A Practice of Developing New Environment-friendly System by Composites

  • This study intends to study about the blade performance loss occurred due to the variation in the shape of an airfoil from attachment/non-attachment of an erosion shield for the hovercraft. The model in this study has used NACA44XXseries, has designed NACA44XX-series by using the Auto CAD, and it designed the shape that has attached an erosion shield to this model according to the thickness and length. By using these models, a grid was generated by GAMBIT and the lift coefficient ($C_l$) and the drag coefficient ($C_d$) were calculated FLUENT code for flow analysis. Through this, the $C_l$ and $C_d$ have calculated and compared the lift-to-drag ratio that an indicator of airfoil performance according to the shape and attachment/non-attachment of erosion shield.

북방한계선(北方限界線)과 서해5도(西海5島) 주변수역(周邊水域)의 해양법문제(海洋法問題) (Northern Limit Line and its Problems of the Law of the Sea in the Sea Area around Five South Korean Islands of the West Sea)

  • Five Islands in the West Sea of Korea (Baekryeong-do, Daecheong-do, Socheong-do, Yeonpyeong-do, and Woo-do) are located very close to the North Korea's coast and all of them are under the jurisdiction of South Korea. The North and South Korean naval vessels clashed twice in the West Sea of Korea on June 15, 1999 and on June 29, 2002. These incidents were resulted from conflicts over the validity of the Northern Limit Line(NLL) and the appropriate maritime boundary between the two Koreas. From the viewpoint of South Korea, the North Limit Line is a lawful Maritime Military Demarcation Line under the Korean Military Armistice Agreement and it must be maintained as a maritime boundary between two Koreas until being substituted by a peace treaty. In conclusion, the maritime boundary between two Koreas cannot be settled easily by the principles of the International Law of the Sea at present.

선박사고 예방지수 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study On the Design of Preventive Index of Maritime Accidents)

  • 선박 항해기술 발달, 항해 교육 그리고 안전 법제 강화에도 불구하고 선박사고는 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 이러한 해양사고의 저감을 목적으로 예방활동의 동기부여 및 촉진을 위해 예방활동을 정량적으로 평가하고 시각화한 선박사고 예방지수를 설계하였다. 제안된 예방지수는 지난 3년간(2010년~2012년)의 사고원인을 바탕으로 교육(Education), 기술(Engineering), 단속(Enforcement), 정보(Information) 영역에서 예방인자를 추출하여 평가모듈을 구성함으로서 예방지수를 산출하였다. 선박 종류별 예방지수를 측정한 결과 사고 발생률과 상관관계가 있는 유의한 결과를 얻었다. 평가모듈과 검증 및 조사과정을 보완하면 실제 선박사고의 예방에 활용이 기대된다.

Capstone Design Projects based on Invention Education

  • This paper deals with the introduction of capstone design projects based on invention education in Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Korea Maritime University. This course is referred to as Creative Engineering Design for spring semester of 4th-year undergraduates. The course focuses on creative thinking and cooperative mind to students by learning engineering design skills, realizing their idea through design project and recognizing practicality of their systems. To improve creative thinking of students, intellectual property (IP) education is very helpful. If engineering students take training program in IP, it will be very beneficial for CEOs to manage intellectual capital in many industries and to ensure competition power in their business. This study suggested that students take interest in connecting their ideas with inventions through invention education reinforcing an invention and a patent exercise. It is expected that this study may help to develop new curriculum of capstone design project including IP education in many universities.

A Study on Application of Ubiquitous Technology for Convenient Environment in Cruise Ship

  • These days, the cruise tourist industry is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing components of the leisure industry in the world. Therefore, the cruise ship with ubiquitous technology is expected to enhance the operation efficiency of the ship. It can also provide valuable addition to the ship's service as well as high quality of life to crews and passengers. Since a large number of passengers are dwelling in cruise ship, all passengers are not easy to use ship's facilities, such as restaurants, fitness center, swimming pool and spa at anytime they want. In this paper, passenger service system in ship environment is tested in similar environment and under ship operation condition. We have proposed three applications of ubiquitous technology using Zigbee communication and LabView program.

병렬 마이크로 채널 형상에 따른 CFD 유동해석 (CFD Analysis on the Channel Shapes of Parallel Micro-Channels)

  • An numerical analysis was performed to obtain the design parameters for parallel micro-channels. The parallel micro-channels consist of 10 square channels with a hydraulic diameter of 300 ${\mu}m$ and inlet/outlet manifolds. The channel length is 5mm, 10mm and 40mm respectively. Mass flux was set between 200~600kg/m2s as inlet boundary condition and atmospheric pressure was set as outlet boundary condition. The pressure drop in channels and manifolds were estimated by using the Shah and London correlation and the flow uniformity was represented by the velocity distributions with dimensionless velocity. The results show that the flow uniformity in channels depends on shapes of manifolds, length and mass flux.

