Objectives: The study examined the status on the use of nutrition labeling and nutrition claims among university students as well as the diet quality and nutritional status using the nutrition quotient (NQ) according to the use of nutrition labeling and claims. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on university students (86 males and 131 females) from March to April in 2019 in Chungbuk area. Results: The percentage of subjects who reported that they recognized nutrition labeling was 80.2% of the total, and 63.8% of them indicated that they used nutrition labeling for their food choices. In addition, 22.6% of the total subjects said that they used nutrition claims. The group of subjects using nutrition labeling showed significantly higher mean scores in balance (P < 0.01), diversity (P < 0.05), moderation (P < 0.01), and dietary behavior (P < 0.001) along with higher mean NQ score (P < 0.001) compared to the group not using nutrition labeling. The group using nutrition claims had significantly higher mean scores in balance (P < 0.001), diversity (P < 0.01), moderation (P < 0.001), and dietary behavior (P < 0.001) as well as total NQ scores (P < 0.001) compared to the group not using nutrition claims. The group of subjects using both nutrition labeling and nutrition claims showed significantly higher mean NQ scores than the group of subjects using either nutrition labeling or nutrition claims (P < 0.05). Conclusions: In this study, university students' use of nutrition labeling and nutrition claims appeared to be related to their diet quality and nutritional status.
The purpose of this study was to Identify the self-actualization level of Junior College Nursing Students and to analyze the variables that may be related to self-actualization. A convenient sample of 346 students were selected from three colleges located in Seoul and Kyungki-Province. The data were collected using a direct survey method from September17to October 2, 1992. The instrument used for this study was the self-actualization test modified by Kim & Lee(1983). The collected data were analyzed using percentages, means, 1-test, X$^2$-test, ANOVA and Pearson’s correlation coefficient, with the SPSSPC$^{+}$ Package. The results of this study are as follows : 1) The self-actualization level of subjects was moderate. The subjects showed higher scores in the areas of Self actualizing Values and Nature of Man than the standardized normal groups. The subjects showed lower scores in the areas of Inner Directed Existentiality, Self acceptance and Capacity for Intimate Contact. 2) The subjects attending day junior colleges showed higher scores in the areas of Time competent, Existentiality and Self Acceptance than those attending college in the evening. The subjects attending evening junior colleges showed higher scores in the areas of Spontaneity than those attending college by day. 3) The junior students showed higher scores in the areas of Feel-ing Reactivity than freshman. The students with no religion showed higher scores in the areas of existentiality than those who had a religion. The group who had the experience of failure on the college entrance examination showed lower scores in the areas of Nature of Man than those without this experience. Those who chose their major voluntary showed scores higher in the areas of I nor Directed, Self Actualizing Values, Spontaneity and Self regard than the unsatisfied group. The group satisfied with college life showed higher scores in the areas of Time Competent, Inner Directed, Self Actualizing Values and Self Regard than the unsatisfied group. In conclusion self actualization level depends on motivation of choice, satisfaction with nursing as a major and satisfaction with college life. Therefore, and effective guidance program is required to improve motivation and satisfaction with nursing as a major and with college life.
This study was conducted to investigate the dietary behavior and health-related lifestyles of university students in Incheon arear Self administered questionnaires were collected ken 179 food and nutrition major and non-major students. Statistical data analysis was completed using a SPSS v.10.0 program. The results are summarized as follows: The average weight, height, BMI and PIBW of the major and non-major male and female students were 69.89kg, 172.89cm, 23.4 and 106.49 ; 67.27kg, 173.98cm, 22.2 and 101.35 ; 50.61kg, 161.20cm, 19.53 and 92.25 ; 53.77kg, 161.53cm, 20.56 and 97.18, respectively. The breakfast skipping ratio of the subjects were very high, which was mainly due to the reason“lack of time”More than 75% of male students and 61% of female students responded to have lunch at university canteens or restaurants around campus regularly. About 56% of male students and 68% of female students responded to have dinner irregularly, which mainly caused by the reasons“irregularity of lecture”and “appointment with friends”. The ratio of snacks intake of the subjects were high; Ramyun was the snack item taken the most by the male students and fruits and cookies by the female ones. More than 50% male students and 2% of female students were smokers. A half of students dunk alcohol once or twice a week. The dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles between major and non-major male students tended to be very similar. The major female students showed more health-oriented dietary behaviors in comparison with the non-major ones. Therefore, they should have a major-oriented and practically organized nutritional education program to correct their dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles fur health.
The dietary vitamin $B_6$ intake of 218 Korean young women (aged 20-26y), who had no health problems, and their sources were estimated using a modified Korean vitamin $B_6$ database. The average daily vitamin $B_6$ intake was 0.987 mg for the subjects. About 87.2% of the subjects consumed less than the Korean Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin $B_6$. The average ratio of vitamin $B_6$ intake to daily protein intake was 0.014 mg/g protein, and approximately 91% of subjects consumed 〈 0.02 mg/g protein. Vitamin $B_6$ intake was significantly (p〈.01 -p〈.001) positively correlated to the intakes of all other nutrients. Between animal and vegetable protein, animal protein had a stronger positive correlation with vitamin $B_6$. Major dietary sources of vitamin $B_6$, the top 10 foods provided nearly 64% of total vitamin $B_6$, and dietary contributors of vitamin $B_6$ for Koreans are less varied than those for Americans.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the level and the major causes of job stress, and the causes of the high level of job turnover rate of fashion merchandisers and fashion designers. The study also examined the correlations among the major causes of job stress, job results and job turnover rate. A part of the questionnaire consisted of questions on major causes of job stress, job result, and intention and trial to leave a job. The subjects were to rate on 5 point Likert-type scales. The other part included the questions on demographic and individual characteristics of the subjects and their company characteristics. The purpose of this study was to compare EMG activity for pectoralis major muscle during shoulder movement with various abduction angle and rotation position in supine position. Fifteen healthy subjects were recruited for this study. All subjects performed shoulder horizontal adduction holding a 2 kg dumbbell in shoulder abduction $40^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $130^{\circ}C$, $160^{\circ}C$ with shoulder neutral, internal rotation (IR), and external rotation (ER). Surface EMG activity was recorded from pectoralis major clavicle part and pectoralis major sternum part for 5 seconds and EMG activity was normalized to the value of maximal voluntary isometric contraction (%MVIC). Dependent variables were examined with 3 (Neutral, IR, ER) ${\times}$ 5 ($40^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $130^{\circ}C$, $160^{\circ}C$) analysis of variance with repeated measures. The EMG activity of pectoralis major muscle was significantly different between shoulder abduction angles and between shoulder rotation positions (p<.05). The highest value of EMG activity of pectoralis major clavicle part among shoulder abduction angles was in $70^{\circ}C$ and, $90^{\circ}C$ in that order. The highest value of EMG activity of pectoralis major sternum part among shoulder abduction angles was in $130^{\circ}C$ and, $90^{\circ}C$ in that order. According to the rotation degree, shoulder ER showed the highest value and IR showed the lowest value in both muscle parts. These results suggest that shoulder abduction $70^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $130^{\circ}C$ will be effective during manual muscle testing (MMT) and strengthening exercise for pectoralis major muscle. It is also supposed that shoulder ER is the efficient posture for strengthening of pectoralis major muscle.
