A Study on the System Identification for Detection of Tool Breakage (공구파손검출을 위한 시스템인식에 관한 연구)

  • The demands for robotic and automatic system are continually increasing in manufacturing fields. There have been many studies to monitor and predict the system, but they have mainly focused upon measuring cutting force, and current of motor spindle, and upon using acoustic sensor, etc. In this study, time series sequence of cutting force was acquired by taking advantage of piezoelectric type tool dynamometer. Radial cutting force was obtained from it and was available for useful observation data. The parameter was estimated using PAA(parameter adaptation algorithm) from observation data. ARMA(auto regressive moving average) model was selected for system model and second order was decided according to parameter estimation. Uncorrelation test was also carried out to verify convergence of parameter.

  • This paper deals with the application of sensitivity method to the parameter estimation for the dynamic analysis of gener-al mechanical system. In this procedure we take the derivatives of the given system with respect to a certain parameter and use this information to implement the steepest descent method. This paper will give two examples of this technique applied to simple vehicle models. This paper will give two examples of this technique applied to simple vehicle models. Simulation results show excellent convergence and accuracy of parameter estimates.

  • An electromagnetic linear actuator is controlled precisely and securely and is useful in devices that require linear motion. The most commonly used method in the performance verification process for an electromagnetic actuator is finite element analysis that utilizes CAE. However, finite element analysis has the disadvantage that modeling and analysis consume a lot of time. Accordingly, lumped parameter analysis can be an alternative approach to the finite element method because of its computation iteration capability with fair accuracy. In this paper, the lumped parameter model and simulation results are presented. In addition, the results of the lumped parameter analysis are compared with those obtained from finite element analysis for verification.

There were so many studies to monitor and predict system, but it were mainly relied upon measuring of cutting force, current of motor spindle and using acoustic sensor, etc. In this study digital image of time series sequence was acquired taking advantage of optical technique. Then, mean square error was obtained from it and was available for useful observation data. The parameter was estimated using PAA(parameter adaptation algorithm) from observation data. AR model was selected for system model, fifth order was decided according to parameter estimation. Uncorrelation test was also carried out to verify convergence of parameter. Through the proceedings, we found there was a system stability.

  • The Taguchi method, a robust experimental design, was used to optimize manufacturing parameters of a brake lining during hot pressing and heat treatment. A friction material containing 15 ingredients was employed fur this experiment and friction and wear tests were carried out by using a pad-on-disk type tribotester. Sixteen brake linings with different manufacturing conditions were examined according to a parameter design. From the results of the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the cause and effect of the manufacturing parameters on physical properties (hardness and porosity) and friction and wear characteristics of brake linings was obtained.

  • In the present paper, we theoretically analyze the flow of magnetic fluids in a circular pipe with a vertical magnetic field and investigate the magnetic response by the external magnetic field. Theoretical study through the governing equation derived by Siliomis is carried out with numerical analysis by the Gauss Elimination Method. Using polar and magnetic effect parameters, theoretical equations and distributions for the velocity, apparent viscosity as the magnetic response are shown. Especially, in the region of strong magnetic field the specific property is appeared by finding a critical magnetic effect parameter for a polar effect parameter.

  • Robust design is one method to make manufacturing less sensitive to manufacturing process. Also it is cost effective technique to improve the quality process. This method uses statistically planned experiments to vary settings of important process control parameters. In this paper we apply fuzzy optimization and fuzzy logic system to robust design concept. First a method which uses fuzzy optimization in obtaining optimum settings by measured data from experiments will be presented. Second, fuzzy logic system is made to reduce experiments using experiments results consisted with key control parameter combinations. Then optimum parameter set points are obtained by the descrebed first fuzzy optimization method after prediction the results of each parameter combinations considering each control parameter variations by nonsingleton fuzzy logic system concept.

  • Although polishing process take 30-50% of whole process of manufacturing die and mold it has not been fully automat-ed yet. Considering current trend of manufacturing it is necessary to study on polishing automation. To accomplish automation reliable database must be developed. For developing it polishing mechanism should be defined and a general empirical formula that can be applied widely should be created. In this paper it is found that polishing process must be separated into 2 process such as removing cusp and getting fine surface process and the polishing parameter which is com-posed of major machining parameters and normalization of data can be applied efficiently in making reliable database.

  • V-belt pulleys play a key role in driving cooling pump, oil pump, air-conditioner and so on by using an engine power. Precision deep drawing is one of the main processes for manufacturing the pulleys. Operation variables of the deep drawing equipment, called the setup parameter, must be re-determined whenever the specifications of pulley to be produced are changed. The defect rates during a setup of equipment and the working hours needed for the setup are almost dependent on workers' know-how. This study designs the program for easily determining setup conditions in pulley manufacturing process.