어선의 전복사고 원인별 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cause Analysis for the Capsizing Accident in Fishing Vessels)

  • In recent 5 years, the 70 percent of the ship's accident was occurred in the fishing vessels, and most of them were the engine troubles and collisions. The capsizing accident was comparatively low portion of occupation, which took only 2 percent, but the scale of accident and the loss of lives and property are known very tremendous. In this paper, it was examined for the stability provisions of fishing vessels in domestic and international to reduce the capsizing of them. Also, it was made an analysis for the case of capsizing accidents to suggest the measures against the capsizing.

수평 다채널에서의 압력강하에 관한 새로운 상관식 (A New Correlation on Pressure Drop in Horizontal Multi Channels)

  • Flow boiling pressure drop in multi channels was experimently investigated. The multi channel has a width and depth of 0.45 and 0.2mm respectively, and comprises 15 parallel channels. The measured total pressure drop is expressed by the sum of the frictional pressure drop and acceleration pressure drop. In order to predict the total pressure drop, it is required to obtain the correct frictional pressure drop. The existing correlations to predict the frictional pressure were compared with measured frictional pressure drop. The new correlation was developed in the form of the Chisholm correlation. It was related to Chisholm Constant B as a function of Martinelli parameter. The new correlation predicted the experimental data within a mean absolute error of 5.5%.

IMO 회원국 감사제도 대응을 위한 해기교육 강화방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Enhancement of Maritime Education and Training to cope with IMO Member-state Audit Scheme)

  • 그 동안 각종 IMO 협약의 채택에도 불구하고 인명 및 해양환경에 관련된 대형 선박사고가 발생하는 것은 기국이 의무를 충실히 이행하고 있지 않고 이로 인하여 IMO 협약들이 효과적으로 이행되지 않기 때문이다. 특히, 기국 중 해당 선박과 기국 간에 진정한 연계가 없는 기국에서는 자국 내 해사안전 및 환경보호를 담당할 인적, 구조적 조직이 잘 정비되어 있지 않기 때문에 협약의 이행이 제대로 이루어 지지 않고 있다. 이와 같은 배경으로 IMO에서는 2003년 11월 제23차 총회에서 자발적 회원국 감사제도에 관한 결의서 A.946(23)이 채택되었고, 동 제도는 2009년 11월 총회 결의서 A.1018(26)의 채택으로 2015년에 강제화 될 예정이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 IMO 회원국 감사제도의 개요와 동 제도의 감사기준으로 사용하고 있는 강제협약 이행코드를 살펴보았다. 또한 2015년 회원국 감사제도의 강제화에 따른 당사국의 의무와 책임에 대해 검토하였다. 이를 중심으로 우리나라의 해기교육기관이 회원국 감사제도의 강제화에 선제적으로 대응하기 위한 해기 교육 강화방안을 제안하였다.

일부 해양경찰들의 구강보건경험 유무에 따른 구강보건지식수준과 구강보건교육 요구도 (Relationship between Health Knowledge and Needs for Oral Health Education According to Oral Health-related Experience of Some Maritime Police Officers)

  • 본 연구는 특수 직업군에 속하는 해양경찰을 대상으로 구강보건관련 지식수준을 파악하여 구강보건교육 프로그램을 계발하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 2013년 3월부터 9월까지 해양경찰관 499명을 대상으로 일반적 특성 8문항, 구강보건교육 경험여부, 일반적 구강보건지식 13문항, 치주관련 지식 6문항, 치아우식병 예방관련 지식 6문항, 구강보건교육 요구도 4문항을 조사한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 연구대상 중 104명(22.8%)만이 구강보건교육 경험이 있었다. 교육을 받은 경우 일반적 지식수준에서는 턱관절 관련 문항에서 지식수준이 차이를 보였고(p=0.026), 치주건강지식에서는 차이를 보이지 않았으며, 예방관련지식에서는 불소에 관한 지식수준이 높게 나타났다. 구강보건교육 요구도에서는 구강보건 전문 인력이 필요하다고 67.1%가 응답하였으며, 특히 구강보건교육을 받은 경험이 있는 경우 77.9% 응답하였다(p=0.004). 선호내용으로는 올바른 잇솔질, 구강상담, 구강위생용품사용, 세치제 선택법, 영양 및 금연교육의 순으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과에서 해양경찰과 같은 특수 직업군에 대한 구강보건교육 프로그램의 마련이 되어야 할 것이다.
