, a company's internal marketing factors have a positive and significant effect on technology innovation and, further, product and process innovation have a positive and significant effect on the perceived serviced quality.

  • With the growing importance of accountability, it is getting necessary to test the impact of marketing expenditure on marketing performance. Including recent ROM, we can find a few researches about marketing accountability. But there are a few problems about definitions and metric of marketing expenditure and marketing performance. Therefore, by defining and analyzing the impact of marketing expenditure on marketing performance, we are going to set the classification scheme of marketing expenditure and marketing performance. Based on research findings, new definitions and metrics are proposed as follows. First, we suggest the classification scheme of marketing expenditure. Marketing expenditure is defined as expense accounts in the balance sheet for doing marketing tasks. Marketing expenditures includes many accounts, for example, marketing research, advertising, sales promotion, foreign market development, physical distribution, after services. Among these marketing investment, advertising expenses have a positive effect on marketing performance. Second, we suggest the classification scheme of marketing performance. Already, marketing performance has been defined as financial metrics, customer metrics, market metrics, and corporate social responsibility. But, in this study, we find that the process model is not relevant for explaining association between the performance metrics. The process model is a virtuous cycle: "customer metrics→market metrics→financial metrics→firm valuation metrics." But, in this study, it is not supported or a little significant association between these metrics. Based on these results, we suggest the balance model or flower model as the classification scheme of marketing performance.

  • Really new products (RNPs) provide novel benefits yet many consumers are reluctant to accept these highly innovative new products. Previous literature has shown that mental simulation is an effective method for enhancing the evaluation of RNPs. However, Castano et al. (2008) and Zhao, Hoeffler, and Zauberman (2011) demonstrate conflicting results as to which type of mental simulation (i.e., process versus outcome) is more effective for the enhancement of RNP evaluation. The authors try to reconcile these results by incorporating a moderating variable which is personal need for structure (PNS). PNS is an individual difference variable that taps the differences in people's propensity to cognitively structure and simplify their environment (Neuberg and Newsom 1993). From the analysis of the previous two works, the authors point out that consumers' susceptibility to uncertainty may contribute to the different results, and suggest that this susceptibility is dependent on consumers' PNS. To test the hypotheses established, an experiment was conducted. Waterless washing machine was presented as a RNP and PNS was measured by using the 12-item PNS Scale (Thompson et al. 2001). The results of the study show that for high-PNS consumers, process simulation is more effective than outcome simulation for enhancing the evaluation of a RNP, whereas for low-PNS consumers, outcome simulation is more effective than process simulation. This research contributes to the mental simulation and new product literature by suggesting and verifying that PNS moderates the effects of process versus outcome simulations for enhancing the evaluation of RNPs. This research provides important managerial implications for marketing managers of RNPs, indicating that they should take account of the target consumers' PNS in planning marketing communications. Specifically, when targeting high-PNS consumers, marketing communications that encourage process simulation may be more effective than those that encourage outcome simulation. In contrast, when targeting low-PNS consumers, marketing communications that encourage outcome simulation may be more effective than those that encourage process simulation.

  • Learning organization has been an important issue in both management and marketing areas. Also learning capability is a key construct of innovation process in a firm. Especially, in marketing context, several researchers have studied market-based learning and its relation with performance. Previous studies have shown that market-based learning has a positive impact on overall firm performance. However, there has been inconsistency in the concept of market-based learning itself and its relationships with antecedents and consequences. Given this conflicting and inconsistent results of previous research, this study has two main objectives. First, this paper proposed a conceptual framework that marketbased learning has two types of processes and each types of market-based learning will generate different types of performance. Second, the mediating role of marketing capability in learning-performance link is proposed. The proposed conceptual framework shows that organizations which have marketbased learning for innovation management can enjoy ambidextrous firm performance on both side of effectiveness and efficiency via marketing capability. Moreover our research model proposes key drivers of market based organizational learning.
