  • An important technique of the present invention is primarily to parallel light detection, self-pulse therapy after diagnosis. Herpes zoster is a disease caused by varicella zoster virus, and the virus that has been latent in the dorsal root ganglion that controls the skin segment loses its immune system and physically damages it. It is an acute skin disease in which acute pain and bullous rash occur along the sensory ganglia, which are rehab by inducers such as malignant tumors. Dorsal root ganglion after complete recovery of varicella, relapsed after incubation in brain ganglion, latent virus sometimes suppressed activity by cell mediated immunity, and in cell ganglion with reduced cellular immunity. It proliferates and destroys neurons, causing pain while forming a rash and blisters. This can reduce cell necrosis and increase the phagocytosis and enzymatic activity through the movement of ions through the cell membrane, depolarization and membrane potential change, growth factor secretion, calcium ion transfer, chondrocyte synthesis, etc., And may offer treatment options for lesions of herpes zoster and post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).Therefore, according to the present research, the diagnosis and treatment device of treating paing for herpes zoster and post-herpetic pain can be implemented in the early stage of herpes zoster, and conventional analgesic regulation, anti-inflammatory effect, post-herpetic neuralgia.

Primary Cutaneous Mucinous Eccrine Carcinoma Arising in the Lower Eyelid: A Rare Case Report (아래 눈꺼풀에 발생한 원발성 피부 점액성 에크린 암종 1예)

  • Mucinous Eccrine carcinoma (MEC) is a rare malignant tumor related to the eccrine sweat gland and is commonly located on the face, especially around the eyelids and scalp. Most of these tumors are diagnosed at age 40's to 60's and exhibit a wide variety of patterns in addition to the general appearance previously reported. MEC is difficult to diagnose clinically, but can be diagnosed by accompanying biopsy. We present the case of a 75-year-old man who complained of a gradually growing Left lower lid tumor of duration one year. Initially, the tumor was mistaken for an epidermal cyst and treated by surgical resection. However, biopsy findings resulted in a diagnosis of Mucinous Eccrine carcinoma. Therefore, we performed wide excision and flap reconstruction surgery. In a one year follow-up examination, the patient achieved successful functional and aesthetic results without regional or distant metastasis and recurrence.

A Case of Oncocytic Carcinoma Arising in the Submandibular Gland (악하선에 발생한 호산성 세포암종 1예)

  • Oncocytic neoplasm of the head and neck region accounts for approximately 1% of all salivary gland tumors, but only 5% of oncocytic neoplasm is malignant. Oncocytic carcinoma arising in the submandibular gland is exceedingly rare. We encountered a sixty seven-year-old male patient who presented with multiple mass in the right neck. Fine needle aspiration biopsy revealed a salivary gland tumor of predominantly oncocytic form, and a differential diagnosis included oncocytic adenoma or mucoepidermoid carcinoma. A right submandibular gland resection and modified radical neck dissection were performed. Histologically, the tumor cells showed nuclear pleomorphism, and stromal invasion, which were compatible with oncocytic carcinoma. After surgery, the entire neck region was irradiated. Seventeen months after the initial surgery, multiple metastases to the bone and lung were detected from the incidental pathologic bone fracture of the right humerus; palliative chemotherapy was performed to resolve this. We report a case of oncocytic carcinoma in the submandibular gland with a review of literature.

  • Hypoxia, a widespread occurrence observed in various malignant tumors, results from rapid tumor growth that outpaces the oxygen supply. Tumor hypoxia precipitates several effects on tumor biology; these include activating angiogenesis, intensifying invasiveness, enhancing the survival of tumor cells, suppressing anti-tumor immunity, and fostering resistance to therapy. Aligned with the findings that correlate CMGC kinases with the regulation of Hypoxia-Inducible Factor (HIF), a pivotal modulator, reports also indicate that hypoxia governs the activity of CMGC kinases, including DYRK1 kinases. Prolyl hydroxylation of DYRK1 kinases by PHD1 constitutes a novel mechanism of kinase maturation and activation. This modification "primes" DYRK1 kinases for subsequent tyrosine autophosphorylation, a vital step in their activation cascade. This mechanism adds a layer of intricacy to comprehending the regulation of CMGC kinases, and underscores the complex interplay between distinct post-translational modifications in harmonizing precise kinase activity. Overall, hypoxia assumes a substantial role in cancer progression, influencing diverse aspects of tumor biology that include angiogenesis, invasiveness, cell survival, and resistance to treatment. CMGC kinases are deeply entwined in its regulation. To fathom the molecular mechanisms underpinning hypoxia's impact on cancer cells, comprehending how hypoxia and prolyl hydroxylation govern the activity of CMGC kinases, including DYRK1 kinases, becomes imperative. This insight may pave the way for pioneering therapeutic approaches that target the hypoxic tumor microenvironment and its associated challenges.

Systematic Review of Studies Assessing the Health-Related Quality of Life of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients from 2009 to 2018

  • We reviewed all studies assessing the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) between 2009 and 2018 (n = 45). Most studies assessed HRQoL as an outcome, and evaluated or compared the HRQoL of HCC patients depending on the type of treatment or stage of disease. HCC patients had a worse HRQoL than the general population, including in those with early-stage HCC. Patients commonly experienced pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance, distress, and lack of appetite, and these symptoms remained problematic even a few years after treatment. TNM classification of malignant tumors stage, tumor stage, presence of cirrhosis, being Asian, being female, living alone, or being unemployed were associated with a poor HRQoL. While recent studies have included a more diverse patient population, various topics, and different study designs, there were limited studies on supportive interventions. Given the increase in HCC cases and HCC survivors, addressing the HRQoL of HCC patients requires more attention.

  • Sonography with a high-frequency transducer is the modality of choice for imaging the scrotum. Most intratesticular lesions are hypoechoic. Differentiation of intratesticular hypoechoic lesions as either malignant or benign is important because the treatment of these lesions vary. In this paper, we review the sonographic features of different types of intratesticular hypoechoic lesions, such as testicular cysts, testicular tumors, testicular inflammatory lesions, segmental testicular infarction, and testicular trauma.

  • Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors that occur in the salivary glands. While several cases of distant metastasis have been reported, instances of metastasis to the skin are rare. We present the case of a 72-year-old man diagnosed with parotid mucoepidermoid carcinoma who experienced temporary remission following surgical resection and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy. However, the carcinoma recurred along the skin at the periauricular area along the mask line. Given the current prevalence of COVID-19, the practice of wearing masks has become more widespread. This case report highlights the recurrence of mucoepidermoid carcinoma along the mask strap line, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing it from benign dermatological conditions.

Flap Reconstruction and Histological Review after Extensive Resection of Adult Type Fibrosarcoma (성인형 섬유육종의 광범위 절제 후 피판 재건 및 조직학적 고찰)

  • Adult fibrosarcoma is a malignant tumor comprising of spindle-shaped fibroblasts with variable collagen production. Due to their aggressive nature and high probability of local tumor recurrence, these tumors require accurate diagnosis and resection according to guidelines. A 57-year-old male presented to the clinic with a complaint of a palpable growing mass in the left scapular area. Examination of the back revealed a 6 cm protruding tumor with a nodular surface. We performed a wide excision, including the infraspinatus fascia layer and subsequent reconstruction using a parascapular island flap. Histopathological analysis demonstrated the typical microscopic features of adult fibrosarcoma. At the 3-year follow-up, there was no evidence of local recurrence and the resection margin was completely clear of tumor.

  • Myxoid liposarcoma is an extremely rare malignant breast tumor. We report the case of a 44-year-old woman who had myxoid liposarcoma of the breast with a history of phyllodes tumor and describe the imaging findings on US, mammography, and MRI. Before surgery, the mass was considered to be a recurrent phyllodes tumor. However, using US, we retrospectively identified some differences between myxoid liposarcomas and phyllodes tumors.

  • Acinic cell carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor that accounts for 2%-3% of salivary gland tumors. Acinic cell carcinoma arising from the breast is extremely rare, with only approximately 70 cases reported to date. Owing to its rarity, previous studies have primarily focused on pathological findings. Herein, we present the clinical and radiological features of acinic cell carcinoma of the breast in a 33-year-old woman.
